Thank you! It was very helpful! Btw, Had the same scaling issue you had when you created the controler. I guess it is caused by importing the mixamo fbx file into an existing scene. When I imported the same file into a new scene, the auto control rig worked perfectly, without any adjustments or scaling.
Great Video thank you for this but Do you know of a way to also have a hip controller? This process gives me a very usable rig but it doesnt have a hip controller there is just the root controller that moves everything.

Hi there. Not sure if you still monitor your comments but I am using this method to create a quick rig for a character I have and as soon as I start setting keys everything starts going out of place. For instance, the feet will start to move out of place from the controls even if I haven't set any keys on them and all I have done is moved/rotated the torso. Any idea why this might be happening? It only seems to be happening when I set keys on the root control? Changing the animation curves doesn't seem to solve the problem.

What I like most is that you can place and edit bones where you want, so it avoids the problems of wrongly placed bones Mixamo does so often. It's great!

There's a few ways to handle it. You can paint weights, or you can add separate joints/controllors and animate those. When you have loose clothing/objects, it ads more complexity to the rig. I hope that helps!

this plugin has multiple errors with the maya 2020 for animating a character though i switch my setting to DG in the animation preferences the viewport has some issues but after it got baked in maya it was good in DG ( evaluation mode settings), & ive finished my character animating I've exported it to FBX, it works fine in unity engine but if I export that same fbx to Blender it doesn't import the animation at all.
I don't know why but sometimes when i change some of the faces of a skinned object it make the model too huge As if I rotate some of the joints, Maya will crash! This also happens when I port a model from another software... Can you pls help me fox this?

@@LifeIsPain878 It all comes down to the how much working knowledge u have and if you can make it work somehow. But if you do it the way that you are suggesting u will run into alot of problems. Mixamo basically doesnt give u an actual rig, it just gives you bones(joints hierarchy) with animation baked onto them. If you bring a skeleton created in mixamo to maya, you will have to unbind and parent that to the advanced skeleton face. But I would never do it this way. What i would do is use advanced skeleton to add the entire skeleton, body plus facial to the mesh, bind and weight it properly and then send it to mixamo to add animations.

I think it will because there are so many automatic rigging plug ins. But the issue is that if it isn't perfectly biped, then you have to know how to rig. Imagine a half snake characters, wings, so on.

Why didn't I bind my character to my character instead of adjusting the bounding box to a distance from my character. It bothered me for a long time.
I remeber the bounding box should fit the character exactly, that's how you get the controllers at the right size.

Switch the animation to DG mode in the animation preferences
AccuRig is a new alternative to Mixamo, which is much more accurate and has more bones. It doesn't have a good control making script out though.

when i dropped the T-Pose file into maya all i had was the rig not the model, how do i get the t pose model to show up??
Try deleting the original models (or relabeling it). Then import the file. I hope that helps!
