Porch Board and Logarhythm Demo

  • I had been using a Logarhythm Travel Log for a few months for my 1 man acoustic gigs. I wasn't happy with the sound. I decided to plug it into an LR Baggs Para D.I. It made a huge difference but still was not what I wanted. I got myself a Porch Board after hearing a friend using one. It was worth every penny!! I had a jam at home with it and was delighted with the sound, but to further enhance my gig I thought, "well what if I use both and use the Logjam as a snare type effect. This video is the very first time I have tried this out so excuse the many hiccups here and there and also the noise of my 2 year old daughter from time to time.
However, you will get the idea and hear yourself how good they sound together. I have my guitar tuned to DADGAD and plugged into a Boss OC-3 octave pedal for that extra bass sound to fill out my sound. I am quite happy with it and look forward to mastering playing it all together!
I would advise you to use headphones to get the full sound experience.

Hahaha playing and singing with young kids yammering for attention in the background is so relatable! 😂 Admirable job.

Just stumbled across the logjam. Cool contextual combo on eq differences . Whole new ball game to playing solo.

Love it! I was thinking of trying this very thing. You might want to try attaching a few tambourine bells to the log jam or a loose piece of sheet metal.

I actually have tried a few ideas like that. I must upload a new vid with how it has progressed.

It's actually quite a pain in the arse. I've been tipping away with it when I can to master it better but I'll get there. Just adds a bit more to the solo gig sound.

Thanks for posting this. Having a look at stomp boxes for the first time and came across your video. The combination of two boxes sounds great but I bet it takes some practice to get the feet coordinated with all that's already going on with guitar playing and vocals too. I'm playing Celtic music on a Roland digital accordion and I'm already playing bass and guitar accompaniment with the left hand and melody with the right so why not add a third element and put my tapping feet to use. By the way, kid noise is the sound of life itself. All the little annoyances of the moment will be fondly looked back upon when they are no longer there. I'm sure things have changed in the years since this video was posted and you might agree.

This is fantastic Darren, I love it! I finally got into making a new website and am going to try and figure out how to add links for videos just like this. Happy Thumpin Brother!

Cool video and idea! Need to get a porch board! I've got the logjam, not much bass on it! What guitar you using mate?

There is no better stomp box than the Poarchboard in my opinion. Expensive but soooooo worth it. My guitar is a Tanglewood TW28 CSN. I adore it. Serious guitar and it cost about €600! A great example that buying big expensive names is not the answer to finding a great guitar.

thanks for the comment. Yes it does to a certain extent. Tapping it lighter or harder, you can hear a difference. In terms of dynamic range it's quite decent.
