Tbh honest project zomboid is already a survival horror, scary until you have the right materials to melt everything in sight, but these mods make it just a straight up horror game
if you get a base set up and clear places out methodically, it's not really scary. the one time you forget to check a corner and almost get bit or almost get surrounded in the middle of a staircase will give you a god damn heart attack though

The whole "You will die" thing is cool on paper but I think the game really needs an end goal, what are you supposed to do when you already have everything you need? An end goal or some more crazy world events would be neat. I know the game is meant to be more realistic and not so supernatural but some supernatural stuff happening would be awesome, like eventually other monsters start appearing. Ghouls, Shriekers and stuff like that would be great.

@@AiSyYoo imo PZ with TLD based gameplay wouldn't really be that interesting. Without zombies, you could loot everything unimpeded, and still get quite a large haul even with very rare loot spawns. Removing the zombies from project zomboid doesn't seem like a very good idea.

I'm curious about the zombies' ability to ressurect! 50% odds to come back again is stressful, but could get annoying eventually. Is it possible to make their odds of reanimation decay over time? For example, each time they successfully ressurect, they have -5% chance of doing it again.
Yeah this took my interest as well. I've never seen an option for reanimation after second death. That seems absolutely awesome if you wanna drive yourself mad.

@@armando92 The Shibito! And this is because of the red water/blood surrounding the place, and is also used to explain why your characters slowly heal over time. Those things are especially spooky, considering Shibito just think they're trying to convert you to their faith from their perspective. They don't know they're killing anybody.
One of the main difficulties I have with those spooky AoM animations is knowing if they are close enough to actually hurt me. I want to give a word of warning to that even though I'm sure you are much more experienced in this game than me LOL

Feels good to see you going back to spookier series like this! Do you have any keybind recommendations that work well when playing with sprinters...? I've never really managed to get sprinters to "work" for me just because it ends up feeling too clunky
By far one of my favorite ways to play PZ is in a custom mode I call "the Beast" I go to the custom settings and absolutely max out the horde numbers so that basically every zombie will be in a mass with every other zombie. If you find one, youre about to find dozens more and that means wherever you think is safe could become a death trap in a very short amount of time.
The funny thing is i had a playthrough on something similar to this and i died due to alcohol making me tired, another reason not to drink kids! i also got my jaw beaten in in another playthrough of the same thing
That's because Cry of Fear is the spiritual successor to Afraid of Monsters, the mod that these enemies are based off of. They're both made by the same person, though Cry of Fear had more of a team working on it, rather than one person.

Just my 2cents on this series rules, i think the 50% of resurrection is too much, especially with how hardcore the zombies are, i think a 10% chance is more just and more realistic.

Hey, I would love to see another horror series. Have you checked out Frightenly Fast Crawlers? It makes crawlers basically as fast as sprinters. Combned with Sprinters and Crawlers, they will also scream attracting other zombies to your location as they nip away at your feet. There is also an option to make the sprinters 'noisy' so they will also attract others to your location. I also combine that with Susceptible (and the susceptible revision where everybody is susceptible, though I add Antibodies to make it a bit more manageable). Ooh, also scent of blood with the option to make it so they smell dirty bandages. I think there are a few more. Also, I have it at insane zombie count, but I think I'll tone that down a bit. It's brutal. I haven't lasted a week, yet. Good fun!
i like how they move their heads like that, looks like its a different virus instead of the main lore one, actually i kinda like the idea of zomboid adding virus types on the future, like different infections, avarage zombies, some more mutated or that move different etc, i know theres the zombie configuration thing but i kinda meant like different overhauls

My most horrific experience was exploring the research building near Louisville with my friend, we had cleared most of the floors so we were confident about the next few so we continued didnt find any zombies for 2 floors or so but when we reached the floor just before the roof we split up for some reason and I went right. I went up some stairs and I kid you not there was like 100 zombies in the small room at the top of the stairs and they literally inhaled my character
Priority is to just raid a warehouse nearby (southeast from the bar) and hope for a saw. Immediately board up the bottom floor and roped yourway up. If they're strong i'd imagine they could very well roam inside while youre sleeping in the day.
i imagine if the player character of this horror mods like suffer the same condition from david leatherhoff from afraid of monsters, like the zombies are actually normal people the whole time but the player character thought that everyone has turn into twitcher zombies so yeah he end up committing a mass murder while surviving at same time. Except the drug part.

The moment you have five or six well-stocked sheetrope houses in each respective locale with the stairs destroyed, the game almost becomes boring.

I havent played for a while and when i returned to the game today, it was really horrifying, i wasnt prepared for the spooky new sounds.

There should be a option to use a knife to cut tge back of the head so even if it revives it will only be able to control the head.
Too bad you cannot take their heads like trophies, but the head might revive if you did, so should not be risk free if this mechanic is to be designed
