- There's no crying in baseball, but there are a lot of laughs, when the Savannah Bananas bring their circus antics to the ballpark. The Georgia-based Coastal Plain League team has attracted millions of fans with their TikTok videos, which show batters on stilts or players in kilts. Correspondent Kris Van Cleave checks out the playful play-by-play.

You want to go see them you better order your tickets for next year now I waited a week too late and now it'll be just standing outside waiting for a scalper if there is one this thing lives up Way Beyond that video it is a great experience at that stadium with that team but I don't think you can until January

I’m a “baseball purist”. Love the game and its history. If this guys was trying to change baseball into this, I’d have a problem with that but no reason we can’t have both. I’d love to go to one of these games!
I drove over 4 hours today from Ocala FL down to Port St Lucie to see the Mets. Spent: $110 for 2 tickets, $70 gas and tolls,$15 parking $7 for 1 ice cream, $15 water and soda. It was ok but not worth it. Someone next to me told me about the Bananas. Seeing this , Im going! 🎉😂
The most interesting thing was seeing the fans run to the ballpark.
When you got them doing that, you're doing something right.

Great idea! The Savannah Bananas are the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
They need to have games around the country. I'd be into it.
They started doing that this past year - their premiere league travels mostly southeast part of the country. They did play against a team in Kansas and have mentioned they want to do some west coast eventually in the next few years.
Along with a rival team that could travel with them like the Washington Generals. 3 might in each city when that city's team is on the road.

I don't know how I haven't heard of this wonderful team and that wacky owner! I def will be looking them up. Such a brilliantly insane concept. This is just what America's favorite pastime needs. Wow! ⚾🇺🇸

I went to a Twins vs Yankees game at Target Field last week. It was a 9 inning game that lasted 3:50. We left after seven innings, which took 3 hours to get to.
A two hour game would be great. Forget about extra innings. Soccer matches take less than two hours.
I love classic baseball and am happy for that to stay as it is, but I LOVE the Bananas and Bananaball as its own awesome thing! Keep MLB classy and keep Bananaball crazy! Best of both worlds!! ⚾️🇬🇧

Bill Veeck is cheering the Bananas on from heaven! His ideas irritated baseball purists back in the day, too, but now we have the DH, inter-league games, the playoff system and more. And what better place to try out new ideas than the low minor leagues?

the Bananas were created in 2016 to replace the professional Savannah Sand Gnats, who had moved to Columbia, South Carolina as the Columbia Fireflies. At the time the team was the A-ball affiliate of the New York Mets, but is currently the (low) A squad in Kansas City's system.
I will tell you if you don't order some tickets February you ain't getting none edit: they may be sold out by the end of last season. You gwine gotta go the scalper route to get in, but worth it. They really need to add outfield bleachers.

Savannah Georgia has a very long tradition of great baseball. So when a new team came to town we thought baseball would continue as usual. But than come to find out they would be collage level players. That was ok. Than the day came with the new name for the team. Savannah Bananas????? We thought maybe Savannah Sharks or Savannah Beach. But Savannah Bananas???!!! We thought they lost their minds. Savannah is one of the oldest cities in the Nation and we do not like change. Well it turns out that they put Savannah back on the map. After Forest Gump and the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil wore off. We needed something to put us back on the map. And you are getting to enjoy it!
I've been watching/playing baseball for over 50 years....am I a "purist"? Well, in some sense of that, yes. As a Boston Red Sox fan....I was annoyed when they decided to add advertising to the uniforms. I was also annoyed when the "shift" came into existance. So glad it has kind of gone away.... Anyways, I love what the Savannah Bananas are doing and I hope it spreads like the wildfire it is! I hope to see a game in person this year, but who knows? I haven't missed a game this year, watching on YT. So go Jesse & Bananas!

I was in Savannah just this past weekend on the 5th for the first time! And my SCAD daughter told me about their minor league baseball team!
FYI they are not a minor league team. They were a summer collegiate league. Now they play Savannah Banana Ball year round.

Bill Lee of Red Sox/Expos always talked like a purist, used to denigrate the team mascots, pushed for fundamentals w kids; now Bill is a 76 yr old pitcher for the Bananas= oh maybe he was just made for the Bananas, lots of bs. But we can't always be serious.

I am a baseball purist and major league baseball has turned to crap. This is great for minor league baseball.
