@@tueseptlikha7274 Scales are taught in the program and are not a pre-requisite to join
What about pinch harmonics
@@SnapdragonAtheistThose are easy
@@coopjones300 💀💀💀
I have more trouble alternate picking than economy picking, because i started out self thaught and economy picking just felt more natural
Same
Same, my brain stops when I try alternate picking.
Same. I can't alternate pick to save my life, economy picking is all I know. Also how the hell did he put hybrid picking as harder than sweep picking, hybrid picking is easy as shit if you've ever played any amount of fingerstyle.
@@static_motion lol, I learned hybrid picking without knowing what it was because I suck at upward picking
Omg same!! I kinda figured out economy picking naturally and so it is weird to force my hand to alternate
Could’ve sworn the hardest was talking to girls
Nope, the hardest technique on guitar is actually making money with a guitar.
@@ggdk2865You just sell it
You mean with a bass
"Every one is on CIGARETTES!" 🤣 this guy is low key hilarious 😂
being self taught is crazy because I just looked up what economy picking is and I just call that picking
Jup, same here. When I enter the shred speed my brain automatically goes eco picking.
Same as well. Alternate picking always felt like some kind of exercise to me.
Yeah I thought eco picking was poor technique loo
The real hardest is probably doing the crazy double thump plus using index middle and ring like Tosin Abasi does
Selective picking
It’s not as hard as I thought it was to be honest
Once you get going that is
I still struggle with the high e tho, cause there’s nothing below it for your thumb to rest on top after you hit it
Muting it is also a very unique challenge
Nvm I think you’re right, it’s pretty difficult if you really think about it lmao
@@eduardogerardoislasalmague3357 Thumping.
@@_xfuturetrunksx_ Selective thumping. There, it's settled
Can we rename it Abasi-picking?
To me sweep is actually harder than fast alternate picking 😂
funny how the top 2 are very natural to me while I still struggle with sweeping lol.
I took up cigarettes years ago, and I can finally play the pentatonic scale! Never give up!
as a bass play that picked up guitar, economy picking was actually the easiest for me to learn. it feels a lot like the finger picking on bass and it’s very natural. 😁
I’ve always found economy picking a lot easier than alternate picking because it flows better in my right hand, I didn’t think this was an unpopular opinion
I agree, I find it to be easier than alt picking because it is more straightforward, no having to jump a string to pick it
I have one track I play often and the best way to play the main riff feels like it's economy-picked and you're so right that it fucks with your brain and shit
As a guy who sucks at fingerstyle, Hybrid picking is probably gonna be harder for me than number 1
For some reason I always naturally economy pick and I find forcing myself to alternate pick quite difficult.
What speed and note duration though?
Because with economy picking you can follow the momentum right until the next string during string changes. Strict alternate picking faces the issue of being trapped between strings which requires specific pick stroke escape motions (USX, DSX) it gets very technical but that can all be ignored if you just do economy picking. Ultimately, economy is just easier.
Thank god I naturally economy pick. I can pick at around 200 bpm and can't do strict alternate picking. But I have no regrets
im going .......to practice
Learning to economy pick early in my playing is one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself
I try to economy pick as much as possible and didn’t know it was a thing. I’m only 3 months in
I have become emotionally dependent with the "now just leave" line.
My loved guitar teacher taught me economy picking before practicing the alternate picking, brilliant
I learned economy picking before sweep picking, when i tried sweep picking it felt like butter
I pretty much naturally started Hybrid picking, I actually find it significantly easier than “normal” picking
I basically developed economy picking on my own as I was learning how to play, so straight alternate picking is something I have to really force. So my list wouldn't even contain economy picking because I find that super easy, but alternate picking and string skipping mess with me a lot.
The end of the description is wild 💀
Fast alternate picking is low-key so easy
I believe downpicking consistently and evenly should be included on the list haha
Ahh good old hetfield technique, downpick at inhuman speeds
"It f**ks with our 🧠 and 💩" 😂😂
Cant believe i can master most hardest but cant master sweep
I would say the hardest technique involves a whammy bar. If you know you know.
Basically you use the whammy bar as a way to bend and accent notes, and also use it as the tremelo. Basically lets say you're going to the 14th fret of G, but you want the note to start as an F, you're pushing down the whammy, hitting the 14th fret, and then letting the whammy bar come up to a G from there. Its very tricky when it comes to doing that on multiple strings, but it makes notes that much more effective for solo work.
I didn't have a teacher for my first year and half. I play economy picking with much ease. Can't alternate pick even if I want
I started out the gate down picking, so alternate picking is super hard for me to do
You're awesome man. Hilarious and brilliant guitar stuff! Thanks. :-)
When I do 32nd note runs now, economy picking just happens.
I’ve been combining hybrid picking and legato for over ten years, and I still have trouble haha definitely a fun challenge
I'm self-taught and started with economy picking. When I started taking lessons after playing for 15 years the teacher was like, "dude thats wrong but like, not wrong." I struggle with alternate picking.
Keep economy picking so you have your own style instead of sounding generic
Economy picking is hard on descending runs, but ascending are reeeally smooth for me, and it was an automatic thing I've done for a long time without even knowing.
I think of picking as a pushing motions, almost like sweep picking. I do a lot of economy picking unless its more efficient alt picked (paul gilbert pick) so when doing ascending runs it's almost a pushing motion in the forearm with wrist motions doing the picking. Descending is the same but wih a pulling motion. I guess I have been programmed to always start a descending lick with an upstroke to make it easier
I’m a big time beginner who’s held guitars for over a decade but I sure wish I learned all these things when I started including music theory. Makes me feel a bit sad but it’s never too late!
My whole band are on cigarettes and it does my fucking head in 😅 I'm trying to convince them that no cigarettes is the way forward 👌
Amazing ... But for me economy picking was far easier than alternate picking even though I learnt it much later.... Especially in ascending triplets. For me the most difficult is Octatapping...
Picking is what holds me back, I’m left handed and have played right handed instruments my whole lift. Naturally I can shred with my fretting hand and ruin everything with my right hand 😅
I’m literally on my porch smoking a cigarette, I feel targeted
🙃 I’m trying to figure out if there’s a connection or he’s just saying stop smoking cigarettes
explains Legato while picking every single note.....
I learned hybrid picking way before sweep picking. And no, I still haven't learned sweep picking. Thanks for asking.
I love hybrid picking
As a metal guitarist I started with downpicking and struggle with alternate picking because the coordination just isn't there lol. Because of that I downpick everything that can be downpicked and it severely limits my playing unfortunately
I was expecting number 1 to be “LAY OFF THE CIGARETTES!!!!!!!”
Bends and pull-offs is harder for me than economy picking. And Sweep even harder, and hybrid picking the hardest.
Fast alternate picking is so much easier than sweeping/economy, but ive been playing rhythm in extreme metal for years
I can't alternate pick, I've always naturally economy picked.
Finally getting good at sweep picking and it allowed me to do my favorite riff from the black dahlia murder, “I will return.” Most of those I feel I will eventually master after practice but uh. Picking while using my fingers? Idk man.
I asked a friend to show me sweep picking, it turns out I already knew how to do it without the label😅
As soon as I got good at sweep picking I noticed myself economy picking more without realising. I'm by no means a master of it, but it's definitely made my picking more efficient
I would say the hardest techniques (in my opinion) is selective picking. Like Tosin Abasi. It’s a combination of economy picking and legato but with the synchronization of sweeping required.
Where’s pinch harmonics in this lineup?! I’ve tried and tried. I’m either missing some details that nobody is explaining, or I suck at it, lol. 😂 😂😂
got called out for being on cigs... feelsbadman
From playing classical guitar to electric, hybrid picking was THE first skill I picked up
Artificial harmonic chimes have entered the chat...
I honestly just watch this to hear his passive aggressive tone
I don't wanna go
do an updated list with selective picking
I've been doing economy picking since i started and never knew it had a name 💀i struggle with hybrid the most
self taught and I just naturally did econ picking and hybrid picking it just seemed like the obvious thing to do. Suck at alt picking
I'd kind of reverse the order. I learned how to speed pick (speed alternative picking) and hybrid pick relatively early on. Took me years to get sweep picking down. I just learned about economy picking so I haven't learned that. However, high speed legato still gots me fucked after 20 years.
My favorite hybrid picker is Johnny Winter
Tosin Abasi is giggling rn
The cigarette joke killed me
I have never even heard of economy picking until now
everyones on cigarettes i almost died laughing !!!!!
I have not once subscribed to a newsletter in my life, Sir.
When I get as good as him I know I’ll have fookin made it
Thanks to my Metallica addiction, I started with downpicking and I can't stop 💀
And I’ll keep fucking chugging
I started with downpicking for the first 2 years of my guitar life, then I learned alternate, and 14 years later I have a problem with both... 😂
My 5 hardest guitar technigues-
1 Fixing that cable that must be rotated to the exact degree and angle to work,
2. Watching RUclips when I should be playing and writing songs
3. Changing those old , dead , grimy strings.
4. Customizing ,my own sound instead of using another preset,
5. Thinking a riff is phenomenal because I roll my own cigarettes
Happy Halloween 🎃🎃🎃!
P.S. sorry to comment twice ... couldn't resist.
Thanks master I'm leaving the area, don't shoot me please.😢😂
Wow I actually like this vid
Not gonna lie. You actually make all of these techniques look easy
I have a real good legato, good sweep and thats it. I swept after like 3 years of playing and didnt get too much better last 10 years.
I can alternate pick 130bpm 16th notes, cant ecconomy or alternate pick.
I learned Chicken Pick’n as my first method. *Dances in Rock banjo❤️*
I learned sweeping only a couple months into playing guitar and only took year to learn economy picking my hands are really well synced
are you a prodigy
Frank Gambale / Eric Johnson on eco picking : "hold my beer"
Caught me so off guard when you played part of Pizza Tower's Final Boss theme demonstrating Legato
wait till you see that guy strum pinch harmonics
Actually I figured out how am i supposed to pick, and i thought i invented the economy picking.
Laughs in harp harmonics
I legit thought he would've said that the hardest technique was to find time to practice when you have to work, lol
Economy and sweep picking is much easier for me than alternate picking
Im lately really getting into economy picking, its very helpful
Awesome haha
I found economy picking really easy, though that's because my guitar teacher took me through Technical Difficulties for a baseline of my skillset, and started immediately with Economy Picking
Selective Picking is no. 1
Alternate picking is WAY easier than hybrid picking
I laughed so hard at this video 😂😂😂
Economy picking came natural to me . I struggle with alternate because it feels like I'm doing extra work for no reason.
i struggle most with string skipping
I played a lot of finger style, so hybrid was easy to pick up
The last one
Couldnt agree more 😂
It fucks with our brain hahahha very true
¿No string skipping?
Jokes on you.
Sweeping is so much harder than alternate. For me at least 😅
No matter how far u climb theirs always a new mountain to traverse
Thats why i love guitar
And if you ignore a technique long enough you start to lose it
alternomy picking is the hardest, do not argue the hardest of alternate vs economy just because you only best doing one of it, do both instead.
I've been on cigarettes for a long time that I lost hope of mastering the Guitar
