- Information... information... information: Basically this is a part of a longer video I've got planned for next month or April and I decided to edit this complicated bit early because I had a little bit of time. So Enjoy the demo!
The Prisoner is a 60s show about a secret agent trying to escape a surreal prison over and over again. I trust you can guess why I chose the music.
"First rule of interrogation - you are the only irreplaceable person in the torture chamber."
Hi Linkara.
Now I want a Prisoner reboot starring Peter Capaldi!
In the US where I grew up, they would show episodes on the Sci-Fi channel late at night in the summer, with an IRC thing where people would type comments and they’d appear in real-time at the bottom of the screen. People went nuts when Number 6 and Number 2 played that weird game with the trampoline.
I keep coming back to listen to this. So well edited it has me really caring about a show I've never watched, and for The Master
:) You should check it out sometime, it's fantastic.
I loved the show. I saw it by purchasing it on VHS in the late 80's some time. However, of possible interest, I found out about the show having seen and purchased The Prisoner GURPS supplement at a hobby store. A beautifully done book, and as informed on the source material and well written as GURPS materials back in the day.
Wasn't sure at first but the editing beautifully matching the music score won me over. really nice work.
"Who is Number One?"
"You are Number Six."
or
"You are, Number Six."
Oh man this is a nostalgia trip, loved "the prisoner " when i was younger, had it on VHS's ,but haven't watched it for like 15+ years xD
I had heard of The Prisoner before, but never considered that it would something I would enjoy. This video has changed that. Kudos!
It's fantastic. Thanks!
@@DiamandaHagan My pleasure!
A very trippy show.
I only watched this show because its my favorite Iron Maiden song. I chose well because this was a trip.
I had a childhood memory of that ball chasing after a guy. I thought for the longest time it was from a Bond movie
Show of hands, who here first heard of this show by way of an episode of Reboot that referenced it?
Oh no! Attacked by a giant balloon! Too bad we weren't all issued something sharp when we showed up on this island!
All kidding aside, this was a cool show.
Now I want to rewatch this show, maybe preceded by a few Dangerman episodes…
Genius show, brilliant video
I only watched this show for the first time last year. It became an instant favorite.
(God, I wish it would be re-printed; I'd love to own it physically)
This video is amazing and it's really making me want to watch The Prisoner now.
You should, it's a great time!
Did you see the Headcanon Fodder video too? It might give you more/ less reason to watch it lol.
@@DiamandaHagan I did watch that video, which was also amazing!
@@katherineperrin4817 Glad you enjoyed it! And if you watch the Prisoner, I hope you enjoy it as much.
Fanttastic!
Visited Portmeiron before I'd seen The Prisoner and looking forward to see it again with totally different eyes!
Beautiful
When i grew up in the 80's i heard so much about this show, it almost had a mystic surrounding it , I still want to watch it though, and i can't imagine a world where a potential reboot has the same feel and following cult.
They did try a remake.
..."not good" is putting it mildly
@@sirjedisentinel i heard rumor, but knowing how remake of old show often fail and fall flat ^^ i m not surprised.
@@jeffmaesar well for one thing, the remake stars Jim Caveizel as Number 6. So that didn't age well.
The other thing is, The Prisoner us a show heavy in symbolism & allegory. Everything that happens is irrelevant because of what the events mean.
The remake tries to take it literally
@@sirjedisentinel not to mention it was during the cold war.
Really does make me wish that McGoohan had been a Doctor. Maybe instead of Davison? Not because I don’t like 5, but like timeline-wise.
Honestly I think McGoohan is the best Master we never had and Leo McKern (especially in his number 2 mode) would have been a fantastic Doctor.
@@DiamandaHagan McGoohan as a Master would also be excellent, I hadn’t even considered that! When I first watched Chimes of Big Ben and saw McKern as Number 2, it honestly gave me a vague feeling of what Brian Blessed and Tom Baker’s Tuvix Doctor would’ve been like and I adored it.
This is fantastic
