The Chef Series 2024 - Angela Hartnett, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Nieves Barragán Mohacho

We were thrilled to host Michelin-starred cheffes Angela Hartnett, Lisa Goodwin-Allen, and Nieves Barragán Mohacho at The Datai Langkawi from 11 to 13 October for the fifth event of The Cheffe Series 2024. ⁠

Over three evenings, guests indulged in a 6-hands Degustation Dinner crafted by this exceptional trio. Angela Hartnett, celebrated for her simple yet sophisticated Italy-inspired cuisine, showcased her expertise as Chef Proprietor of Murano in Mayfair. Lisa Goodwin-Allen, Executive Chef at Northcote and a familiar face from BBC's Great British Menu, enchanted diners with her innovative creations, known for their visual allure and emotional resonance. Rounding out the line-up, Nieves Barragán Mohacho of Sabor brought her vibrant Basque heritage to the table with hearty, flavour-packed dishes reflecting her passion for authentic cuisine.⁠

Guests were treated to an eclectic menu, starting with amuse-bouches, highlighting locally sourced ingredients such as bluefin tuna and wild-caught sea prawn. This set the stage for a sublime 6-course affair, featuring sweet piquillo croquettes with Manchego shavings, seafood paccheri and heritage chicken. The evening concluded with two desserts, a tangy lemon curd cream and a rich blackcurrant and chocolate mousse cake. ⁠

The final event of The Cheffe Series 2024 will see the celebrated Slovenian Chef Ana Roš grace our rainforest resort on 24 and 25 January 2025. Chef Patron of Hiša Franko, one of the few restaurants globally to hold three Michelin Stars alongside the Michelin Green Star, Ana is known for her innovative approach to championing local produce and her unique culinary perspective. Widely recognised with accolades such as The World’s Best Female Chef and The Best Chef Pristine Award, her influence extends beyond the kitchen as an ambassador for gastronomic travel.⁠
