Nice. Now you have a chopper for when you are riding your chopper . Ya Know......by combining a whole bunch of those flakes a very cool wind chime could be put together . :O)
I would love to get my paws on some English flint. Ive been knapping a little over a year with alot of success. Im from Kentucky so we have some really nice local stone. Natures heat treated Hornstone knapps beautifully. Be Well and Blessed Will 😎🏹
I think it has so many views because it's relaxing to watch. Watching someone with skill create something is a brilliant process. You are the Bob Ross of flint knapping .
I believe it was the phallic nature of the antler billet at times and the positioning of the hammer stone between your legs. Your antler rosette on your crotch could also have taken it into a realm of viewership you weren't counting on. I once used a close up of my elbow pit in a thumbnail for my video years ago and it gave me half a million views where my previous record was 50 thousand. Seems like AI is judging content and its audience direction more and more lately. Honestly I don't know but it is a possibility. Of course you are talented and make it look easy and are a master in paleo studies but that rarely accounts for much in youtubes typical algorithms..
Hello Will, are your ancestors from Norfolk /Norwich . I would like to hear your ancestral history. That might make a great video. Are you decended from Bell Beaker archers? I remember you saying you grew up at Grimes Graves. My fathers ancestors came from that area late 1600's. I am a primitive archery and flint knapper. Heck who knows could be related My surname is Beckum / Beckham we have been here in the State of Georgia after arriving in the State of Virgina.. We have taken many dna test and it looks like Dads family came from the Beakers of England. Moms side is Western European and American Indian Pee Dee Souian Catawban. Enjoy your channel. A little of Will Lords ancient family history would be a cool video.
Bloomin lovely mate! This video really showed how you approached the lumps and bumps. I learned loads. You could make a great windchime with some of those chips.
I watched it because it was something I'd read nd heard about, but never seen done. The whole vid start to finish was just very greeting and a wonderful watch.
That was one of the most cooperative large flints I have ever seen. It was like it was the axe and asked you to scratch away all the itchy bits that were covering it. First class.
Thanks Will. Always a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work. I suspect your skills will be in great demand soon, the forestry commission needs to reduce its carbon footprint.
Will, that was masterfully done, indeed! I've been knapping since I was 13, and I'm now 73, and I've not seen such a piece turned out so very neatly and in such a straightforward manner as what you just accomplished. You've set up your platforms very neatly and cleanly, and your soft hammer blows were dead on target every time. Those tough spots could not have been handled better. I found myself looking closely as you evaluated each area, determining where to work next, and followed every platform prep and detachment strike with absolute delight. No hinge fractures or break outs, and no end shock damage. And to top it all off, it doesn't appear that the flint was heat treated in any way - no texture or color alterations that normally indicate heating to improve flake quality. Thank you so very much for a delightful 20 minutes. You are absolutely correct when you say that knapping in never boring, whether it goes right or horribly wrong. WELL DONE! You are most certainly a master of the art!
Its satisfying seeing you get the recognition you deserve. Keep on keeping on will!
Well deserved i think. Alice Roberts is an absolute Babe. Looks, brains and a west country accent.
