Very nice Pascal. I have a question about the proxmox install...I have never use it 😁 Does a proxmox install operate the same way as a standalone HAOS install? So can you upgrade your HA, does it run supervisor, can I restore my backups to it? What about port-access for example if I plug in my ZigBee dongle/Bluetooth dongel...will HA automatically pick them up, or are there specific requirements like in other virtual environments to get access to it?

      Hi Geo,
Nice to see you here and great question.
For all intents and purposes it work exactly like a physical machine. You can hook up any USB devices to it using pass through . Mine has 2 dongles passed through a Bluethooth and a Zigbee, there are no issues.
Most of the virtualisation platforms I used have this facility and sometimes, as is the case with Proxmox, you can even pass through a physical drive or a discrete graphics card.
it does run Supervisor as it is HAOS and you can restore the same way I show you how to backup.
In a nutshell, the script downloads the latest ISO from Home Assistant, configures the virtual environment and installs it into Proxmox. You have done this if you installed it on an x86 machine.
I run my Proxmox on an Intel NUC i5 with 1,5TB of SSD and 16Gb with for a small homelab is perfect and low power.

Managed to install and run HA on Raspberry Zero 2 W hehehe...
However, ESPhome fails to compile firmware.
Experimenting by compiling on another machine and uploading the binary via server/ota.

You can use docker for standalone ESPHome development, I may just do a Quickie video for that.
On another note, I’ve tried to install HA on an RPi Zero 2 W, it won’t even boot, what’s the secret?
I’ll do a video giving you all the credits for it, I have a use case too, my inverter’s Pi 4 4Gb runs HA and KellerZA’s add-on that is it. Overkill, don’t you think?

Overkill using Pi4, totally agree. Using Pi Zero W 2 with Solar Assistant on several solar installations. Built some D1 Mini using serial with ESPhome but haven't tried it on any of my inverters yet. Dylan actually assembled the little device for me. Bright young chat.
Will need to retrace my step but was actually able to run Supervised on RaspOS with 10" HDMI... can't remember if I got the touch to work.

@@jurievorster9470 I'll need to dig more into it, I've been meaning to try a D1 Mini with ESPHome, with the channel all my time has just evaporated. I am sure I'll have some when I get my stride, but right now...
