I was there. That evening. It was in Burbank, close to Hollywood. It was the NBC-Studio, and I managed to sneak into the backdoor (it was on the corner of the NBC-building and was as well used for the live-audience) when for a moment, the security-guard was inattentive. It was long before 9/11 - so there was no risk. I went through some dark and quiet corridors until I found the Sound-Control-Room. I knocked at the door and introduced myself, being a sound-technician from german TV-station NDR. Which was true. The sound-guy was surprised, that I found my way to get to him, and so he let me stay inside that Sound-Control-Room during this whole show! I remember, he had two mixing consoles: SSL 6000 for studio-PA and SSL 7000 for broadcast. 72 inputs. Unbelievable at that time. For many years I have checked RUclips to find a video of that evening. Now I have found it. Thank you! Words can not describe, how I felt back then - Watching Jonny Carson live from inside of his control-room. Almost 30 years ago. Close to Hollywood...

It is one of those stories, where I would have my doubts, even if a good friend would have told it to me. - I could not add any more word of evidence - it was 100% as I have described it, and it was one of those moments in life, where you realize the crazyness only a long time after they happened. At that time, on my 6 weeks-trip from Eureka to SF, LA, SD and LV, I hardly knew, who Johnny Carson was. - All I knew was, I want to get into any of those control-rooms at NBC. :-) Some weeks ago (as part of a RUclips-Video about NBC Burbank) I have even found a picture of exactly "MY" control-room! - And now I will start searching for that business-card, that I must have gotten from that sound-guy. So I could write to him and say "Thank You!" - it must be somewhere. - I don't want to bother you with my story - I was just surprised, that somebody has answered at all :-) Good luck, stay safe, Martin from Hamburg / Germany.

Johnny Carson was a talent scout in the early '60's. He caught Neil at The Bitter End. Unfortunately, Neil was not at his best that night...maybe that is why it took 25+ years to do Johnny's show?
Knowing he would be getting a divorce soon after, all these songs are about him and her , no matter what he is all about them 2, but it was a lie. He put his music first and had another woman 😮.
@cupcakeesnventura I Seriously doubt the breakup of their marriage was all his fault--Rarely Is It One sided.I Heard She WS Pressuring Him To Quit Touring And More or Less Scale Back On Everything Relating To His Career.No Excuse Of Course To Cheat But It Plays Into Their Breakup.

He had another woman, he put her in a house. A full relationship. So yeah , his wife was right to want him to stop leaving for months. Her and their teenage son was at home.
Yes @cupcakesnventura you are correct he admitted his faults and realized his part in their breakup-most likely mostly his fault but then we will most likely never know the full facts.at least unlike most Celebrities who Breakup their Was no Mudslinging involved and he has nothing but praise for marcia.They both Act like responsible people and keep in touch periodically about family matters.
