I like how Bob is talking like every beginner keyboard enthusiast. “This is the perfect...” three years from now it will be a crazy mess with custom printed ergonomic plates inserts and hot swappable switches.
And in my opinion low profile keys are not my cup of tea. Full fledged keys and thunderous clicky switches for me!!

The year is 20XX, everyone plays Fox with mechanical keyboards instead of stick and d-pad. Keys are the only viable input left… Humanity has reached its pinnacle… The peasants are living in poverty… Tournaments are decided by who gets the lower profile keys, as they allegedly give an advantage with faster reaction times.

Fight Sticks being easy to modify is very much the fun of owning them if you go to fighting game tournaments all the people with their custom fight sticks with like new buttons and a ball topper and art for the top panel is very nice to see

I finally downloaded a few months ago after seeing one of his Honey sponsored videos and it really is great. I've gotten a few coupons I never would've known about otherwise.
Unfortunately, it kinda sucks if you're not in the US. I'm in Germany and it's extremely rare that I save any money with it. Still, it's free :)

From a guy who already has multiple fight sticks and plays a lot of 2D games on roms and has always loved fighters, you actually got me considering trying this keyboard key mod because it looks so easy. I dunno tho, I feel a lot of the magic of using a proper arcade stick will be lost
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this controller just kinda came out and is one of the most versatile fight sticks at a fraction of the cost of most entry level options. Sure, it's not perfect for everyone, but MAN the things you can do with this feel criminal.

I was planning to make an arcade machine with just a cheap computer in side of a nice wooden shell using an emulator the part that was the most expensive was an arcade stick/buttons but the 8-bit do one would work great for it time to continue that dream

Now change the main board inside the stick, the 8bitdo has a little over 100 ms input delay in switchmode (only switch mode, pc mode is fine with 30ms). I would suggest a brook universal fight board to mod into it and you'll be superfine (and super easy to do).
Is 30ms even acceptable? isn't wired like, 0? This is preventing me from bothering with wireless stuff.
I've been looking to do this with my Mayflash F500. Can't wait!

When I saw it first I thought that 8BitDo Made custom keyboard part that is required just to hotswap and screw. My point is it really looks natural.
Great to see the ODIN getting more coverage! I bought one from their very first batch a couple of years ago, and was apparently the first in Europe to get one. Was near perfect from the get go; they are a talented team. I got a bunch of switches from OMNI and love the jade ones in particular. For 50 USD it was an insane bargain, especially for how solid it is and that it is so easy to install.
I have a PDP Versus Wired Controller which has some really awsome microswitches in the D-Stick and the buttons so feels just like mech KB buttons, the d-stick feels just like a proper arcade joystick, so good for obviously fighting games, but also it's amazing for shmups, platformers and tons of arcade games on Mame for example, it's also perfect for Neo Geo games as it is identical to the Neo Geo original gamepad with its microswitches. Would relly love a retro handheld with a d-stick and mech buttons, a Joycon with a mech d-stick would be nice too.
Hmm, that'd be sweet if 8bitdo makes their own controller like this in the future. I'm ass at trying to take things apart and put things back together. But I would love playing games like this!

I always have a plan to replace the stick on my 8bitdo arcade stick with a keyboard pad like this odin in your video but never really do it because I've never seen someone really do it, especially because of the 8 pin connector at the pcb.

I've actually thought up something like the ODIN, due to me liking keyboards for fighting games and wanting to make my own custom stick without soldering. Glad someone made it for me. Another day of someone else doing the hard work and getting my money

This seems like a GREAT tabletop pokemon controller! The switch can be pretty inconvenient when you want to reset or shiny hunt in pokemon while multitasking, so this could def make it easier!

its nice to see someone who was "the dpad makes or breaks the controller" allow their minds to open up to alternative possibilities.
I myself prefer the "touch dpad" of the steam controller ; customizeable deadzones and overlap regions allow me to basically set how sensitive the diagonals are to avoid accidental inputs, while still working similarly to a dpad by using the thumb.
Next episode he goes back to joysticks bc bob realized its Mario played with a PC keyboard. Which is insane. ;)

I would recommend seimitsu buttons if you're looking for more precision. Sanwa, as great as they are, are much more pressure sensitive.

Hey! A tip to make you have more rest area for your wrist. Pop it open, Glue stuck some magnets to the bottom.
Make your own wrist rest attachment as i am assuming no other keyboards wrist rest is high enough for the stick.
And slap in a magnet and there you go. a nice wrist rest.

Wulffden since your interested in cherry mx switches I recommend the crown/samducksa buttons. They come with silver mx switches but you can always change them to other such as the blue ones.
