- A 14-year-old girl has been diagnosed with a rare condition after she woke up one morning paralyzed. She may never fully recover if she doesn't get the help she needs and the treatment is expensive.
If I was rich. I can't imagine how good it would feel to pay for this girl treatment and recovery 😞
She looks so positive and brave. I hope she recovers soon!
Hi My daughter got TM when she was turning 15 exactly the same way as you and 6 years later she is still paralyzed. If you have feeling already, then you will probably recover. Check out her video on RUclips that my niece made. It's called Olivia's story. You sound like a really tough kid, just like Olivia. Good luck!
the children's hospital in Atlanta takes such good care of you, I had temporary paralysis there, but I soon regained feeling, but my point- they're great and very nice.
kasey marie i am so happy 4 u hun
I'm annoyed that we live in a world where there is a treatment to help a 14-year old girl possibly walk again, and she could possibly not get it. Like, "We'd love to help you, but you're too poor to be helped. We know you already have it rough already by not being able to afford fancy things, but we're going to go ahead and let you have it even rougher by not being able to walk. It's okay. You're poor. You're used to not getting things your way."
Lauren Thompson so true
We have to come together to make sure she gets the treatment instead of waiting on someone else

I'm sure you could donate $10 that would help.
Thats why i love the nhs
She fully recovered as seen here in this story - abcnews.go.com/Health/teen-woke-paralyzed-now-walking-running/story?id=29388109
I have TM too. Same story. Woke up one day and couldn't move my legs. Couldn't feel ice on my back. 6 years later i still use my wheelchair on long outings but can walk in the house now. And less falls. I can have showers by myself finally! No one is alone, Stay strong, stay positive, keep fighting. You can all do this.
So sad to see if she was in the UK she wouldn't of had to worry about costs of medical treatment
Bear 2017 you should do some research it won't be free for much longer Cameron sold lots of our NHS to private companies. Their bringing in charges slow but sure people who don't use the NHS much won't know how it's all changed and not for the better!
being a decent human is free..
@@Batya-Grace joyful noise shut the hell up
I will shout on the toof tops if I have to! Human euthanasia is evil!
Yeah, maybe after 8 to 12 years of waiting for NHS processing, she'd be able to get sub-par treatment that the private healthcare industry would find laughable.
My cousin works at Shepherds in Atlanta and it is amazing!! We recently went to their annual fashion show that they have there called "Project Rollaway" and it was incredible!!!!! Everyone was so excited to tell their story and to just have fun!!
i am being a paralysed person can understand her condition. one thing one can do is to never lose hope. I was paralysed in March 2014, my full right side was paralysed. So i would like to say NEVER EVER EVER LOSE HOPE whatever the world want to say .
navdeep singh bhangu yup never say never i always say that ever since i was little u fight u try alot of people who have been paralyzed walk now i watch them on youtube and people with brain damage well they may no speak well but they can walk somewhat i like ur possitive thoughts 2 tell people not 2 give up i like that
She got better, and as of 2015 was walking and running again.
turn to Jesus!!!
I hope that this young lady is able to walk again. I wish her and her family nothing but the best for their future.
If you are going to report on a story learn the proper terms, and it's called transverse myelitis, not myetitis wth
tranquility you are right
Ty hon
is it just me or does she look like an early 2000's version of Taylor Swift herself?
....
ok, just me...
Helen Engelke YESSS LOL 😂
I was waiting for that comment
Im Terrified of that
Omg she looks like taylor swift
taya hawkins she does lol
I drive by that hospital every day, I hope to see you walking out of there soon!
I was thinking she looks like t swift and then they started singing to her hana
Can't believe the journalist who did the Intro screwed up the pronunciation of TM! I've had it over 12 years now.
Did she get HPV vaccine?
myLitis not myTitis
I had it when I was 3 and I am 13 and I sell have it
Any updates?? 2019 🤔

dorian taylor that is great well u both have ur whole loves ahead of u
And you guys do not want a NHS this girl would be able to walk again just for a small amount of tax how selfish do you people get America is a god damn buissness.
Not sure but she appears to have either minimal movement in her feet or she was having muscle spasms - her feet had some sort of movement at 1.18 for a few seconds.
+Karen Larke did you watch the video?
Yes I did
She said that she now has me minimal movement in her toes
+Karen Larke yes I did
Paralysis means lack of control not like a movement in a paraplegic for 7 years and I still have movement
Transverse "Mititis" sounds like a horrendous mainstream-media disease. Six years on, audience wishes her all the best. Cheers!
Did you take the Gardasil or hpv ?????
Like, even though your spine got hosed, you're totally awesome. You go, girl!
This is EXACTLY what happened to me six months ago. Luckily I am walking again but the only thing keeping me from being paralysed again is the steroids im on. I've had 4 relapses in six months as the doctors have tried to take my steroids away from me as it's getting dangerous to be on them for too long....I have no recieved any help and am currently being told to ween down off of my steriods AGAIN, despite all the relapses i've had from doing this. No doctor has been able to help me. So if you have suffered from the same thing and you get the right treatment please let me know- Surely steroids isn't the answer as it's not helping )':
Ur not alone. Same thing happened to me to. Stay strong, stay positive, you got this.
My husband had TM, then had ,ots of relapses, was then told it was Multiple Sclerosis , is on Tecfedera meds now.
I don’t fully understand how you feel but I know at first its tuff. I had to pretty much retrain my right foot how to walk again. Hope you get better
So sad, she's such a sweet girl, I hope she gets better soon.
Omg..... dear God bless her plz 😢😢😢I am so sad
I got TM when I was 28, I'm almost 42 now. I was paralyzed from the mid-chest down, but recovered movement in my right leg, and upper trunk, but not much in my left leg. I can walk with crutches and a KAFO brace on my left leg. I still have no feeling in about half my body and what feeling I do have is not normal. I mostly use a wheelchair now but for about 8 years I walked more than used it.
marieke d i was saying in one of the comments never say never cause there r people that r paralyzed and walk again there r people also with brain damage that walk and well somewhat talk i seen them on youtube
kimmie965 it’s been 18 years and my body has broken down further bc of it.. I hope they find a way to cure spinal cord injuries/disease, but I do not believe it’ll be in my lifetime.
Jessica keep that attitude that you're going to recover I'm paralyzed and in a wheelchair 100% behind you I don't let anything get me down you go girl!
only on weekends oh i like that lol i am sure u will walk 1 day also
*WE ALL HOPE THE BEST FOR YOU JESSICA*
6 years later how is she doing ??
I’m goin g to give you 100,0000000000
Shepherd hospital 😭
Sending my love
I also got diagnosed with transverse myelitis August of 2020. I still haven’t gained anything back. It also took my bladder control.
I hope u get better
Transverse mitits!!!!
Did she recover?
Why did I think she was giant based on the thumbnail picture lol. I hope she gets better
She will get treatment there is someone out there that will donate enough money for you to go to the hospital in Atlanta Georgia.
Get well Jessica such a beautiful young smart girl ❤️🌷
our son is the same way! he was going to be like his dad because he wants to do the same sports that his dad did in high school he will one day walk again and be like his dad one day! he is paralyzed from the chest down!
Taylor swift, is that you?
Hope she gets treatment ❤❤
ellie pamela i think she will
Poor girl. Hope she recovers
If it’s inflammation wouldn’t normally the body recovery it? I mean, inflamed damage wears of.
But I ain’t no dr...
The inflammation can cause swelling in and around the spinal cord which essentially squeezes the spinal cord until it’s crushed, to put it in simple terms. That’s why the paralysis can be permanent even though the cause for the paralysis isn’t an accident but an auto immune reaction in the body that causes the inflammation
Jeff will pray 4 u to get healed amen
sit down, lool i get it good joke
Someone got her shoes...
'Mytitus', get it right
not that good
what a girl
My sister is diagnosed with a generic disease where it starts in ur legs and paralyzed them and there like having basically dead Lima and it's getting worse and worse and is starting to reach her arms in crying for her she is only 14 and I'm 13 I just want to be able to run with her again but God Won't answer my prayers but I'll keep praying

+Thi Hoang 黃詩 thAnk u so much we will need as many prayers as we can get
+Evan Serynek No problem. I will tell all my friends to pray as well.
+Thi Hoang 黃詩 thx
had she recently been injected with a vaccine?
Is402831 vaccines are nothing to do with things like this, stop trying to cause shit, if vaccines were so bad then why have ALOT of diseases become near non existent in more developed countries and are only beginning to come back due to retired pretending they cause things they don't and not vaccinating their kids, not vaccinating children is fucking dangerous and it's proving that due to the spread of measles etc that are prevented through vaccines, spread dumb crap all you want but they can't and won't be approved if they are shown to cause things, it's hilarious that some people ink they cause autism, when you can't just get autism like that, you're either born wi it or you're not, like most things, fucking idiot
I think that I have asked a legitimate question. Vaccines do cause injuries so that is why I asked
Is402831 I agree. It doesn’t happen to everybody but there are a few unlucky people out there who have cytokine responses destroying their immune system and body. I hate it when people treat this thing like it’s a religion…
Vaccines don’t cause paralysis
Vaccines have never been proven to cause ANY injuries of ANY kind. Shut your uneducated fucking mouth.
Lmao
What does that mean?
