Trump's aggressiveness shouldn't be taken lightly by anyone, it's a terrifying scenario to even think about, because we're not just talking about his expansionistic dreams towards Greenland, he is also talking about Canada and is amassing a large force on America's southern border, the similarities between himself and Putin are growingly more obvious to the rest of the world.

Canada is a commonwealth protectorate and NATO member. Also, Canada has more options than the US when it comes to trade. In theory it could seek closer ties to the EU, including becoming a member. There's zero chance of Canada becoming a US state.

In April, Greenland might vote for independence and Denmark have no say in it and Denmark can not stop it, because The former Queen of gave Greenland a gift in 2009, the right to remove from The kingdom of Denmark.

The idea of the United States purchasing Greenland is completely absurd. You cannot approach someone to buy a property that they don’t own. Denmark does not own Greenland; it belongs to the Greenlanders.
Firstly, this proposal is deeply disrespectful to Greenland’s people. Attempting to negotiate with their former colonial rulers over their territory ignores their autonomy and self-determination. Greenland is already on a path to gaining greater independence, and while full independence might be challenging due to their small population and economic constraints, selling the territory to the U.S. would obliterate any hope for sovereignty. Considering how the U.S. treats its own Indigenous populations, Greenlanders would likely face cultural and environmental exploitation, especially given Greenland's untapped natural resources and strategic significance.
Secondly, this approach undermines diplomatic relations. If national security is the primary concern, the U.S. could simply collaborate with Denmark-one of its closest allies and a founding member of NATO. Greenland is already NATO territory through its association with the Kingdom of Denmark, and the U.S. has existing military bases on the island. There is no need for ownership to ensure security; diplomacy would suffice.
Ultimately, this proposal isn’t about American national security, it’s about Trump’s ego and greed. He appears more interested in making a show of "making America great again" than respecting Greenland’s people, the environment, or international alliances like NATO. Such a move would destabilize relationships within NATO and threaten the alliance’s future.

Strangely, I find myself understanding Putin more, at least to a certain degree, because he seems to me like the proverbial 'Rat in a corner', scratching and biting in any which way he can, trying to escape the inevitable, but as regards to Trump, he appears to be quite mad, as he has no such concern! Think back to the campaigns in 2024, he was wandering from one subject to another claiming he was doing the "weave", whatever that was. I can't decide whether he has dementia, or was he doing it on purpose. Move forwards to the Executive Orders, he asked the guy who was handing them to him, to tell him what they were for. The big question in my mind is : Who wrote those orders, was it the people who are pushing him to enact the policies of Project 2025 ? He's denied knowing anything about it but they were advisors to him during his first Administration and are known to him due to their many visits to Mara Largo.

Buying Greenland is impossible, because just as Trump is not able to violate the Constitution by signing a decree, then selling Greenland would be a violation of the Danish Constitution. So it's simply not possible, no matter how we look at it. Greenland want to rejoin the EU, which can only happen if they are part of a United Kingdom of Denmark, but as an independent country in their own right, in the same way Scotland is an independent country within the realm of the UK. The PPP (28 trillion) and size of population (448 million) of the EU + the UK, is also larger than that of the USA, so it would make perfect sense, just as the USA also need Europe and the free world as allies and trading partners. The USA is already in huge debt and would crash and burn financially and implode on itself without Europe and the free world.

If Denmark and the EU can't emotionally handle the fact that Greenland needs to be under the dominion of US Constitutional Law, then they have a serious problem. This problem has been going on since WW2, and frankly the US is getting a bit tired of the spoiled European attitude that the US is their personal big brother that will protect them, even when they have refused to protect themselves since the day NATO was founded. Year after year, and lie after lie, the US is tired of giving them a free ride. It's not just sad, it's pathetic. The only question Denmark needs to ask themselves, is whether or not they want to be compensated after the US gains control of Greenland.

  • @Cortaxify
    @Cortaxify 6 дней назад

Well, an recent survey that was done at the request of the Danish government came back that 85% was against becoming part of the us with only 6% for so it seems very unlikely Trump will be welcomed with open arms in Greenland if he tries to take it by force. The irony is that his action might actually bolster the Greenlandic independence moment to the point they can get enough of the population to support leaving Denmark which is well within their right in an open democracy. And in such a scenario he would have even less control over the area as Denmark has been a longtime ally of the US.....Greenland as an independent nation however is a wildcard. Just my thoughts on it.
And yes, US already have a military presence on Greenland so its quite clear this is a move to try to grab Greenland's resources which I doubt would be in the Local Greenlanders interest.

The only thing they agreed not to discuss was Greenland, leaving it totally up to diplomats and the foreign office for the time being, so there are obviously lots of more urgent issuesl that need to be resolved before Greenland is going to be discussed at top government level. In any case, there is a General election in Greenland for their 31 seat Parliament on 1. April, so nothing is going to happen within the next 2 month.

The UK will intimately have to choose between rejoining the EU or joining NAFTA. Why? Because front edge UK industries and their companies lack the economy of scale to compete from outside either the EU or NAFTA.
Nevertheless, the EU needs governance reform. The Germans have 16 States and 1 vote as a country. The Balkans are many small countries and if EU would have multiple votes. Why should the Germans be penalized for having a Federal Republic?
The UK left the EU because the France dominated EU bureaucracy in Brussels, Belgium was making regulations and rules never agreed to by the Member countries. However, will the French ever agree to EU governance they cannot manipulate?
Europeans talk often about building a military without the US. Here is a project. Create a single Corps of 3 Divisions plus 5 Regiments of Artillery. Each Division will have 4 Brigades plus 1 Battalion Artillery. Of course, all the related support Units at every level would be required. This creation would all be on paper, with the assumption the countries could immediately deploy an actual Unit for each Unit committed on paper.
The European Corps would have to develop a battle plan and write a 5 Paragraph OPORD. Then the Corps would have to execute its plan on all levels. The Objective, liberate Belarus. After the execution is played out on simulators, an After Action Review would be conducted where leadership gaps or scheme flaws were uncovered. At the Company Level, multiple OPORDs would be required from their Battalions complete their mission.
After the simulated exercise, taking 2 months to plan and 2 weeks execute, each country would have to produce the involved Units. Can these European countries? Spain could not with its support to Ukraine.
