@adamjew36: The reason Isai gets so much horizontal distance on Kirby's forward throw is that they are playing the Japanese version. The Japanese version changes a number of things around, one of which is the horizontal distance of the trajectory of the opponent flying off of Kirby's forward throw.
True, a match heavily comes down to the skill of the player, but a good playstyle can benefit the controller greatly. Pikachu's Uair is dam good, however it has to come from the right angle and with good timing.
@SlamTheLabel actually there are maybe two scenarios where not z-cancelling is objectively better than doing so it is definitely a necessity for playing at a high level
It seems like everybody who believes that tiers don't exist uses one match or player to support their argument. Having tiers doesn't mean that whichever character is ranked higher will ALWAYS win. Its mostly player. However, when we see certain characters GENERALLY and CONSISTENTLY winning, that is solid evidence that they are better.
@FishamanP oh true haha, and hey I just noticed at the end the grab throws Pikachu in a 45 degree angle, Kirby grab doesn't work like that in the USA version
I think the problem was Taru was trying to fight him in the air, which is understandable, this is where pikachu's combos lie. however Kirby just has too greater priority in him fair and dair moves, taru rarely had a chance to combo. (Mind you he DID get in good combos). However trying to fight on the ground would be a better approach.
I feel that tiers exist. Certain characters have the edge over others. I find this mostly true when fighting on certain maps. That being said I do believe that you can defeat any player with any character depending on the circumstances (level, item set). The player makes the character. Isai is clearly well versed in smash. I'd love to have a go at him.
pikachu short hop into forward air finished before reaching ground has no lag. which means... It Can't be punished. its not cheap but it makes pikachu deadly.
@blacksideknight3 sometimes people purposely miss the cancel on d-air with jiggs because the lag is negligible anyway and it pops them up for a slightly easier follow-up with u-tilt/whatever kirby and pika f-airs have some low-angle knockback if they are not cancelled which can be used to knock off and edgeguard heavier characters if they won't die off the top/a throw sends them too high ness u-air/d-air and pika u-air don't need to be cancelled at all, though this is more a null point
kirby be very deadly only prob is his chin he cant take much same shit wit link and also jumping otherwise he b the best.fox n pikachu=same as kirby, but its not an issue wen u kno how to use them
3:40 That up-tilt range...

Pretty cool. I haven't played this game in ages.
holy jebus kirby's fsmash was fuckin brutal in SSB64. kirby was a complete tool set: drills, spikes, and pumps oh my.

creative use of the foward aerial, nice match
@BlahBlahBlah27000 Oh I might have seen it. Is that the one where its Isai- samus against Pika?
No, the problem was that he was facing Isai.
@cheeseball341 what would be the scenarios where not z-cancelling is better than cancelling?
You gotta feel for the Pikachu...after all, he is facing the most overpowered character in this game: Isai.
Never seen Isai Kirby before, that's cool.
Awesome DI at 3:05
@SlamTheLabel actually there are maybe two scenarios where not z-cancelling is objectively better than doing so

KIRBY..the super tough blue puff.

But hardly anyone can use that cheapness to its potential. There are very few people in the world who can consistently pull off the drill shine.
2:32................wow
@FishamanP oh true haha, and hey I just noticed at the end the grab throws Pikachu in a 45 degree angle, Kirby grab doesn't work like that in the USA version
@SlamTheLabel im not sure what you're saying
every good player will attempt to Z-cancel, always (with a couple obscure exceptions, as i mentioned)
@cheeseball341 oh i see. those are some technical strategies right there.
I think the problem was Taru was trying to fight him in the air, which is understandable, this is where pikachu's combos lie. however Kirby just has too greater priority in him fair and dair moves, taru rarely had a chance to combo. inchesfromdead x
nice combo at ~3:40
@TrollingSince1991 Yes he did! You know, at 2:36 was the end of an 86%... although it was a kamikaze that failed to KO Pikachu...
Why is it that when Kirby does the forward grab on Pikachu, Pikachu goes flying to the side instead of up???
I know isai is rediculous, but is there anyone who is equally good? I wanna see more awesome matches and I've been straight through isais uploads.
pikachu short hop into forward air finished before reaching ground has no lag. which means... It Can't be punished. its not cheap but it makes pikachu deadly.
2:50 I call bullshit on that up-tilt.
@3horatii Not DI...just American-Japanese difference
How does Isai get Kirby's forward throw to get so much horizontal distance on it??
Kirby..... vs RAT, RAT IS THE MOST OP CHARACTER IN SMASH 64!
considering he was fighting isai, that was pretty good
I lol'd at 3:09. Would have been a hilarious kill if that had connected.
3.06 try rock cancell?
@TheSantaYT You are vulnerable at either the beginning or the end of the roll, depending on the direction of the roll. It's easy to punish.
I wonder how well i would fail if i fought Isai. Come on Captain Falcon vs Somebody Else!
What am I doing here
como cambio el sonido de los golpes? ayuden hace tiempo que no encuentro nada como cambiarlo D:
se agradeceria enrme si alguien sabe
@NuMetalBeDamned Yeah but I've watched their whole character battle and isai is still consistently better, anyone else closer?
good game
Isai vs Tokyo
@BlahBlahBlah27000 Nah, I've only watched Isai, and every single match of his.
I could check them out, a good match?
intersting sound effects on the japanese version..
@blacksideknight3 sometimes people purposely miss the cancel on d-air with jiggs because the lag is negligible anyway and it pops them up for a slightly easier follow-up with u-tilt/whatever
kirby and pika f-airs have some low-angle knockback if they are not cancelled which can be used to knock off and edgeguard heavier characters if they won't die off the top/a throw sends them too high
ness u-air/d-air and pika u-air don't need to be cancelled at all, though this is more a null point
good does not equal cheap.
3:43 sick stuff
...after watching Isai's Kirby matches I started using him more x)
wow Japanese version grab finished the game.
I want a copy of a Japanese version of SSB64
ok i want to play ssb64 NOW.....
@Tethros Only Pikachu and Fox are top tiers... Kirby is in 3rd place in the ranking , but its a high tier not top
@gronk24 SuperBoomFan is a pretty close contender to Isai.
@LaRiviera That ain't snake!

What the... 1:40 Matrix?

@jumppack1 hit z just before you land
kirby be very deadly only prob is his chin he cant take much same shit wit link and also jumping otherwise he b the best.fox n pikachu=same as kirby, but its not an issue wen u kno how to use them
