- In this English lesson, we look at how to use TO BE with Adjectives in the Present Tense.
We look at making positive sentences of To Be + Adjective and give an example with each form of To Be in the present tense.
Next we look at making negative sentences with To Be and Adjectives using the order: To Be + Not + Adjective
Then we look at making questions with To Be and adjectives.
Next we give examples of affirmative and negative sentences using opposites.
Finally, we have some practice exercises.

Las Vegas is a modern city. Las Vegas can be clean and dirty. My students think that their home cities are more dangerous than Las Vegas, but it is dangerous and safe. My city is large. Its name is Santo Domingo which is the capital of Dominican Republic and where I've lived as long as I can remember haha. I can say that It's a modern city in itself... It isn't like Tokyo or something like that haha. My city is clean, the residents do their best to keep it that way. Uhm... the security issue is a bit hard to accept but it's livable. I consider my city is beautiful, it's a good place to live in, houses are beautiful, etc.

My city isn't large but every year it is getting bigger. Most of the big buildings are built in the 90s. Cleanliness and safety are being practiced however there are a lot of homeless and beggars on part of the city.

I live in Lecce that is a nice city, placed across south Puglia (Italy).
It’s not too much big, and that’s a positive aspect because it’s easier to get around. Bear in mind that you can across it entirely by bike. In particular, I really like the city center where it’s enjoyable to have a walk. It’s clean and well hold thank to tourism which is becoming more and more important during all year long. In fact, Lecce was recently called “The capital of Barocco” which is a specific art that characterizes its churches and monuments. But not only art, you can find a lot of restaurants and pubs where you can eat very well without spending a lot.
Obviously, you know, every single city has some problems. For example, if you go away from the downtown, there are some neighborhoods which can be dirtier, poorer and more dangerous than others. In this case, I’m sure that the main cause is the citizen who has not the right mindset. On the other hand, the administrations and police should provide more controls.

It's not too big... (you don't put "much" before an adjective)... Too + adjective.
... and well kept/maintained thanks to tourism... ...important all year long (you don't need "during" because "long" refers to a duration).

I live in a small city called Natal, it is in the northeast of Brazil. It also is modern and clean, but we have to be careful because it's a little bit dangerous. Natal isn’t boring there is a beautiful seaside with amazing lagoons, perfect beaches and the sun is shining almost all of the year.

I live in a small and crowded city. It has different kinds of people. European, Spanish, Indian, Chinese, and so on. It is a diverse city. It has many modern buildings in central point. Streets are full of people and shopping malls. Sometimes people feel pressure because anythings change too fast. But it is a good living place as where is a clear and safe city.
