@Connor Lonergan It did know Jeremy won a plane ride so maybe it does spy on them though I did read a theory that Xana is too single minded and doesn't always do plans in the most optimal way.
@ConnorLonerganmaybe. One episode implies that Xana has attacked multiple times in one week. That was the English dub, maybe in French he says something different.
i think it's really cool how they never think about using "return to the past" to cheat on tests or bully people or win the lottery except for this episode where ulrich did it for yumi (which is not necessarily being selfish because it's for someone else), and all they say is that the "return to the past" makes XANA stronger, not that it's morally bad to use for the lottery, like they know that he would never do that under different circumstances. it just shows what good people they are
Well, they only activate the Return trip when it is necessary and just take advantage of it. The reason it is deemed as "wrong" in this episode is because A. They recently learned that it does make XANA a lot stronger. B. It was used for a purpose that was not entirely needed since as they said at least twice, "there may not be anything to worry about".
It doesn't actually turn back time, it just wipes people's memories and puts them back where they were. Meaning that, unless the bubble encompasses the entire world, they are increasingly out of sync with the world every time they use it. If there's stock market near them, it's probably crashed hard. And it can't revive the dead. Someone can die, they can return to the past, and to everyone else it would be like someone just turned into a corpse right in front of their eyes.

So Ulrich made XANA slightly stronger, but at least he was TRYING to keep Yumi from moving back to Japan. I don't like this episode either. Maybe a friendly warning would have been fine...
@@reesecates8620 Well they made a pact that they said to not really use it, it could make xana stronger and that's bad, it was never final that Yumi was leaving (in fact it resolved itself once they fixed everything) plus its a huge morality breaker cause he pretty much stole someone's lottery money that they won fair and square and to top it off, he didn't tell anyone about it. He broke their trust and I believed their frustration. That's why at the end they were all cool again. I thought it was handled well and both sides were right and wrong in situation
To his credit, maybe that is why he was so outraged. Because Ulrich saw what happens when the Return to the Past is used... and yet he STILL appealed to it for a comparatively petty reason.

@@digitaltailsmon4096 Well, you're not wrong, but that's just it. No matter how noble or heroic they are, at the end of the day, they're still just kids. And most kids aren't exactly known for their rational and mature thinking (though, if we're being totally honest here, most adults I know aren't really much better in those regards). The fact that they were ready to severe all ties with him over that until he saved them proves it. Yeah, on one hand, Ulrich was wrong for doing it behind their backs, but they all (should) have known him long enough by now to know he's not the kind of friend who would dick them over out of malice. But they didn't. I like Jeremie. He's a genius and excellent computer specialist, but honestly? He's so smart, he can actually be pretty stupid at times. Because what if he got what he asked for this episode? What if things didn't turn out for the better? What if Ulrich had stayed away from the group for good (or had gotten killed in this ep)? What if Yumi's dad didn't find a new job, and he and his family (Yumi included) had to return to Japan? Then what? The group would've literally been down two members, leaving Aelita and Odd to face Xana and Lyoko by themselves for the rest of the series. They're good kids (Odd is debatable though). They're just not very good at looking at the long term consequences of their choices at times.
Ngl Ulrich and Odd are the only characters I can bear with (I wouldve said Aelita but she can also frustrate me)... idk I feel like Yumi’s WAY too selfish and prideful and I get Ulrich has jealousy problems but I’d prefer that way more than Yumi constantly getting upset and all

I think this show has the all the LW overact to extreme levels, I think Odd usually is handled the best on not going way out of line, Yumi. Ulrich, and Jeremy seem to go WAY out of line every time. Their willing to kick each other out minus Jeremy for almost anything. I really wish more episodes like this would happen with Aelita though. Her getting caught and being on Lyoko is better for the story. I HATE that she is the one that always want to go ALONE BY HERSELF 80 percent of the time. Most the show she is defenseless lol, also can die too, also the bad guy wants her memory, yet she runs most the time, in the world ALONE behind her friends back. I was like if that was me in that world with her, sorry I am shutting that computer down and destroying it. I really think Aelita on many episodes would have got the Entire world destroyed, just over a dream. She get's her dad almost killed 3 times and yet does it again. I really think they made her almost suicidal in my view. I think the episodes where she is CAUGHT makes the most sense, yet barely happens. Her volunteering alone, is just stupid as Odd said it on that one episode.

They’re their own AI because Odd was about to fall into the digital sea and one crab shot him as he fell, devirtualizing him before he would be lost forever. If that was X.A.N.A., he would have definitely let Odd fall and be lost forever but he most likely couldn’t get the message to his bot in time to let Odd fall. With the Scyphozoa, it was such a long time for X.A.N.A. to get the message to the Scyphozoa to let Aelita go because Odd was about to kill her. Sometimes I wish Sissy was a lyoko warrior Imagine Sissy on lyoko with the most pick me dress ever, using powers similar to Honey Lemon's bag from Big Hero 6, but simpler. Like she can use the colors of the rainbow : Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Purple. Each with their own specific abilities and buff/debuffs.
7:15 to 8:07 Probably the most difficult scene to watch from the show. I really felt it from Ulrich. He had really good intentions with what he was doing but looked over the fact that he put everyone in a much higher sense of danger with what he did. Just watching the entire group scold him, in which they were in the right to do, really was difficult to watch. Plus, having your friends abandon you like that is almost heartbreaking. You can see it in his face when he was with Sissy, that Ulrich was under severe depression, especially after he said "I don't have friends anymore.".
The rest of the group overlooked that Jeremy have broken the rules before and after this episode, but nobody scolds Jeremy for it. Like when Jeremy brought Taelia to the factory or when Jeremy return to the past multiple times on one episode.
@@ATP2555ify Exactly. That's how he gained the ability to possess people in the first place. The whole point of activating that tower and triggering the return to the past was to get himself more powerful.
Yea, they're already risking their lives, pretty much to save Aelita. If they wanted to save the world, they could have just shut it down. This entire operation is pretty much for Aelita. But I digress; Ulrich's action was throwing that all into a slightly more amount of jeopardy. I believe that they said that every return to the past causes twice the power for Xana. However, in practical terms, it doesn't seem to lead to twice the amount of literal, fighting power. Not exactly sure how that works.

Don’t forget, when Odd used showed that random blonde polish transfer student the lab to IMPRESS her. I’m pretty sure it was a couple of episodes after this but Odd got a slap on the wrist not kicked out. The group looks like a bunch of hypocrites ngl
There's so many faces that can be memed. The discussion between Odd and Aeltia before she acts as a diversion in New Order (especially with Jeremy's reaction) could be memed pretty hard. Edit: 19:03 is right up there. Dramatic entrance into bruh face is pretty good.
It really does suck how Ulrich was treated for using ONE Return to the past just to prevent Yumi from having to move, yet a couple episodes later in Temptation; Jeremy starts abusing MULTIPLE Return trips on a piece of junk that only ruined his health! Man, he can be such a hypocrite at times.
I see a lot of people saying that this is one of the worst episodes because of how Ulrich was treated, but what people don't seem to understand is that just because you have good intentions doesn't mean that your actions are automatically justified. Also, think about this for a second. Ulrich went out of his way to keep his actions a secret from his friends. He deliberately told Yumi's parents not to tell her. Clearly he knows that, on some level, there's something wrong with the way he's going about things. Not allowing his friends to have a say in the matter takes away their choice to say yes or no. Generally speaking, people don't like when you take their choices away from them, even if it was something they would have said yes to if they had been asked. Also, let's not forget that this is a consistent pattern of behavior for Ulrich, especially in Season 2. He consistently wants to have a say in what Yumi does or wants to know what she's up to. Jeremy did the same for Aelita until he finally learned not to do that in Season 4, and if I criticized him for that, I gotta keep that same energy with Ulrich.
None of what you said justifies how badly the group overreacts to Ulrich helping Yumi. They went back to the past a thousand times but conveniently the same episode the writers have everyone snap on Ulrich and kick him to the curb is the same episode they have a never before seen dynasty warriors mob of enemies to justify Ulrich's treatment. It's too blatantly inconsistent, exaggerated and stupid after watching the whole series up to this point. The group can be mad about Ulrich not telling them about his plan but showing no understanding and immediately kicking their best fighter and friend out of the group is too extreme no matter how you twist it. There's no misunderstanding something so obvious, this is easily one of the worst episodes.
@@chronis2491 "They went back to the past a thousand times" This was BEFORE they knew that going back in time made Xana stronger, and once that fact was made apparent, they did return trips less and less often, especially in seasons 3 and 4. And this wouldn't be the last time Ulrich made a rash decision because of his affection for Yumi, so this episode pretty much establishes a pattern of behavior for him.
@@SketchytheChangeling Them not knowing before doesn't change the fact they spammed the hell out of it and made Xana a lot stronger, and a few episodes later Jeremie does worse apparently. Ulrich did it ONE time to help one of the group and all his friends snap and turn on him easily as if he had done a much worse crime. Aelita not too many episodes ago made a rash decision to protect Yumi too, because that's what friends do. Ulrich's romantic feelings for Yumi only make him more inclined to do what he can to help her even if it's not rational or according to the rules. Nothing you say can justify how badly written this was because the reaction from the group was just too extreme and Yumi at least should have been less harsh since he did it for her and she's been shown to reciprocate his feelings.
Ulrich did the most generous thing could do for Yumi, and the group just called him out like he's a traitor to them. Heck, XANA sure can send an army on the double.
Taking out Ulrich is pretty much like not having chocolate at all. Chocolate compliments a lot. And it works well with other sweets. Idk why i made that comparison LOL
Jeremy was a prick in this episode. Everyday he has put the world (the group) in danger to be with Aileta but Ulrich does one thing for Yumi and Jeremy wants to kick him out of the group.
Are we not going to talk about the main characters getting mad at Ulrich EVEN THOUGH Jeremy did the same thing for over a YEAR for Aelieta putting the world in danger in the process???

I do kinda hate the episode for the group being rather unfair towards Ulrich. He did it to help Yumi, why get THAT mad about it? Yes, he should have checked with them first. But, again, he did it FOR HER. But, I absolutely LOVE how far he was willing to go for her. I mean, he literally tried writing the president? Aww. Yumi, you are NOT going to find another guy who loves you as much as THIS ONE does.
Funny you should say that, because I've always had this weird fanfiction idea in my head where this episode was split into 2 parts and that's exactly what Xana would do to Ulrich. Basically, the second part of the episode would have exactly the same plot as the CL Evolution episode "The Codeless", but Ulrich is of course the one who's being manipulated by Xana and not William, and with a much darker twist.
@@infinitypercival5958 For me, my idea is that the group was angry but they still understand Ulrich, most importantly Jeremy and Yumi understands him. Ulrich felt not only relived that Yumi might not have to move, but he felt guilty about using the return to the past program that he left the group on his own, he feels selfish until Jeremy consuls him via phone that he admits he would have done the same thing if he and Aelita were in Ulrich and Yumi’s shoes, and he done what he thought was right.
I wrote the first chapter of my AU Code Lyoko fic which is called The Lyoko Fighters. In this story, Ulrich meets and joins a group of five high school students who know Lyoko and XANA too.
I like how Ulrich gets kicked out of the group. It's true that using the Return to the Past program increases XANA's power, but Ulrich was only trying to help Yumi and her family. Why couldn't she understand that? I don't think he deserved to be treated so harshly.
For once Ulrich used time travel for something actually AWESOME and everybody hates him for that. Worst of all, he wasted all the money on cheeeerity. Goddamnit!
Too many people trying make Ulrich seem bad for his actions since he did it because of Yumi but I feel Ulrich would have done it for all them if Odd or Jeremy were getting took out of Kadic. Ulrich didn't inform them yet Jeremy never informed them why he kept doing the RTTP in that other episode which made XANA WAY stronger than Ulrich doing it once. Ulrich knew the risk of doing it and even stated that he shouldn't do it so don't make it seem like he just did without an feeling. Ulrich look at it like the one his likes/his teammate is leaving making it one less warrior against XANA. Yumi got mad but girl don't you love him ? If someone loves me and they do that I'd at least be I don't know GRATEFUL!
They've got such high moral standards wow. They have actual rules for "return to the past" and the Lotto ticket ends up helping a charity organization.
I really feel bad for Ulrich in this episode, 1st he helps Yumi's parents by buying them a lottery ticket and they laugh in his face, 2nd they know they has won and immediately tells Yumi after he told them not to and return the winning ticket to him, 3rd he gets berated by his friends for using the rttp trying to help a friend when they has been using it multiple times to save a virtual girl (at the time). Moral of the story: Never try to help somebody who doesn't want to be helped.
Because I love to make you blush has to be the best line of this episode (please like the odd is your favorite character because he is my favorite character)
I love the moral confilt in this episode. I see both sides going back doubles XANA's power if I remember right, but the power of losing not only a valued comrad and person you love. If I was in Ulrich's shoes I don't know what i'd do.

@@infinitypercival5958 i think the logic was he was strengthening xana which could have further endangered lives that the return to the past couldn't fix
So Ulrich made XANA slightly stronger, but at least he was TRYING to keep Yumi from moving back to Japan. I don't like this episode either. Maybe a friendly warning would have been fine...
@@reesecates8620 yeah, i get their concern but cutting him off INMEDIATELY and even Yumi being mad is excessive

Guillermo Maguina 😂😂😂🧐 amen
That was pretty stupid and jerky Jeremy. Everyone should at least forgive Ulrich but whatever.
Jeremy has no place to talk. He puts the world in danger by not shutting off the super computer because he wants to be around his digital waifu.
To his credit, maybe that is why he was so outraged. Because Ulrich saw what happens when the Return to the Past is used... and yet he STILL appealed to it for a comparatively petty reason.
I mean, in this episode, Jeremy had a pretty rough time...
@A true blue gamer Since they found out about it there literally pretty much stopped using the return to the past. Sometimes it's crucial to do it
Jeremy Could get different girls If he was less of a Dick and a Hypocrite...Damn Jeremy needs some help HE DOESN'T NEED THAT DIGITAL...STUFF HE NEEDS THAT REAL STUFF
P.S not gonna lie but Aelita's Physical body is Nice *Nudge Nudge *
They think Ulrich is selfish for helping yumi be in the group?
What about Jeremy? He put the ol world in danger to be with his crush too.
Wtf guys
Yeah, it's hypocrisy alright. But as the others stated above, Ulrich really should've ran the idea by the others first.
Yes because saving a girl from being trapped in a computer all her life is worst than saving a girl from being sent back to another country. Im not gonna say Jermey is a saint but two wrongs don't make a right
@@digitaltailsmon4096 Well, you're not wrong, but that's just it.
He was just trying to help his friends
Ngl Ulrich and Odd are the only characters I can bear with (I wouldve said Aelita but she can also frustrate me)... idk I feel like Yumi’s WAY too selfish and prideful and I get Ulrich has jealousy problems but I’d prefer that way more than Yumi constantly getting upset and all
Why do they always ask to go to the infirmary? Wouldn't the teacher's be suspicious of them going so often?
They return to the past so often that the five of them collectively have probably done it less than ten times in one year.
I got an theory yumi has known stomach problems
I mean, the teacher can’t say that they aren’t sick, so the teacher would have to let them go
With the return to the past trips, their trips to the infirmary are repeatedly forgotten

He's a total hypocrite in this episode 😠
Couldnt have put it better myself
Going back to this show all these years later its honestly crazy how much of yumis parents struggling marriage and financial situation we get to see.

Ulrich is one of the Strongest members of the group Because he is Focused and Most of his Abilities Make him faster or Harder to Track
Yumi should be Grateful that Ulrich wants that and he cares Because ULRICH GOT OPTIONS
Yes they are idiots.
Me: "Why didn't they just fly over the crabs to the tower?"
Me to me: "Because the episode would end too early."
Probably because stuff like 12:54 would happen lol
Why couldn't they just drop Aelita off behind the crabs and the tower so she can deactivate the tower WHILE the fight is going on?
@@reesecates8620: because it’s too dangerous. Remember that if Aelita gets devirtualized, she’s gone forever. Now you may think “oh X.A.N.A. wouldn’t risk shooting at Aelita because he needs her.” We’ve seen prior that his monsters aren’t just extensions of him. With the crabs in these episodes, it’s most likely that they would actually kill Aelita before X.A.N.A. has a say in having her be unharmed. It could even be that all of X.A.N.A.’s monsters are mindless except for the Scyphozoa.
Bottom line: nobody wants to risk Aelita’s life just to save a few minutes in getting her to a tower.

Probably the most difficult scene to watch from the show.

I believe that they said that every return to the past causes twice the power for Xana. However, in practical terms, it doesn't seem to lead to twice the amount of literal, fighting power. Not exactly sure how that works.

What is with this show and Spider Man not that I'm complaining
I mean the Tobey Maguire movies were the most popular films at the time.
Most likely.
I agree. I don’t believe that they should’ve kicked him out but i agree with everything u said
None of what you said justifies how badly the group overreacts to Ulrich helping Yumi.
@@chronis2491 "They went back to the past a thousand times"
This was BEFORE they knew that going back in time made Xana stronger, and once that fact was made apparent, they did return trips less and less often, especially in seasons 3 and 4.

This episode implies Ulrich knows how to use the super computer.
Aelita's face at 7:12 is pure gold
11:32 Lmao why did Jeremy just sat there and watch him jump down?
Jeeeeeeezzzzzzuuuuzzzzzzzzzz Ulrich is showing dedication to keep Yumi there.
Are we not going to talk about the main characters getting mad at Ulrich EVEN THOUGH Jeremy did the same thing for over a YEAR for Aelieta putting the world in danger in the process???
13:18 "we're going to have to get to cover"
*The slowest walk of all time*
*I love yumi's parents arguing it isn't some random thing blown out of proportion and it isnt a tiny arguement that gets resolved by the end it's the small arguements and disturbances that hugely build up over time from my memory they don't get divorced I wish they would've and it could've been handled as seriously and somewhat healthily and not too big*
After his friends kicked him out for unselfish reasons I’m surprised Xana didn’t try to convince Ulrich to join him to turn against his friends.
@@infinitypercival5958 I agree!
Wow Ulrich straight up slapped Jeremy to wake him up and Jeremy didn’t even question it.
"What about you? Did YOU go to the temp agency today?"
Ofc she didn't, it's much too difficult for a housewife to work.
Damn, these kids ask to go to the infirmary to get out of school more than they're actually there lol
It’s thanks to this show that I learned the word infirmary because boy do they say it a lot 😅
For once Ulrich used time travel for something actually AWESOME and everybody hates him for that. Worst of all, he wasted all the money on cheeeerity. Goddamnit!
I know right? That is uber lame!
I Just thought Aelita can never be kicked out the group she is the smartest one who can go to lyoko and she is the only one who can deactivate towers
14:35 ain't nobody fresher than my squad!
Did Herb REALLY think he was gonna beat Nikolas in a fight?
Man I was about to cry, they cut him down so bad, I started to hate Yumi's family, they should keep the secret
Odd and Aelita: “let’s get out of here and take cover”
also Odd and Aelita: literally walking away instead of running
Okay, Ulrich, I don't know where you grew a pair of balls but DAMN. That is insane.
16:24 not jeremy being so casual about it 😭
They've got such high moral standards wow.
Yeah. If you see someone choking, Don't help them. don't interfere with someone else's personal struggles!
Let em Choke!
Because I love to make you blush has to be the best line of this episode
(please like the odd is your favorite character because he is my favorite character)
I love the moral confilt in this episode. I see both sides going back doubles XANA's power if I remember right, but the power of losing not only a valued comrad and person you love. If I was in Ulrich's shoes I don't know what i'd do.
4:23 lol they forgot to color the bottom of odd's shirt. nice crop top odd
Thank you I honestly see this mistake a lot and no one seems to point that out until now!
Probably don't point it out too often because this show practically had no budget to make this
What why are they being jerks to Ulrich??
TVnGames Brandon
IKR when I watched that episode I was so mad
He did it multiple times -_-
TVnGames Brandon Please... please don’t say ‘time reversion’... that term is heavily overused and annoying as hell on CL Wiki.
Infinity Percival
What else is there to call it? "You know"? "Return to the past now"? "Schmidt"?
Yumi spinning at 12.55 made me laugh way too much xDDDDD
