In the novelization of ROTJ, when the Rebels are sneaking around outside the shield bunker, Han says something (I'm paraphrasing) "I just hope Luke can keep Vader off our backs". They all knew that if Vader were in that shield bunker, they were done. He WAS The Bogeyman.

It’s because he is a hybrid. Narcissistic psycopat. 100% selfobsessed , but with the abillity to impulls control. In the end it was his grandiosity, that was the end of him. He thought he was more important to Vader than his own son. Even after baiting Luke to kill Vader. The same way Anakin killed Tyranus, to become Lord Vader.

Even before watching the video, I'm already guessing that Sideous kept his Sith identity hidden, but Vader was allowed to reveal his identity as a Sith lord, simply in a power play, because people already feared Vader as it is, but that he wasn't the brains of the operation for the Empire. With that being said, if they discovered that Sideous was a Sith, as well as Vader's master, it'd be a testament to how brilliant and powerful Sideous was, almost as if a realization would set in that the galaxy truly belongs to Sideous.
Sidious kept his Sith-ness secret because it would cause open defiance and fracture the Empire just as it was getting started. A few beyond Vader knew, like Mas Amedda and Sly Moore, but few others.
But I feel like it should’ve been obvious that palpatine was a Sith Lord. If the guy that ranks just below him is a Sith Lord, surely it’s obvious palpatine is too.

In Star Wars legends of the novel series during the 1990's, they came out the Skywalker twins were Vader's children a couple of years after Endor. With a few sub plots most of the galaxy really didn't care or were too busy with their own little lives to bother with greater politics and who is related to who. I live in a small town and our state politics been out of hand for all my life.
Asking if Palpatine was a Sith is like asking which Usa president was a Freemason. To most it doesn't matter.
b.) Few points about legends early novels, .. Sith Spawn has been a slur/curse before Vader showed up. And there were still battle droids in scrap yards from a thousand years ago.
Han Solo trilogy, an imperial ran a record check on the name Vader. Due to the scale of the old Sith empires of the past, Vader meant " Him " in over fifty system languages across Hutt space. More along the lines of, " Oh mother of god, F-ck ! .. It's HIM ! "
By the time Han was in the service and went smuggler, imperials would just say its " Him." rather than say his name out loud for fear of being recorded.
c.) By the time Han & Leia had the Solo twins, imperial first said it as a slur but later as a compliment referring to Princess Leia as Lady Vader. Cause she got things done along with cutting good deals.
Mara Jade was referred to as Palpatine Daughter since was a grey Jedi raised Emperor Hand and her and Luke's son Ben by the time, he was 15 was regarded by old imperials as, .. " Palpatine's Heir."
Other wise bad writing or the writers poking fun at the reads sense of logic. Please remember most comics were written for the reading level of an 8 to 14year old. And novels of pop fiction is for teenagers and mid twenties. You see things differently by your thirties.
Sidious greatest strength was that no one knew that he was the Dark Lord and made it that no one will ever be prepared for him, and those who knew his secret were either his servants or dead.

It makes sense Vader didn't try to mask him being a Sith, he spent his entire life as Anakin Skywalker shackled and unable to exhibit all the power he felt was his right to use, even Darth Sidious wouldn't of been able to get Darth Vader to ease up on his force abilities after everything was said in done as far as the empire's construction went.
Imagine if The Mereks were around during the prequel era according to Sidious in a alternate ending after Starkiller got burnt up badly he had a equal potential to Sidious before the injuries so if Galen was born into the order in the prequel era i am sure Sidious would of saw him as someone to replace Anakin/Vader with post handicaps much earlier on yeah.
im not sure if a lot people knew if Vader was a former jedi in legends but it was maybe a handfull of people that knew vader was aniken. in the book where we see prince isolder (might remember the wrong name, but he was a leader of criminal organisation knowen as either dark or black sun duringing the imperial era) was a person that was aware of vaders true identity and in the book we see the thoughts of both sidious and the prince. sidious is thinking that as long as the prince never reveals that he is aware of vaders true identity he will be allowed to live but if he ever reveals it even to vader or sidious he would be killed. (might rememeber it a little wrong since its maybe 10 years since i read the story in question)

Prince Shinzor i believe. He knew because he was listening to when the Emperor was talking to Vader during Empire Strikes Back about who destroyed the Death Star and about turning or killing him.

Is there a reason Kenobi, or Yoda, didn't rat out Palpatine's truth to the wider galaxy? Sure, they were in hiding, so they wouldn't directly, but they easily could have told Bail Organa, if just to warn him, and then he spread it out as an effort to undermine the Emperor. Maybe they were both simply too ashamed, or didn't want to further damage the credibility of their own Order by drawing attention to a very similar one, in the eyes of the uninitiated, but it kind of seems odd that the Emperor had more worry about accidentally giving himself away, than his rivals trying to undermine him.
At this point the sith were a thing of myrh.
Most people wouldn't understand the difference. It gave him a political edge, created a facade of sympathy.

IF Sideous was trying to pose Vader off as the "only" real Sith can see it as he would make a nice fall guy if things went BADLY. Able to be plausibly deniable... which.. kinda sounds anti fulfilling if you basically "win" against your enemies.. something that was LITERALLY an eon in the making.. an yet STILL very much in hiding. Guess even all powerful Dark mystic warriors have, EXTREMELY in this case, habits that die hard...

I always thought this was a given and understood by all, the whole point of the little old man was he was just a person who stood up for the regular people and thought it showed that he had even power over force users as just a normal man, so he uses the Sith and the Jedi way he wants and in doing so giving power to the normal people.

I think Palpatine could have gotten away with it if he pretended to join the Sith after the "Jedi betrayal". Claiming he did so to defend himself and the empire against future Jedi aggression. Saying that Vader convinced him the change was needed. And I think he would have needed to out Anakin as Vader to pull it off seeing how Anakin was perceived to be a hero of the war giving the Sith a strong leg to stand on. Plus in doing so he'd likely imply he was only an apprentice to Vader, further concealing his over all capabilities to potential adversaries. But it would have been a risky move regardless. Keeping quiet was likely the best choice at the time.

I know it’s unrelated to the topic in the video. But a topic brought up in a past video. I’d love to hear a deeper dive into the possibility that the force did not want Anakin to become a Jedi. The set of circumstances kind of make sense of it. Such as why would the chosen one be born on the planet of Tatooine at a time when the Republic and the Jedi were neglecting the Outer Rim the most instead of a core Republic world?
Imagine this Palatine, Ankain, and Tarkin travel through a wormhole. And wind up on the other side of the universe. Where they land on Skaro. On the Kaled lines. And taken to the Scientific Elite. And their supreme commander Davros. During the Mark 3 travel machine project??? And Palatine makes Davros and security chief Nyder part of his staff??? Then travel back to his galaxy. Palatine would not need the Death Star to keep his power in the Galactic Empire. But he would use the Daleks to rule the whole universe!!!!

Nothing will change GOOD or BAD....
It was more than that of everyone knew there'd be another civil war even if it was short lived. Imagine the jedi who were left teaming with the remnants of the separatists it would've set them back another ten years. They probably still would've lost but rebels separatists and the surviving jedi could do some damage and even expose his whole plot and without the death star being even close to complete lots could easily go wrong.

Originally palpatine was supposed to be like the emperor of japan and vader part of a shogunate. The emperor was more a figurehead that didnt give a fuck while the muffs and the sith ruled behind the curtain. That's why. Palpatine only became a sith guy after the first movie.
Sidious was indeed the worst of the worst when it came to Sith Lords.
