    • @Phoenix.219
      @Phoenix.219 6 месяцев назад +2

      As kid when we played we treated it more like side piece which can give you major advantage. So basically we played it when we could not think of moving another piece bcz it was too risky so moved pawn bcz either it will be the one getting sacrifced or if it survives and reaches the other end, it gets upgraded & that is the coolest part of pawn. As a kid I obviously didn't know rules that much and played as per we knew so we upgraded pawn to the piece we had lost but I was watching a beginner video recently (bcz probably after 20 yrs I gained interest) of @GothamChess and he told that the pawn can be upgraded to any piece even if you have the all of the same piece already i.e. u can promote it to bishop even if u already have two bishops and we didn't know that so it becomes even cooler

    Well, Carlsen once missed that his opponent could mate in one him, and the opponent (Ivanchuk) did mate Carlsen in one after Carlsen missed that mate in one. So the missed tactic isn't necessarily an error as big as the missed mate in one. Also, though the combination in the video is quite simple, it requires at least a few moves calculation to see the result at the end.
