When the paradigm shifts we think about what was and can’t imagine the world of what will be. Something tells me Apple will show us tools that allow us to think differently and unlock a new world of possibilities.
This 👌 It will be probably a great experience and I’m all for it. (Didn’t buy it yet though) Using multiple or a big monitor to edit videos or graphic design, taking it on a trip with just a macbook. Or just watching movies in a big cinema screen while laying on the bed. Come on, life is that, just experiences after experiences and I’m all for a good experience.
Monitor is frame for windowed apps with finite space. With Vision Pro imagine it as infinite canvas .. no frame at all. Spatial computing is way different experience than monitor
I want a version of DaVinci Resolve Studio for the Vision Pro that will allow you to walk through your Fusion page in and place objects, cameras and lights in a virtual environment.
If you have Resolve running on your Vision Pro, then why does it matter how many monitors it supports? You can place any number of windows anywhere in space around you, unbound by screens. If you're talking about bringing your Mac screen into Vision Pro, it supports one. But you should only run apps on your Mac that won't run on Vision Pro. For example, for me I will use the Mac screen for Xcode, but all other apps will run directly on the headset and whose windows will not be bound by any screen. The reason why other headsets (like the quest) do screen mirroring is because they're not powerful enough to run the apps you need, and the only way to support them is to pretend to be a series of monitors, hence the virtual multi-monitor display. However, screens & monitors are an artifact of the past and windows should be free to float anywhere in the space around you. In Vision Pro, this is the way :)
That is definitely the dream for most folks that work on a Mac all day but there are some concerns as well. To name a couple, I think comfort and eye fatigue will probably be at the top of my list and the only reason I didn’t order one yet. I’ll be watching future vids for updates however. Cheers
On a theoretic level - and given the device provides a good quality experience - a virtual 3D interface should allow for a smaller eye-strain because of the way our eyes interact with objects. That's because we would move our eyeballs more, and would focus on many windows/objects which distance from us is constantly changing. So, we would use more eye.muscles, stretch and reinforce them.
Ordered one myself. Hoping they come out with a Vision version of these apps. Logic Vision Pro with midi knobs and controllers you can actually turn in VR. or even Final Cut Vision Pro That are undockable screens essentially in a 180/360 field of view. Resolve Vision Pro with an AR color wheel mimicing the hardware versions.
I will wait to see what the real value added that Vision Pro brings to the game. I also wear glasses and when you get right down to it, it is the cost vs benefit of using them. The other videos I have seen today have people choking on the price when all is said and done. It really has to be a game changer is so many ways to justify itself. I will wait to see what you discover. Thanks.
I think you could only have a single 4k monitor for your mac. Sending realtime 4k footage wirelessly is already very taxing. Also not full P3 coverage.
I would love if you could test photoshop and Lightroom on the Vision Pro...according to color accuracy....it maybe could be a game changer for photographer
Thanks for the video! I'm still not planning on buying the Vision Pro until I hear real world experiences from editors. I got burned with the Meta Quest 3. I have a fully spec'd-out m2 Ultra 196 GB of RAM. I closed all my programs except for Davinci and "Immersive." Although the image looked acceptable, the performance and lag were not optimal. It was really slow. I really hoping the Pro Vision lives up to the hype. I love the idea of editing in an immersive environment and super large screen showing my timelines, audiowaves and scopes. Crossing my fingers!
It does not support multiple monitors or screens just the main scree from your Mac, but you can add different apps directly from their vision pro apps which its a bummer, main reason I want to get it its to be able to use Photoshop, Lightroom, FCPX
I hope they tweak DaVinci Resolve so it can streamline editing Spacial / 3D videos. Right now, 3D workflow is too complicated. You need to split spacial videos into two Bins (left and right) using something like FFMPEG, then after you finish editing, you need to deliver each view (left and right), then build another project to merge them back to side by side, then convert that to Apple's Spacial format using another program..
Except you have multiple screens on your desk, and the Vision Pro (currently) only supports a single virtual screen from what we've seen. So yes you can have a virtual display in front of you, but only the one and not all the other screens you're accustomed to.
interesting! you must be a fast Video editor, because you neck will have six-packs or do a lot of neck push-ups to have enough muscle on your neck to keep Apple Vision pro on your head to edit a video for that long, except apple adjust some metal parts to reduce the weight, i will love that, i will still own one either way...lol. but certainly not for Video Editing.
Apparently, Apple say the Apple Vision is a 4K screen for your MacBook. To me that sounds like one display only, and probably not really scalable in terms of going superwide or such.
That's exciting! I wish I could use Vision Pro as a productivity tool to replace my screen. But so far Apple has not shown much of that. All I have seen are dinosaurs roaming which would be nice for the first 5 minutes of owning a Vision Pro.
I am sure this will be the best kind of experience on the market. Apple is the best at it. I am just not sure I will be able to use it as I start feeling a bit nauseous by just watching demos of this tool in your video :)
I heard that you can’t type .. Bluetooth keyboard/mouse required … and no RUclips so you’d need to post on a separate posting process…. Are you looking at at an older promo ?
@@initialfocusif true .. I might plan on getting one … but … like anything in the Apple world, do I wait for the next release ? I really want the ability to have multiple screens, irrespective of my MacBook settings. 3 screens inside a Vision Pro, alongside using my MacBook as the processing unit would truly be a game changer. 3 screens at $500/each plus additional hardware is my first offset in cost, then not needing another 65” tv for my movies and such may just tip the balance. I wonder what apples plans for upgrades/new releases will look like too. Aaargh! Decisions decisions..
Yes but it’s an important distinction because resolve thinks in monitors. Yes I can open multiple windows but will the resolve app translate that properly so I can have a “multi monitor” setup.
Can you only have one virtual display? Does that even matter? You can split out Premiere into different windows all within the same monitor. Wonder how this will work with editing software. I want to be able to have all the elements around me, as if I had three screens, but on an airplane.
How about a full avatar on FaceTime complete with hands ,legs and all ? I mean I down facing camera could already track hands so legs would. Or be that hard to track and imagine the avatar in your room walking round as though the person is there with you ☺️☺️☺️☺️
And I heard if you got a Intel Mac your stuffed as you have to use external apps for it to be compatible and I can use Intel or M Series Mac's and PC on my Quest 3 and that only cost the orice of the applen care of the device
I'm excited for you to test this! MKBHD on the waveform podcast was saying this is the heaviest headset they've ever used. After 20 mins they were getting a headache from using it because of its weight. Editing for hours on this? While I want this to be the future, this won't be it...yet. For now you're better off with the AR glasses you can already use. Less weight and much cheaper if editing is your goal. Looking forward to your testing!
This is what testing is for :) I’m interested to see if the load will be on the computer using sidecar or if it’ll be taxing on the vision internal chip. But if they are willing to put it in the App Store I’m sure it’s working pretty well
@initialfocus It should be fine if you're using sidecar. My concern is if you're trying to edit on the Vision Pro itself. I think that will be a bad experience.
Apple Vision has two fans in it. Also, not only it has the M2, but the R1. The latter will manage the interface and it's refresh. Don't you worry that you'll see no lags ;)
What I don't get about these headsets is, how is this NOT far worse for your eyes than a monitor already is. You are looking at a light source an inch away from your retinas. It just sounds like the obvious flaw of this concept. Just do the same with your iPhone or laptop, stick it an inch away from your eyes and see how good that feels.
Hilarious how Apple fans react to Apple's first VR headset. It's like Apple has invented VR LOL. There have been VR headsets for 8 years!!!. The current headsets ($400) are as good/bad as the Apple VR headset ($3500). You can't even wear glasse with the Apple headset for crying out loud!! There are hardly any apps for this device. There will be NO RUclips and NO NETFLIX apps. Meta Quest has thousands and thousands of apps. Gaming, travel and tourism, VR shopping, 3D movies, 360 degree games, education and sooooooooooo much more. The Apple headset is ridiculous expensive and very limited. APPLE MARKETING AND APPLE FANBOYS.
You know what’s worse than fanboying? Bashing tech you clearly don’t understand. - not one creator covering Vision Pro has claimed Apple invented VR/AR. We fully understand how long it’s been out. - no. A $400 headset is not as good. Is the quest 2 & 3 and other headsets really good at those price points? Yes. They certainly aren’t crap and provide a ton of features, apps and experiences like you mentioned. But Vision Pro has much better pass through, 4K screens in each eye so the resolution, fidelity of hand gestures and interactions with elements is leaps beyond those cheaper headsets. - hardly any apps is misleading. Yes most of us want more immersive spatial apps. But technically speaking there are over a million apps available in the store for it. It’s been out a week…chill. - RUclips is coming at some point and I’m sure Netflix will too as the user base grows. - Vision Pro is a gen 1 product that in a lot of ways pushes the category of VR/AR forward. Because of it we’ll see an even better quest 4 and other headsets. Competition is good. If you can’t see the Vision Pro for what it is then you’re no different than someone who just fanboys with no understanding. Grow up.
Yeah, how many average people have 3,500.00 for the vision pro? Not sure why everyone is so excited to do something that they can already do but do it while wearing googles.
How many people had $20K for flat screens when they first launched? 3 years from now there will be a $500-1K version of these. It’s in the early adopter stage now.
@@initialfocus I think it’s highly unlikely that you’ll see a Vision product that costs less than a similarly-specced iPad Pro, due to the increased complexity of the industrial design and the tech stack. Adjust your expectations accordingly.
