Show had a perfect ending in "je souhaite..." when Mulder could've wished for Scully to be able to bear a child but then would have learned that she's already pregnant and could use his last wish to set the Genie free. Hence Scully being relatively happy with him and her life. There actually was hope in that ending. Instead, they moved on with the show with Duchovny half in the cast and then fully gone and with a muddled mythology, continuing to torture those poor people, have Scully give away her child, have them on the run and unhappy... Why?! The last straw was the revival where they felt the need to have Scully learn that she had been forcibly impregnated yet again and that the child she spent thinking about for 18 years was created by the most hated person in their universe. Chris Carter may have created the show but these two created lovable, compelling characters that he 100% did not deserve. Without DD and GA as Mulder and Scully, who would have watched this for more than a couple of seasons? The fact that CC has the gall to be upset by Anderson's decision to not return as Scully is infuriating.
American writers and studios just can't end a series if it's popular. They just can't do it. They'd rather run a series into the ground than give it a dignified send off.
