This is my whole world colliding right now, absolutely perfect presentation and delivery as well. Man. Edit: holy crap. This is like one of the 5 times I’ve ever gotten physical tingle things from a video, something about the way you used the q tip just gave my brain a massage. Crazy Thank you for putting so much time into this, to me it definitely paid off. Already sent this around my large format / photog circles.
Hey Jake, I'm getting into 4x5 after years with the pentax 6x7. Does the busch pressman 4x5 model D have the ability to just view from glass on the back? All I can find are options for rangefinders on the top and side. I like the ability to fold this up and travel, but I'd like that traditional large format glass view on the back.
Hi, yes you can view from the glass on the back to frame and focus, then slide the film cartridge in to shoot the photo. When I show kids how it the camera works, I’ve gotten questions on how do you transfer the photo to your computer. 😄 Since to them it looks like a digital camera screen.
I was lucky to find this camera intact and operational, that leather case is what it came in. I'm part of a 40's gangster group. Well, I'm to old to be the gangster so I go as the newspaper photographer after they do their stuff. LOL Yeah, I caught flack about the modern light switch years ago so I swapped it out for the pushbutton one.
Jake, nice video. I think the nameplate on the front standard is supposed to be visible when the lens board is attached. Try removing the lens board and rotating is 90 deg. counter clockwise and see if it still fits onto the front standard. If it does, then the camera's nameplate should now be visible. I'm curious. Give it a try and let me know. Keep the videos coming! Steve
Hi, you're talking about the camera's nameplate on the lensboard? Yes its there but the flash solenoid is covering it as it should. If I didn't have the flash then there would be a need for the solenoid to fire the flash. Then the nameplate would be visible. Make sense?
@@JakeHellbach Yes. What I was trying to say, is remove the lens (and the lens board), rotate it 90 deg to the left and see if it fits back onto the standard. If it does, then the name plate on the front standard would no long be blocked by the solenoid. See if that works. Let me know, I'm curious! Have a great day! Love the videos!
The lens board only fits in as it is and can't be rotated. There is a mounting hole at the top which is how its fastened to the camera body. Maybe the solenoid could be moved but at the end of the day, this is how it would have been mounted originally and the name plate isn't that much of an important feature.
LOL, no the candlestick phone is actually a repro made in the 70's I think. I swapped the modern wiring for the cotton covered braided wire so it was more vintage looking. But I did add a blue tooth receiver to that old radio in the background. I couldn't restore it so I added the Bluetooth so I can play old radio shows on it. :)
Yes, basically you gut the inside of the radio and add the Bluetooth module. If the original speaker is good you can use that or add new. I don’t remember where I bought mine but this is very close. www.amazon.com/DEVMO-Bluetooth-Receiver-Electronics-Headphone/dp/B0899K8FCK

Its hard to find the flash unit on those. Once it got out that the light saber was made from one. I like them pushbutton light switches back there.
