It was more the halfway house thing for her which is perfectly reasonable. She wants a well guy, not a recovering addict. Nothing judgemental about that. A girls got to protect herself. Benefit of the doubt gets you in trouble, listen to the inner voice always.
That was *Girl Code* at its finest. The immediate recognition that a fellow woman is in danger and needs assistance. These men are INSANE and the only people we can trust is each other in these situations.
Every woman knows what the distress signal looks like which is why she switched up so fast and was like...move men...this is an emergency 🚨 we have to stick together so we don’t end up on the news 😔

I am so sorry to hear that you had this horrible experience. It's sad that so many people, especially women, experience these scary and unsafe situations so frequently. I guess I'm glad that you can laugh about it now. But there is absolutely NOTHING funny about someone touching another person without consent. Period. It also sucks that as women, we have to consider a man's temper as a potential threat to our safety. Like you didn't feel safe enough to express your discomfort because of his potential reaction. Thank you! Yes, I completely agree that it's really sad to know that, when I'm in situations like this, I can't just "tell him off," because you never know how a guy may react, and if he might get violent. I'm very lucky to have been raised the way that I was, and to have instincts that help me to know when I need to remove myself from these types of situations, and to find ways to do so quickly and quietly. I'm very grateful to be able to laugh about it, now!
I wish I could like this comment a hundred times. No matter how much the feminist movement has started to tip the scales to be more balanced, in these type of situations we are always going to be vulnerable. We should be able to call out disgusting behaviour like that as soon as it happens (it shouldn't even happen), but we always have to think how it might escalate if we do. If a guy will grope you without consent then where is he going to stop? This is the sad reality of being a woman.

You know, I've heard people complain about story time videos being "fake" (one of the reasons I never wanted to bother doing one). But, I honestly wasn't really sure what they meant, since I don't really watch story time videos. I suppose people who built their channels off of that might have to start getting, ah, *creative* once they start to run out of material.

In the UK, halfway houses are used for people who have just come out of prison (and had nowhere else to go). I wasn't aware that halfway houses were used for ex "addicts" in America 🤔

I once had a run in with a guy I knew but didn't know very well, we just saw each other at gigs & at a local pub & had a lot of mutual friends. I ran into him one time at a pub; I wasn't on a date with him (never dated the guy). He *insisted* that because he had known me for many years that I had to be his girlfriend. I told him that I would not, that it didn't work like that, & it didn't end until a friend of mine held him away from me as he was getting in my face & being really aggressive about it (cause, you know, that's always the way to win someone over :P ). So, this crazy stuff doesn't even just happen with people you've just met! Some people are just nuts (I did find out afterwards that he was shortly hospitalised).

Yea Tinder is definitely a dud dating site. I thought POF was a doozy but Tinder May be worse. I’ve been online dating off and on since 2004. Back in those days, men were actually looking for a wife or a girlfriend. But now, these fools are strictly on there looking for ass and/or arm candy. These dating sites are thee equivalent to grocery stores where they can go shopping for the type of woman they want for the night. I’m over it now. If I do get on an online dating site it’s because I’m looking for some entertainment, something to pass the night away at work or something. Other than that, I simply can’t be bothered to take any of these bums seriously. I spend my nights with my cat Larry, and I’m ok with that 😌

I wanted to share a short horror story of my own with you. I met a guy on bumble and the conversation through the app was great. We conversed all the time and a few days before the first coffee date he tells me how he hasn't been to a coffee shop in two months. I ask "Oh, why is that, not a big coffee drinker?" His response, "That's how long I was in rehab." Me: Blank ass stares.
Fast forward to the coffee date. We meet at a coffee shop near me and are asked to be seated. I order my usual latte and this guy orders a tall glass of you guessed it, water with ice. Like you, the conversation was basically awkward as fuck and non existent. I spent most of the time talking/asking him questions and he spent most of the time fidgeting with the straw in his ice water. Needless to say, this date lasted 45 minutes to long and there sure as hell was not a second one.

This was a great story time, but oh my gosh this whole situation is seriously outrageous. I'm so sorry this happened to you. The fact that it you would have to jump through so many hoops to leave because of that disgusting behavior then to have him still try to contact you "confused" as if it wasn't a clear reason ....sigh...😰😰😰. "I said huh??" You sound a lot like me, you were bored at the time Ti. We tend to indulge even when the red flags are waving profusely, thinking hmmmm, "what can I take away from the psychological nightmare?"
I wouldn't have gone on the date in the first place after finding out he was living in a halfway house. Being "judgmental", or using judgement, is not a bad thing. I just watched a true crime show from Britain where a young woman was in the same circumstances as you except it didn't end well for her. She was on a date with someone she met on a dating app and he proceeded to get drunk. One assumes she felt like she couldn't leave him like that so she helped him back to his hotel where he proceeded to strangle her and have sex with her corpse. Turns out he was mentally ill and had told his psychiatrist that we wanted to experience killing a woman. One wonders did that poor woman have bells go off and she ignored them.
Sad to be reminded, yet again, about how we tend to stay longer than we should in order not to upset a scary guy. And then other guys make it about them to "save" us. I'm glad vocal fry got the picture. That is a better twist than I was expecting.

It's amazing how we don't follow our gut instincts when we should, when alarm bells ring we still give the benefit of the doubt. I doubt many men would do that! I have been on many similar dates, I've had grown arsed men arriving on skate boards eg. peter pan complex; man who lived with their sister and had 5 kids - he was a high court judge as well. I went to the toilet and never came back; a man who proceeded to tell that he knew exactly what type of woman I was, blah, blah, blah. all of it wrong and insulting; men who were go so drunk, I had to hold them up. A man who told me to stop "acting" like a man, because I didn't want to go back to his place. Ahh jeez, the list is endless. If I was ever single again, I think I would stay that way, and just enjoy MY LIFE!!

My worst date ever was a blind date at a bbq. He drank a case of beer BEFORE saying hello. Then I found out I had to take home. He passed out before we got to his house and i couldn't get him awake. I had to drag home out of my care. There was a locked gate at the end of the driveway, so i left him passed out at the end of his driveway.
