    Love all the comments!!!
As for the karens and soyboys. I'm sorry I was honest and other people have to lie and make to you feel secure.
I can promise you any amount of money I would absolutely know the difference between the snap-on and the icon if I was blind folded, Hell ray charles could tell the difference!!!
As far as politics are 100% apart of our lives the fact that people are telling me to not have a vested intrest where I spend my money is asinine!!
You have to be one fry short of a happy meal to give money to someone who puts it back into deconstructing the us constitutional rights, this absolutely makes zero sense why people want to be that foolish!!
Thank you for watching and supporting this country and our community!!

Anyone who watches this channel must remember that 85-90% or so , of the subs are Profesional Techs, we feed our families, pay our bills, go on vacation with the money we make using the tools we have to buy with our own money. So all DIYers don’t understand that a pair of $80 pliers is normal price for pliers and we know that except for losing a tool that tool will work the same in 20 years and that is the real difference between Snap-on and a harbor freight tool. FYI 25+ years bumper to bumper all makes all models ASE cert. Auto Tech. Love the vids C.P.!!! WOOOOO!!!!🎉🎉🎉

I went to HF tonight about 10 minutes before they were closing. I went to the plier isle and they weren't out but the website showed them in stock. I went to the front desk and the helpful guy knew exactly where they were in the back. I used my 25% discount. Mine were stiff. I used a pen oiler and worked them a bit. Much better now. I'm also a 2A guy didn't know this about the owner.

To this day people can’t figure it out about this page. He’s not bashing YOU for using harbor freight. He’s not telling you buy the tool truck brand and spend big money. He’s explaining to you the difference and showing a fact. HF just copies Snap-on to make the average guy think they are getting the same thing. It’s more than a rubber grip or a shape. That’s what he’s trying to show you!

@@CPthetooladdict funny story, we have a outside company installing security cameras on our motor coaches today and it was snap on day. I was on the truck. Young dude come on and stated I’ve never been on a snap on truck and this dude is decked out in Milwaukee coat, carrying his Milwaukee thermos, and stuff. I looked at my dealer and said I got this man. I sold him like 3 things and he saw me this morning. “Man you’re right these needle nose pliers are way better than milwaukees”
      This started yesterday

Sorry for commenting the third time but I also want to point out that I’m a diy home gamer who does everyone in the family’s oil changes and fix things that I deem are easy ish fixes. I don’t rebuild engines or transmissions but I can do a tune up and mod light change sensors swap exhausts change hoses rotate tires etc. anything bigger I tell them to bring it to the shop and I think a shop should have pro tools since they are working day in and day out. And tbh I maybe hit my garage once a month. So icon I feel like is perfect for me. If something breaks I drive to the store and a pro usually can’t I know I can’t when I’m fixing something in my Semi Truck on the road. So again that’s why I buy icon and Pittsburg and Quinn but I also love finding marketplace deals on a great snap on Matco tool! Pro tools are awesome but also out of my price range 😅

  • @WesleyDropDead

I’ve used these every day since I bought them. They work perfect for Porsche Cayenne and Macan oil services where you need to pull the plug to extract the oil from the top. The corner of the pliers grip the plug perfectly to prevent dropping down the engine bay and the pistol grip allows twisting easier if the o rings are dried out and stubborn. So they have been a great tool so far for me. I do hope to see the icon line branch out and make innovative tools. I know it won’t happen because they have the entire snapon and knipex lineup to copy, but with how much money they make off of these tools (since we know they really don’t cost that much to make overseas) they could put it into a development department for tools we haven’t seen before.

I honestly bought them this weekend cuz I like tools and think they're cool. Plus with the 25% off coupon this weekend They were 15 bucks. If I had unlimited funds would I bought the snap on yeah cuz I love American made tools. But I also go by the modo I'd rather have it and not need it then need it, and not have it. I've had that happen to me before and have 1hr projects take 3/4 of the day cuz I had to go to the store and get a tool.

Hello Fellow Toolhaulics, Friends, And Supporters Of CP The Tool Addict Channel: Happy New Year To All. Chad I have those identical Snap On pliers for many years & I love them. Never a problem & they do what I want them to do AS DESIGNED !!!! As of late when I needed something quickly to finish up a job & there was nothing else around I had no choice but to go to Garbage Freight. One tool I purchased didn't last an hour & failed. Brought it back the next day & received a replacement but I wasn't able to finish the job. I have never had a problem with Snap On or any other tool company except Crapsman and SK. I don't care the cost I refuse to do business with people / companies that don't stand behind their products & warranties. I LET MY DOLLARS 💸 DO THE TALKING & THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I CAN'T STAND CRAP !!!!! Good video CP, & my best to Henry. TMP from N.J.

I think Harbor freight is popular on RUclips and other social media because it's something everyone can relate too. Not everyone has easy access to tool trucks but everyone can go to a harbor freight. Unfortunately it's one of the only tool stores in most areas. I wish there were more stores where you could go in and buy quality tools like, Capri, tekton, VIM, etc.

Take these people onto a tool truck and opinions would change fast! You nailed it though. These DIY folks aren’t exposed to the stuff us techs are. They rarely use their tools so of course they are “good enough”. It’s like driving around a ford fiesta when you use to walk to work. You think you are the shiznit… but you’ve also never driven a McLaren….
I own a lot of KOKEN Japan (japans snap on) and most people have zero clue this company exists. But if you are a tool collector and technician you know!

I was at HF the other day looking at their long handled metric wrenches. They had 3 different SKUs on the shelf. 2 from different plants in China and the third from India. You could see and feel the differences. At that point, you become the final inspector for free and either pick one or leave the store.

I have to say Icon is fairly decent, if not, slightly above average than your typical Chinese craftsman. The one thing that bathels me, is the fact that they don't sell tools individually that would be found in sets/kits like wrenches, sockets, etc.
Although Icon makes decent quality tools for the price. For a professional setting, snap on would be ideal for the best quality you can get. Even though it can be really expensive, but, it's worth it for the most part depending on what tool you get from snap on.

I own tools from snap on, harbor freight, Knipex, and Vampliers so for me it’s more or less just nice having different tools and noticing the quality differences between all of them. Not a pro so I don’t know about how much the quality affects my regular uses at home but my icon pairs have never let me down.

Always appreciate a fella who does the actual work giving a sofisticated tool review.
But I have to kind of say that snap on, though they are made right here in the big rock candy mountain, I not always superior quality on every aspect.
Ofter times with tool like the one in the video, the machined edges are left in poor shape.
That being said, I feel as though the video is more critiquing the visuals of the tool and not it's ability to perform the work and stand up to some good hard suffering.
I put some pretty respectable hurtin' on some icon tools, though I think hobo fart is a joke for purchasing tools if your a fella in the field of quality work.
Buy, put some hurting on these tools for comparison for all to see the test of a tool bud!
We want to see what happens when ya let her buck and give the tool a good hot supper before ya say yay or nay to a tool.
Sure do enjoy and appreciate what guys like you do, so keep on feeding the monster that coddles the unemployed, just like the rest of us quality output folks.
Folks out there, subscribe to this guy, he does some good stuff at the end of the day!

Can't say anything regarding Harbor Freight and their tools since i live across the pond, but wanted to say that i support CP for trying to raise consciousness on a hot topic.
All the people yapping about how he should not include political opinions in his videos need to realise that every time they purchase something, they make a political statement by them self concerning where something is made, how a company treats his employees and what ideology the company or their owners pursue.
You guys are literally voting with your wallet and thus should be aware of where your money goes.

  • @Yosho359
    @Yosho359 8 месяцев назад +6

This wouldn’t be a frequently used tool for me as they’re primarily a screw extractor. I struggle to justify $20 let alone the 80-90+ the snappy man would want. Having said that, the Snap-on is 4 to 5 times the price for what is essentially an identical tool. I’ll save the difference and put it towards tools I use more and where the quality differences are more apparent. I wish your review had focused more on any functionality differences.
As for not being made in the USA, I’m fine with Taiwan tools, the same as Japanese, German, British, Austrian, and Swiss. Taiwan is struggling to remain free from China, so I see the tool’s CoO as a positive.

Also yeah! I noticed that some of the first icon pliers had some extra thick hard handles and some other ones I bought had skinny and smooth handles. Hello C.P...I like your channel and the way you describe the way it is in the tool world.....What do you think of the new Harbor Freight Quinn 90 tooth ratchets?.....They look and act just like Gearwrench 90 tooth ratchets, and there are very minor differences, but I have been reading on the web that they are not officially made by Apex for Harbor Freight. The scuttlebutt is that the factory making the Gearwrench ratchets for Apex in Taiwan is making these Quinn ratchets for HF without Apex knowing this, that they basically stole the Gearwrench design and are making this ratchet for HF on the sly.....I find this very hard to believe since Apex is such a huge conglomerate.....Now the other aspect is if Apex is officially making these for HF,why would they undercut their own product by letting HF sell basically the same ratchet for almost a third of the price of a Gearwrench ratchet?...That doesn't make any sense either....If anybody can find out anything on this I think you would be the guy.👍👍👍

    Dear CP:
The few (16 comments) on this video so far are ridiculous!
Doc is awesome 👍 and yes tool guys WILL step on each other, not necessarily on purpose or spite. But I personally like it when you content creators feed off each other....
CP- i get your hard-on with harbor freight. i GET it, but please, just dont respond to the negatives - its like politics- there's so many soy boy/ woke-ass people nowadays hiding behind a mask that it wont get better unless we become patriotic again.
Personally my thought on the harbor freight stuff is simple: 'people' simply LIKE going to harbor Freight (its only 20min from here) (and especially youngins' because they grew up on going to harbor freight. Just like we had sears craftsmans (which btw ALOT craftsman stuff was/is JUNK- but back then at least it was USA mostly)
Harbor freight kinda replaced that shoe AND you can NOT deny they are coming out with "BETTER" quality stuff than the GARBAGE we remember them for 2+ decades ago...
Ive been turning a "professional" wrench now for 13 years. I was the biggest cheapass AGAINST tools b4 that. Its been a love/hate relationship for me for BOTH companies: i yearned/hated BOTH companies similarly a long time ago....harbor freight for the obvious cheap tools that you really didn't WANT to afford but could acquire knowing damn well; once that tractor trailer left if the tool worked ONCE you were lucky!
Snap on: the cowboy Cadillac of the toolworld "THE BEST" but for the opposite approach, you could afford one wrench but the other 11 you needed and would cost you a limb..and you NEED(ed) a dealer
Nowadays harbor freight is MUCH more available to NON- pros AND professionals...
Yes snap on could be available to anyone on the Internet... When you see snap on pliers for $80 ONLINE The problem there in lies price shopping and people then the debate about harbor freight open 7 days a week vs once a week tool truck. not everyone has access to a harbor freight either... It's just market coverage at that point 👉 like you content creators 😊
You know what does grinds my gears? Amazon! That company gets sneakier and sneakier and unless you vuy direct from a seller via Amazon, they aint helping anyone in the business with forcing hands on retail pricing! Its also too easy to buy from amazon, especially with their prime delivery
Shoutout to JDTOOLCO, because im fortunate enough to be withint 45min driving distance of them and OMG they have grown so much in the last few years i wish everyone could see their store! Honestly its like a man-cave with crack 😂 they're online presence does NOT do them Justice! I know they bust their ass but They really need a professional web developer/photographer to create their webstore.
I would send any new and old mechanic to them! Top tech and beginner.
*Im a fanboy - of TOOLS - not affiliated with JDtoolco, amazonz harbor freight nor snap on .. i buy local AND USA when applicable - we cant talk about politics here but until we focus inward on our own USA we will HAVE to turn to foreigners taiwan, china, germany, france, japan, etc *
I wish more people could realize that ANYONE can fight on the Internet. But i bet we'd have a ball of a time together if we could shoot the shit IN PERSON 😊
    Love,
    Long time sub

Happy New Year CP! An excellent review. When I view the new Icon pliers side by side with Snap on they look virtually identical. How does Harbor Freight get away with this? Sears for many years did price comparisons of their Craftsman tools versus Snap on as does Harbor Freight currently. Sears never made blatant copies of Snap on tools as does Harbor Freight. The least they could do is come up with their own design.

So legit question (no sarcasm intended) I don’t agree with the political stance the owner supports but why does only hf only get the hot seat with criticism? By that I mean it’s only how bad they are and they aren’t made in America, but and again I could be wrong but isn’t more then 80% of snap on made over seas as well, cause I feel if you have to announce that certain tools are made in America again from a company that was started in America and then moved over there atleast they began over seas and have always said that, snap on was made here brought up here and have for atleast the last decade (besides their boxes) have been kind of stagnant with coming up with new ideas or pushing themselves for new equipment. So why do we as fellow wrench turners choose snap on and hold them to the holy standard? Because their stuff is made over seas just the same.. they charge for their name and service IF you get a good rep which is getting harder and harder to find. If u want to afford the snap on name then great if u wanna run harbor freight tools great all I care about at the end of the day is we all keep those wrenches turning and keep America running!!! Good night all and I hope we all have a blessed and safe year

    • @donmige81

they get the hot seat because they make identical copies, why not make a unique design and call it their own? why not make copies of other pliers such as sunex or GP? why do they have to copy Americas best tool brand? they do it because they want to ruin Americas best hand tool brand by spreading lies and stealing American ideas and designs. as for snap on making tools over seas, when it comes to hand tools they will be branded as blupoint and the quality is sub par, there are some snap on branded tools that are made overseas but its mostly flash lights and other odd things but most snap on hand tools are made here in the USA.

We went to Lowes the other day & what I found made me 🤑 . The nice Kobalt tools are done & gone & have been replaced w/ knock off chi-com cobalt tools that looked and felt as cheap in hand as the early 90's allied tools do. As far a quantity goes, they had maybe 25% of what they used to have in stock. Hopefully home depot can step it up and capitalize on things with the Husky tool line 🤔 ..
