I love seeing videos like this where people actually have "equipment" for their birds. Even if they're inside the cage. Not just a l'il cage with a perch. I know we all can't afford the good stuff, but something is better than nothing. Never had a bird. But every animal needs things like this for exercise and to entertain them. It's all about physical health and mental health.
I love Rocky's videos. Please keep them coming & more frequently! He has such an awesome personality. My cockatiel is very much the same, silly goof ball. Likes to explore, curious about everything, great whistler but no songs. Mine doesn't like to be off of me or too far away from me though which can be a little tiresome. He was a rescue from the SPCA and I think he was neglected with previous person. Both of my parrots are out all day, cages opened in the a.m. for breakfast veggies & fruit buffet. They can go in & out of their cages as they want, then bedtime around 10pm. Both of my parrots like to listen to Rocky sing, so keep them coming!
I saw that you have your Rocky still. I should upload a video of my Rocky to my youtube. LOL He's comfortable in the bottom of his cage though.I know that isn't a good sign but he doesn't seem uncomfortable or sick.
My bird is not this friendly. It has been over 4 years and he still won't let us pet him. I leave the cage open and give him treats. I don't force him to sit on my finger, but he won't willingly. He was given to us, because he just doesn't like ppl. He still will whistle constantly, but that's it.
There are as many different personalities as there are cockatiels. the males arent generally as affectionate as the females to start with but some of these guys would just prefer to be left alone. All you can really do is just let him come to you when he`s ready and reinforce his behavior with his favorite treat. Don`t try to restrain him or get rough with him at all....that`ll just make him more reluctant to be handled. I have a 4yr old hen that is standoffish, she was really bad when I first got her but, over time, she has started to come for a headrubs and she likes to play with my glasses as I read. No matter what I do though, she won`t always let me touch her. My other 2 females are really sweet and I can pick them up anytime...they`ll fly up on me if I don`t anyway! lol. They are individuals just like you and I and some just don`t want to be messed with.
I've had him for 4 years. He had a female bird, but I found her a good home. So I'm trying to give him time on his own. He's scared of everything since she left.

Because saying it like that would seem like any personality would do, but you would very much prefer if your bird had the same kind like Rocky instead. And I think that's very mean as it sounds like the bird would be more loved by you without its own unique and the best personality it could have. But maybe I've misunderstood you and you actually mean it in the same way as when somebody says "I wish my bird could say this and that"? I do apologise for acting like a jerk, it's just that if one would love its bird more if it had another personality than its own then I think it would only do the bird justice to be placed at a new home where it might be loved equally as much regardless of its personality. Birds and any other animal deserves 110% love and nothing should ever be able to change that.

He is so cute! My bird is turning 19 this year, and still have so much energy for the whole day.. I wonder where he gets this energy from :)
