Edit: for those of you not understanding the laughter. This is a professional music school and this performance was done as a joke/fundraiser as the professors had jars and whatever professer the students put the most money in had to do a funny performance.
People whining about the laughing don't seem to realize this is being played as a joke.
Can you all read the desc of the video on why they were giggling and laughing?Please read before hating on people who have an excuse on their actions.
Ok, this is just straight up impressive. An organ was never intended to play this song, and yet he did it anyway.
What _was_ the organ intended to play then?
And we are waiting 2 years for an answer!

Great Pianists TIL there's a clearinghouse for church/pipe organs. That notion sounds so unusual, it's kind of funny even :)

Yes, vocal humor has its place. For those who hit the ceiling because of the chuckles need to think a bit before the stoning. You must put this light-hearted non-Bach piece in perspective. His encore was likely a bit of a humorous add-on. Folks who knew him were able to take the performance in jest, as intended. I attended a Dr. Carol Williams concert - she joked and put humor in her performance. It was fun. Peace, folks.....

And when the Vox Humana was turned on, I just had to grin. Oh, I've been playing the organ since I was 15 when I became the backup organist at our church. Uh... 43 years ago? Talking during the performance was rude, but the audience was otherwise having fun with it, like the performer.

They are laughing because "The Final Countdown" was a pop hit by the one-hit wonder group Europe. To have such a silly song played on a majestic instrument like a pipe organ is something worthy of laughing at.
Long time since I played the Beckerath...Folks, I'd have to assume that this was some type of music appreciation event for other students of the college. Any "regulars" or music majors would not act that way under penalty of death...or worse!
