Was there a thought process behind going with the plugged Lexan ferrule instead of a standard threaded ferrule (maybe even Lexan?) Benefits? Drawbacks? Also, please understand that I am in no way questioning your techniques or quality of work. It looks great and I dig your content.
The Cuetec avid is a fiberglass shaft with a plug type ferrule. Lexan is a softer material like the PVC it comes with. It was changed mainly for looks. The hit is basically the same. The only drawback is scratches on the ferrule may be more noticeable than the white one. Thanks for the comment and watching 😁
Love your videos, just getting into it myself, so I can do repairs on the wife and my cues when needed. Mind telling me where you source your ferrules and such? Thanks in advance, I appreciate you
Es buen trabajo pero deberias de ponerle algun pad de color obscuro para que resalte el azul xq se pierde el color por ser translucido pero es muy buen trabajo y con otro tipo de botana para que luciera mejor
@@arsbilliards the other cue is a Maximiser graphite "earl Strickland" i think is made by cuetec also. When you were drilling, it looked like the white plastic material only went into the shaft 1.5" or so, did you completely remove it down to the fiberglass?
@@jaycee5584 Yes I completely removed the ferrule. The fiber glass tube appeared to be empty after the ferrule. In most carbon fiber tubes you find some sort of expanding foam but this fiberglass tube was empty. I found that interesting.
@@arsbilliards cool, thanks for the input, I normally make steel parts for hydraulic cylinders, first time playing with work like this:) The one i tried already was a sportcraft from walmart 20 yrs back that took screw in tips, plays much better now, I only went in 5/8" and made the tenon .312" dia x .600", wasnt sure how deep the plastic went, but left some on the id too. Original was 1" long aluminum tubing over the white plastic, I left 3/8" of the aluminum. Looks really cool and hope to get one sucessfully on the black graphite stick.
Can this be done to a peachhauer carbon fiber shaft? Someone asked about the liquid polishing the tip. Are you referring to a wax for the edges of the tip? I've installed my own tips just haven't found what to use on the sides of the tip yet.
Yes I have done this on a few carbon fiber shafts. It looks awesome and it plays great. Ill post a video installing one on a carbon shaft here soon 😁 I always finish my tip jobs with McDermott Silky Shaft Wax. It looks and feels great

That clear ferrule is so cool! But that cheap tip! Omg lol 😂 Why spend all that money for custom ferrule work and throw on a $5.00 tip? I was expecting a Kamui or something high end. Oh well, maybe the cue belongs to an old man. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Still great work though!
Great job, looks awesome !

@@arsbilliards Thanks for the response and explanation. Great work.👍
Hey bro great work. Looks great. Can you tell me what you are using to hold up the shaft on the other end of that lathe?
What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of a clear ferrule
Absolutely beautiful!

Atlas supplies is a great online store for everything you need to build or repair a cue.
that is an amazing work. Not sure of the tip quality though, any layered would be perfect!
Did this change the hit or does it still have the tink sound like factory.
Beautiful work!
Thanks 😁
Hi, How do you know how much you are cutting from the ferrule to make it flush to the wood shaft?
si me podrias decir que heramienta usas para cortar la suela en el video y los sandpaper te lo agradeceria mucho
16:54 what are you soaking into the tip? And what did you spray it with?
que líquidos le aplica a la suela y que líquidos le pone a las espumas de colores?
Great job. I am one that appreciates craftsmanship.
Thanks appreciate it

Ill try that next time 😁
Wonderful work 👍

Very cool, vid inspired me to test out same thing on a cheap cue, worked out good, trying to get up the nerve to do it to a nicer stick:)
Sweet glad to hear it

Where can I buy this lathe?
Hola que insumos utilizaste ?
Fabulous.!!
Hi, what's the size of the last bit you used when boring the shaft? I'm instructing my local cuemaker to make this.😅😅😅
I'm not exactly sure maybe around 3/8. It depends on the size of the shaft though.
Great job but why u do all the machining if u were just going to cut it off
The clear tenon got inserted into the shaft it wasn't cut off if that's what you are referring to
Is the material used lexon
yes
De que ciudad del.mundo se encuentra esta torneria es impresionante lo que hacen
Riverside California, Gracias 😁
What shaft did you do that on?
It's a cuetec avid fiberglass shaft
Please tell me where you got those sanding pads
They are called Micro-Mesh Sanding Pads.
They are great to have around 😁

Yes
hi what glue do u use to make sure the ferrule sticks ?
I use a Flex Epoxy from Total Boat
@@arsbilliards is it what u would recommend to fix cuetec cynergy ferrule also?
@@tanchunhan1447 If you like how the clear looks sure, but I would recommend doing a white ferrule so you have something to sight down
Great work !! What is the clear stuff you applied at the end with the square pads, before you shaped the tip ?
It's just water, on micro mesh sanding pads
@@arsbilliards Thank you
Nice job ! What kind of tip did you install ?
Thanks, Its a Elk Master Milk Dud that the customer provided for the install
Those shits suck, Jesus Christ. Mf plays in a bar 🤣
what was the material you used for the Ferrule?
Its a polycarbonate called lexan
19:55 wat liquid do you use to polishing the tip?
its McDermott's wax compound
this shit fire
Is this an avid shaft?? Or one of the older ones. I need to replace an avid ferrule and wondered if this is how it would be done.
