Oh honey wait til you watch other dance performances of Hyunjin. He's never been afraid to tap into his feminine side and in my opinion has a really beautiful balance of both in fact this was slightly newer in terms of hyunjin's dance style, not saying he's never this type of hard hitting aggressive choreo before but it's the first time it's in this type of light. I reccomend you check out "Hyunjin's play with fire" dance which he choreographed himself. Shows much more of the kind of feminine soft energy you saw towards the end.
And also his dance cover for "When the party's over". It's more modern and contemporary dance. It's my absolute favourite and he choreographed this one as well.
I noticed that part too. You’re totally not alone. It’s been said a few times already but I absolutely recommend ‘Play With Fire’ which Hyunjin choreographed himself. I love your reactions!
@@Psynergic It's also even better watching Play With Fire when you consider he'd been on hiatus for months (i mean ZERO appearances with the rest of the group, it was quite a bit controversial) and that was basically his come back video. We were all so happy to see him and the POWER of the performance instantly solidified it into an iconic moment
One of Hyunjin's biggest dance idols is Taemin of SHINee, who is on the record repeatedly talking about wanting to show choreography and styling that's considered "genderless," and embracing his natural femininity. As someone that's followed Taemin and SHINee since 2014, and Stray Kids since late 2017/start of 2018, I've seen this idea grow in Taemin and how much it's impacted Hyunjin's growth as a dancer. Personally I think that's where his biggest strength lies. To me, there's nothing sexier than someone of any gender embracing their femininity, so the moments where Hyunjin lets go of the traditional masculine energy in the choreo and becomes more fluid, more light, it's just beautiful. My favorite moment is when he's laid on the ground, picked back up, and let go of- His expression is stunning and as he gently lowers his arms they look like wings. He's just amazing. Since everyone's already given their Hyunjin suggestions, in case you don't know him and ever get curious about Taemin, I'd recommend Move, Want, and Criminal, though the Move choreography is best seen in a dance practice rather than the MV. Many people also enjoy his most recent song Advice.
I live for that "shift" moment in this dance. As much as I love this performance, I actually love his "Play with Fire" even more. In AOTM, he went for a mafia concept in which he's the boss. He wanted to try something different, so the choreographer came up with this; while _obviously_ Jinnie can kill this style, he usually incorporates more fluidity, while Lee Know (SKZ's dance leader and thus also part of Danceracha) is the one who tends to be more focused on hiphop and hard-edged, sharp, hyper-precise styles. Otoh, Hyunjin choreographed "Play with Fire," himself, and it's absolutely perfectly suited to him, specifically, and highlights his fluidity alongside his sharpness, elegance with insanity (his word) . Plus, it was released as an "I'm back, b1tches!" statement after a seriously sh1tty, stressful few months, and its entire theme of the seemingly perfect prince slowly devolving, shedding layers (or buttons, in the case of his shirt), becoming almost feral, all while remaining silenced/choked, was the most fitting punctuation that hell time could have ever received. AOTM is awesome, and it'll leave someone going "Whoa!" "Play with Fire" leaves one with mouth agape while clutching their chest. Both are fantastic performances, but if I had to choose, it'd be PWF.
Hyunjin is literally one of the most well rounded and talented artists. He is also a sweetheart and funny as heck. He spoke about having zero self esteem and self worth in the last few months, and it’s painful to see him struggle. He is such a genuinely incredible person.
Their Kingdom performance of their version of BtoB's I'll Be Your Man. Hyunjin present when they were doing Kingdom but the group has some amazing performances.
You should react to Hyunjin's "Play With Fire" Cover, he choreographed it himself. I can already imagine you gonna get crazy, I still can't get over it. He's too hot to handle and so talented.
Hyunjin's dancing is this perfect combination of grace and strength and it kills me every time. Off to watch your Play With Fire reaction, because that dance changed my life...
I loved your reaction! Thank you so much for watching. He's not called K-pop perfomance leader for nothing. Hyunjin is one of the most powerful artist I've seen, his duality is not joke, his technique, his facial expressions are lit perfect. One the best things is that he's always improving and dancing different genres and styles. You can never tell what Hyunjin will do next time cuz he'll blow up your expectations.
He killed it, his musicality is insane lol. Just came from your breakdown of silent cry and secret secret and as someone who really loves diving into lyrics I Would love your break down of their song Slump. I’d also recommend side effects Or Levanter. Both were incredibly intristic and reflective songs that I feel the lyrics don’t get talked about enough.
I’ve seen some of Hyunjin’s dance videos mentioned. Wasn’t sure if I also saw Psycho mentioned yet? It’s with Hyunjin and 3 others, from different groups. They’re all the same age. Enjoy the Hyunjin Fancam from Psycho. The full camera version is also amazing :)
During Stray Kids interview when they got recognition from Studio Choom for getting 50M views for their God's Menu video, Hyunjin mentioned his favorite part on his AOTM video was the part in the beginning where he was wearing a cap which covered partly his face.. since this was new for him it showcased his dancing skills.. and not just be judge immediately just by seeing his handsome face
His AOTM is iconic. His movements are sexy, sharp, strong yet light, elegant and his facial expressions are always on pint. I really think he is a true artist, the best dancer and performer of his generation and one of the best in the industry. Visual king, dancing god and performance leader. I highly recommend Play With Fire and When the Party is over, both choreographed by him. Thanks for reacting :)
Pls checkout his "play w fire" it definitely has more of the 'feminine' element to it, which he beautifully potrays♡ and you're not alone towards the end he actually had a shift* sooo Good!?!?
The man loves an Americano! I hope it helps. This was choreographed for him, not his usual style. He has 2 other dance videos, The Party's Over by Billie Elish and Play With Fire, both he choreographed. Also there is a fancam of his from Psycho that shows a much more fluid aspect. Loved your reaction as usual.
i cant wait for your reaction to the behind the scenes, its so good and you can see his thoughts behind the whole thing. Plus he looks so good i it too ❤❤❤
Love your reaction to Stray Kids 💗 Please check Changbin streetlight, Han alien, Changbin with Seungmin piece and secret secret too this song very meaningful 🥺💗
Hyunjin aotm honestly was best ever aotm like it was another level, hyunjin is best performer in 4th gen boys he's known for best facial expression, so many people even professional dancers say hyunjin reminds them of kai and teamin style, hyunjin has both energy he's so sexy and has a masculine sense like kai and feminine like teamin style, hyunjin is really great
this was such a good reaction! i really liked your breakdown regarding hyunjin's both masculine and feminine dancing style. you should definetly check out 'red lights', it's a unit song between hyunjin and bangchan. it's rlly good!! (also has sort of a 50 shades of gray concept which is so interesting LMAO)
if you want to see a more emotional and different side to hyunjin and his dancing, i really recommend watching his self choreographed cover of "when the party's over"; he said he wanted to convey the feeling of emptiness he experiences after a concert or performance is over and i think the dance really shows his passion, versatility and him being a very emotionally expressive person in general. it is still by far my favorite dance of his :)
We can all agree that shift is our favorite part because that's actually the most Hyunjin thing in this performance. The fact this is new for us STAY too lol. His self choreographed dance covers do express his emotions and thoughts more. They are way more neutral and less aggressive than this one. Ofc they are both good because it's our boy and we love him always trying new things. Thank you for this reaction. I really enjoy your talk and the different perspective you bring. This might be a bit too much but please feel free to react to the contents you like in your own pace don't be affected by STAY🤣 skz code ep8 and 9 are just cute and funny content but I really curious about how people react to that Hyunjin after seeing his AOTM. His duality is phenomenal.
Thank you for the reaction! thanks And looking forward to more reactions to their songs by a mental specialist ☺️ They actually just dropped M/V, it’s pretty depressive. And it was written by, surpriise (not really), Han - the same guy who wrote Secret secret.
I am soo happy you wached thşs. He is actually very difrect style. Watch Hyunjin-Play with fire. that is his original style. he said he wanted to try something diffrent and tougher for artist of the mounth. And pleaaseee watch Hyunjin- Gods menu- fancam studio choom. Its a master piece. Also Fyunjin fancam psyco. BESTIEEE HE IS SO PERFECT
I know that others have mentioned his Play with Fire (it’s sooo good) but his When the Party’s Over actually made me emotional. I highly suggest that one as well. He choreographed both dances so you get to see his growth but also his emotional responses to the things he had no control over. He didn’t run and hide, he very much said “I’m here and I’m hurting and I’m not going to hide it.”
What I love about him is that he tries a different style/vibe every time! I'm always excited for what he'll show next. As everyone else has said, you definitely have to see Play With Fire. You'll lose your mind, as we all have already lol
For getting to know them, one fun one is "stray kids find out how well they know each other" which they did with Buzzfeed. I'm still holding out for a Buzzfeed puppy interview though, they're always my favourites 🥰
That shift..it's Hyunjin's duality. You can observe it in everything he does, even off screen. He always gave us something uniquely different each time, never a dull moment. Always came as a surprise...a good one. With each contents he dropped, it feels like he's growing his individuality exponentially. And we're so proud of the man he is.
I know others have recommended it but play with fire is so good! I was dumb and watched it while I was at work and it nearly killed me lol! He also did a more emotional piece to when the parties over by Billie eilish which was also beautiful and killed me in a very different way! And yes Hyunjin also likes coffee! I believe he’s a fan of iced americanos
My favourite part is at 4:00, when he has that crazy/insane laugh for a second before he shakes his head as if to clear his mind again. He also did this in "Play with Fire" and I lose it every time. I hope he keeps doing this in his future performances because this expression is just WOW
Please reaction to hyunjin play with fire choreography by himself it's best ever he did 0 to 100 by himself even style makeup he's prince a real king make sure to attention to his face for facial expressions he killed us
If you love this pls watch his other dance performances. It's his self choreograph dances. And chose the song and did a choreo to express his own feelings. There are two self choreograph 1. When the party is over (hyunjin skz-player) 2. Play with fire (hyunjin skz-player) The first video, is his first ever self choreo video and it felt so so sad. He is that type of person who isn't able to express himself with words but instead with dances and that choreo felt so sad idk why. The second video is more like, "hey I'm back" yk? And there's alot of improvement too. The first video was more like ballet(?)
Again sorry for spamming but he actually has a behind the scenes for this if you wanted to check out his process for this! He was really nervous about showing off this new side of dance and you see a lot of his personality off stage which is a lot more soft and I’d even say a little shy when he’s not being loud with his members!
I appreciate your pause and attempt to explain the outdatedness of "masculine/feminine" in this context (any context, far as I'm concerned, but whatever). That's more than most bother with, so it shows you're aware. Fwiw, when I _have_ to describe this stuff, I generally fall back on the good old-fashioned "fem/butch" descriptors. They're understandable, they cover the concept, they're ungendered (any of y'all cis or exclusionary people come at me, I will _fight_ you)...and they're unlikely to send anyone vulnerable off into Triggered AF Land. (I've seen enough reactions to Hyunjin, to this dance, and to the spectacularly gender-policed world of dance in general, so I was at least braced for it because I was 95% certain you'd remark on it the same way other reactors have. Not everyone has that forewarning, and getting hit still hurts even when you're braced for it.) It's your channel; obviously you get to choose what you say/how you say it. But fwiw, this comment is my $.02 as one of the people very specifically affected by the bullsh1t that is arbitrary concepts of feminine and masculine that make life hell. (Well, everyone's affected by it. Just, y'know, the majority don't know or aren't bothered.)
Thanks for your comment, R M. As someone who works closely with those in the trans community professionally and personally (my own pronouns are he/they) I can certainly understand where you are coming from. As much as I don't like using the "traditional masc/fem" wording, it's often the easiest language for those who identify as cisgender/hetero. However, I do honestly think the masc/fem issue was germane to the conversation here - imo, it truly appeared as though he was going toward that "traditional" ultra masc look at first: police, body armor, dominating, the movements, etc. This is why I had the reaction that I did when he changed it! I LOVE when an artist breaks down "traditional" masc/fem walls. It's something that I talk about it a lot in my BL reactions. I hope this clears some things up! Feel free to reach out on Twitter if you'd like to discuss further! 💙

I love seeing that, which is why I got super excited! I will definitely check more of his work out! Thanks for recommending! 🙂💙
Oh and we continue to pray for that last button to keep his shirt together 😳🤔🥰
And also his dance cover for "When the party's over". It's more modern and contemporary dance. It's my absolute favourite and he choreographed this one as well.

Oh my, yes. Play with Fire is amazing. He says so much with his movements.

Well, I'm definitely writing this down! I'll make sure to have one in hand when/if I ever meet them! 😍💙

If you love this pls watch his other dance performances. It's his self choreograph dances. And chose the song and did a choreo to express his own feelings. There are two self choreograph
1. When the party is over (hyunjin skz-player)
2. Play with fire (hyunjin skz-player)
The first video, is his first ever self choreo video and it felt so so sad. He is that type of person who isn't able to express himself with words but instead with dances and that choreo felt so sad idk why. The second video is more like, "hey I'm back" yk? And there's alot of improvement too. The first video was more like ballet(?)
“His stance on coffee”
Stay brain: “americano jowa jowa”
He did a lyrical dance to "When the party's over" and it was beautiful! I believe he choreographed it himself. Check it out.
Again sorry for spamming but he actually has a behind the scenes for this if you wanted to check out his process for this! He was really nervous about showing off this new side of dance and you see a lot of his personality off stage which is a lot more soft and I’d even say a little shy when he’s not being loud with his members!
If you like idols not being afraid of being 'feminine' just watch 00s Psycho cover.
Can you react to volcano, happy and deep end by skz (solos)
Sorry for spamming lol but have you checked out him and Chan’s red light cause damn
unrelated to the reaction itself but i really love your shirt it’s so pretty
have you seen their new releases? it’s really good!
haha Thank you so much! It's definitely one of my favorite shirts! 😁
(and I actually just pulled them up this morning 😉)
Not everyone has that forewarning, and getting hit still hurts even when you're braced for it.)
It's your channel; obviously you get to choose what you say/how you say it.
You should watch the choreo-record for this one! He worked so hard and we're so proud 💗 ruclips.net/video/IRH5MuOWtDg/видео.html
