    Jody, thank you for bringing this story to the public. You are very gracious. I don't think I could have held my tongue. Chris Milton and Olivia Stewman are both ignorant and arrogant. They both may have done some hard work, maybe even heroic things in this catastrophe but those early hours were crucial to save lives. This was an unprecedented event and normal regulations and procedures should have been worked around immediately. Instead of welcoming aircraft to rescue people in hard to get to places they risked the victims and their own lives trying to get to them. Ridiculous. They'd rather put a boat in or throw a rope over a raging river to try and rescue someone than let a chopper fly in, pick up and bring people to safety much quicker and safer. Unbelievable.
    Jordan you and your son are extraordinary people and I thank you for all of your efforts. I am so glad y'all were able to save people and help so many.
    To the Coffeys, I am so glad y'all survived and found each other again. God bless y'all. I think a whole lot of other people could have been saved if things were handled differently. Our gubbermint should have had 1000s of our troops across the entire destruction from Helene the morning of. I continue to pray for everyone affected by the evil hurricane Helene. 🙏

    Without a “TFR” (Temporary Flight Restriction) established by the FAA the local police or fire department has ABSOLUTELY no authority to prohibit aviation activities! These local yokels with a tin badge thought they had a LOT more authority than they did! They needed to stay in their lane.

      There is a video of a man confronting several police officers and there chief asking about the 42,000 dollars worth of generators that was in the building at 7am and gone at 9am. The officers and the chief were there with the generators and other supplies. Man leaves to get a trailer or a list to go get a trailer and a list of addresses or where these generators were going to Police Department was there a gardener he comes back they're all gone I saw a small story about 2 weeks later for the police chief and several officers have been put on leave generators were found at the brother-in-law's house of the fire of the police chief the police chief says that after the gentleman left less than 10 minutes FEMA came in and take this generators to this address they didn't belong to FEMA the man let's get the trailer that was his building his property his generators the police department knew that

    One of the most important words I learned working in law enforcement was "Discretion". The Asst. Fire Chief reacted inappropiatly to the situation and in doing so put peoples lives in danger and should be held accountable. But in all probability he will not. The asst fire chief and the emergency management director should not be the same person. Those are 2 entirely different Jobs. Requiring different skills.

    Here’s what I think is something interesting to point out, IF anyone from the chief, the lady answering the questions on the Chiefs behalf or any of their families would need to be rescued he would have moved the earth to make sure it was being done regardless of who was flying a helicopter out. Seems to me the Chief is a person that likes to be the one in control regardless of the severity of the situation.
    It’s all about what he wants done! When he wants it done! How he wants it done! His rules and only his rules.
    I bet a higher official contacted that chief and informed him to allow people to help, since the situation is considered a severity!!
    I would be ashamed to be related to someone who did something like that. Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable behavior, especially by a government official employee who’s supposed to be in service of helping people out however it gets done.

    Right at that point and now who really cares about what the chief or assistant chief of the fire department or law enforcement cares when the only people who showed they cared about the victims who were stranded and terrified because of the devastation Helene did to The North Carolina people. The Governor and most of the law enforcement and FEMA have shown the world they simply did not care about the victims. It’s only because of RUclips Channels that people are being called out for not caring or doing their jobs to rescue and help the people in North Carolina. I think I would have went back and got that man and then let them arrest me. Proving to the world RUclipsrs were more concerned about the victims than the governor and most of the people trained to do the rescues. I don’t think anybody will ever forget what the governor and all the so called experts did not do to help the victims. To all the people who did rescue people and delivered much needed supplies of all things the victims needed. God Bless You All. We The People Have To Depend On Each Other Because Clearly The Officials did not and still do not care. PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE ARE NORTH CAROLINA STRONG!!!

    I believe that the fire chief that threatened to arrest the guy in the helicopter the fire chief he should lose his job or demote him there was a better way to inform him and in a respectful way to let him know way he can't go round and pick people up that he needs to have special clearance to go round rescuing people. I have no respect for that fire chief that's threatening too arrest people that are out there trying to help people

    This is such a heart-wrenching story and I'm glad to see it. This pilot is a fine man. No doubt about that. But I'm puzzled. The Robinson R-44 copter holds four people. Any explanation as to why they all four couldn't fly out at the same time?

    • @P_RO_
      @P_RO_ 14 часов назад +2

      He could have had cargo aboard, the seating layout may not have allowed more, and the altitude and weather conditions might not have safely allowed more. It's the pilot's decision to make because only he knows the complete situation. He was doing all he felt he could safely do so let's respect that and him.

    How many passengers does that chopper hold?

    • @P_RO_
      @P_RO_ 14 часов назад +1

      First you need to understand that capacity can vary based on weather, elevation, your fuel load,and many other things including the layout of seating. This is an R44 and has a maximum capacity of 5 if the seating is arranged for that etc. For whatever reason the pilot didn't feel it was safe to have more than 2 aboard total and his decision should be respected because only he knew the conditions and capabilities of the aircraft and himself.

      Unfortunately they don't go by need, but by a cumbersome and inefficient "Incident Command" system which has roots back in the Republican passed "Patriot Acts" which were made into law after 9/11. In a declared disaster area they have total control and can do whatever they want to, while your civil rights are suspended.
