What if the AFL's Biggest Rivals Merged ?

- Let's take some of the AFL’s biggest rivalries (and one that Wikipedia says is a rivalry) and merge the two rival teams together.

I use photoshop and a template I originally found on bigfooty but I’ve made some additions/adjustments to the template over the years.

I remember when there was talk of Collingwood taking over North. I mischievously suggested blue black and white stripes which would actually look sensational. The Collingwood fan was not impressed.

I'd be interested in your designs of international jumpers. For example NZ AFL, UK AFL... etc. Britain had a union jack on their jumper which looked great. But now replace it with a blue jumper and a red and white V. A bit boring. I'd be interested in USA team jumper designed. Then specifically NY or LA etc. London, Glasgow... Paris etc...

@@mattn1 you've probably seen when West PErth went through their international stage to get more English and South African fans in international round. If you're in WA and up Joondalup way look into the WP window facing onto the Arena carpark. All the international jumpers are framed on the wall. you've got to walk over a garden bed though.
Just imagine if the teams did merge, it almost happened during the 80-90's with a bunch of those team, it would cut down the Victorian advantage dramatically. But it would happen in this stone age.
Hawthorn vs North Melbourne? A bit of a rivalry in the 70s, but I don't think those 2 clubs are bothered these days.....
Surprised you don't merge Eagles and Dockers with some LA Lakers design. But then again Freo actually need to actually wear purple and not something that resembles navy more.

How come there is a massive Cardinals sign at Joondalup scoreboard now. That's really one for traditionalists. Now, WP do not want to change their name to Joondalup Falcons. Is a solution that they change their name to Joondalup Cardinals (Cardies). Would the WP fanbase and supporters tolerate it? It would allow the Joondalup name. Win win? Lets face it Falcons was always a rubbish name. Cardies is iconic and traditional
It's obviously an ode to the former nickname, that scoreboard from 2 weeks ago isn't actually in use anymore
And no the Joondalup name still wouldn't be tolerated and I don't blame the older supporters, they've already been taken away from their traditional heartland (even it was the correct decision
@@nyrkyg2213 I went to Joondalup the following week and the scoreboard had been ripped down. I'm glad I got a photo of it. It was just ridiculous that Cardies was replaced, but yes its really too late now. I don't know if an AFL team called West Perth would get many supporters onboard now. It may be lineball West Perth vs Joondalup. West Perth jumper would look good but it couldn't be Falcons. If North moved to Perth would they be Joondalup Roos or Joondalup Wanneroo Roos.
