In all honesty, it's very common for people to lie about hauntings/ possessions in order to receive attention or get out of a house they just can't afford. My girlfriend's cousin lied about his daughter being possessed so the church would buy him a new house. I firmly believe the Amytiville House was made up by the family for publicity. The Lutz family was the only family to report anything paranormal.

When my husband was around 4 years old, my mother in law recalls a day when she was vacuuming in the living room, as he was sitting on the couch, eating a box of raisins, and watching cartoons. He calls out to her and she stops the vacuum to ask what he needed. He asks "Can I share my raisins with him?". Since they were the only ones home, she was confused and asked "who?". He said "the man in all the black clothes". She asked where the man was, and he tells her that he was just standing behind her. Creepy. He didn't want to tell me that story because he thought I'd think he was crazy. Had I not had my own experiences growing up, I probably would have.

Now I myself haven't seen a shadow person myself, but I believe they're real because I know someone who did.
I'll preface this with stating my grandmother doesn't suffer from dimentia or anything you would assume an old person might have that might discredit this, and that she is very adamant to calling others nutcases or hypochondriacs. That's why I believe her when she told me that her and my sister saw a shadow person in their house (as well as some other factors that convinced me.)
There were 2 other reasons why I ended up believing her story. The first, and most convincing, was where the shadow was seen. She told me that it walked from one side of the living room where a hallway leading to both bathrooms in the house and into the kitchen. The same hallway that me and every other sibling and cousin of mine were terrified of. We never had any answer why we felt a dark aura from it, but we tended to sprint thru it whenever we needed to use the washroom.
The other reason, is that the only other way a shadow could've been cast from outside would've required someone to have been right up near the window. The problem is that when you did, the turquoise tinted porch light would turn itself on, but she told me it never did.

I've seen a shadow person! I was about 14 years old and was already an insomniac. Getting up multiple times in the night was nothing new to me and I'm always alert when this happens. It was about 3:00 or 4:00am when I got up to use the bathroom. When I was washing my hands, I looked up into the mirror and saw a shadow person standing behind me. They were about 6 feet tall and solid black. Naturally I jump and turn around. Nothing. Turn on the light. No one there.

This is only true for the tall ones. According to many shadow people legends, if they are under 4 foot, they are friendly. But anything above 6 foot is hostile.

The door close but kinda agressively then i was like "what the hell usually mom always comes to see me and kiss me in the forehead and says good night but why did she leave" then i went to the door thinking it was my mom but i saw a shadow standing on the end of the hall it was really tall like almost 7 feet it was like 6'9 feet or something then i try to talk but i knew it wasn't mom the first thing that pop on my mind was "my dad?" But no my dad wasn't with me anymore not "dead" but in a other place with another family basically "divorce" i wanted to say "who are you?" But i couldn't talk it was like my body knew that i wasn't suppose to be there so i try to close the door but i was froze then the large figure turn around and start to walk slowly then my body react through bare instinct and close the door and lock it as fast as posible then i felt asleep and the other day i've heard that guy name "charlie" die in that house and he was a tall guy the same size as the shadow i saw later that night then my mom decide to move and so we did and nothing has happend up to these day...and i hope it never happens again(i was like 10 when it happend so I'm like basically 22 so it was a long time ago" i still remember it clearly oh and i've hear that that house was demolish a couple of years since that day) and it wasn't in United states I'm a latino so basically it was in Spain as my vacation but still go 1 time at a year to see my mom and family once again lol

I've got a shadow people story:
First of all, I don't believe in ghosts or anything supernatural but about 10 years ago I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a black figure of some guy standing in the middle of my bedroom, looking directly at me. I jumped out of bed in panic mode and ran past it to turn on the lights. Once I reached the other side of the room and turned on the lights I turned around and saw the figure disappearing into thin air. -- I remember standing there for a couple of minutes, eyes wide open, checking every corner of the room to make sure "he" (because I thought it could've been a burglar) wasn't hiding anywhere. After some time had passed I came to the conclusion it was just a very vivid product of my imagination, but it scared the living crap out of me nonetheless.

I’ve had a experience. One time I was in bed, at around 3am I woke up to the door open. It was winter btw, so I woke up, and I saw a head peep out of my door, and a few mins, later, it was gone.

I saw a shadow person once. There were loads of weird things happening in the house I grew up in. You could hear things moving around in the attic all the time when nobody was up there. Heavy weights being dragged across the floor and clanking against each other. I started noticing that my closet door would be cracked open in the mornings when I woke up. I made sure it was closed all the way. You can't pull it open without turning the knob but every morning it would be open. I stacked heavy things in front of the door and even wedged shoes under the bottom. I literally could not open it myself even when turning the knob. Still, every morning it would be cracked open. this went on every day for years. One night I just happened to be awake laying in bed but not able to fall asleep. I heard a click and then the door started creaking open. I sat up and yelled "just leave me alone". the closet door swung open and a shadow flew toward me from the closet. I immediately hid under my blanket and then something tapped me on the head 3 times. I jumped up and the shadow flew back into the closet and the door slammed shut. I heard creepy laughter coming from inside the closet. I ran out of my bedroom and checked to see if my parents and sisters were in bed. They all were. I woke my dad up but of course when he checked there was nobody in the closet. the door opening happened for about 10 years. The shadow figure happened when I was a teenager. A lot of creepy things happened in that house but this comment is already too long. I should make a video on it. :)
