I had given up on golf after 20 years in the low 90's. Then one day I came across Golf Sidekick youtube channel. Newly inspired, I got a lesson from my local pro, have been playing more regularly and focused on having fun! I am now regularly in the mid 70's and consider myself a proud "Playa". Thanks my friend! Keep on giving to those in need and keep on learning. 👏
I'm also intrigued as to how you did it. Low 90s to mid 70s is a big difference, from maybe 16 handicap down to about 3 or 4 in a very short time. That's huge.
Well, I was always half decent off the tee box and with full wedges. My lacking was inside 100 yards and I would 3 putt almost every hole. My bunker play was atrocious too. Lesson and practice. Learning how to maximize time on the range. Letting go of the score. Playing within myself and having realistic expectations. Learning to shallow the club at the beginning of the downswing to be on plane was the first major step for me. And to be 100 transparent, I shoot 70's at my home course. When I play a new course, I might shoot closer to 80. I'm very okay with that! ...for now
After 13 years of playing (I’m 26 now) I’m finally ALMOST a scratch golfer and it feels so good. It took me a while because I never played golf competitively, but I’m a visual learner and this video helped me a lot! Thanks 🙏🏼
I enjoy listening to your commentary. Its seems sort of similar to like watching a David Attenborough nature documentary lol! I've learned alot in improving my own golf game by just listening more than actually watching the vids.
I took 17 years off from golf and bought a set of clubs last summer, now I want to play like Mo hitting driver on mostly every hole but maybe it's best to find my swing first. Great video
Mo is not skipping leg day! He's looking powerful. Love the thumbnail side by side. I'm working on swing plane and face control in the backswing, moving away from you and more toward Mo. (hopefully) Just what I needed to see right now. Thanks for the post!
Ive just come back to golf after 15 year lay off and follow your advice on every shot for last two rounds of the 5 have have played. Scores have gone - 108, 101, 104, 87, 87. If i can cut out the poor executions (not poor decisions just poorly played shots) i could get under 80 easy. Thanks for such entertaining videos that teach us to play within ourselves and not like Mo. It has changed my game and playing golf is more fun than looking for balls in bushes. Waddacoach
On the 18th... 38 yards over a bunker. And from the rough. That's one of the toughest shots you can have. I was watching the TaylorMade pros and they talk about leaving themselves 65-75 yards because closer than that is harder to judge. One more thing the pros have sorted out. This was my very first Golf Sidekick video, well done!
I was born in Thailand but have been in th U.S. since I was a toddler. I so enjoy watching you play these courses. Snuk kab chiwit man ma phrxm kab wan hmdxayu
You always remind me to stay within yourself. I play with a scratch golfer and let’s say the first time meeting up I did all the things you warn against. Lucky for me my friend has tons of grace and is appreciative of my dedication to getting better. I started this season at a +18 and now am able to score in the low 80s on the regular.
Your videos are getting me thinking in the right direction. Your advise on being a better playing partner for better players is astoundingly right on. I really can't get enough and can't thank you enough man! Also Chiang Mai is one of my all time favorite cities. Super chill!
Really appreciate the strategy and philosophical aspects of your videos. For the guy who doesn't play like Mo, it really does lead to improvements, and most importantly, more fun on the course.
Another enjoyable video. A little different seeing you struggle in the last few videos, but it’s a good reminder that we all have good days and bad, strengths and weaknesses, and need to play our own game like a baus. Looking forward to the next one playa
Your comments at the end of this video about looking for more to conquer are so true. I love the philosophy for life and golf I get from this channel. keep it up playa. love it all. :)
It seems like you hit your driver more straight and consistent when you extend the control in your arms. It’s like that for a lot of golfers, but it’s not seen much.
Thank you brother. I appreciate your wisdom on the topic of playing with lower handicappers. I've been 40 for about 24/hrs and my hcp is 1/2 that but I too follow what my more adept friends do. Not so safe ... and I knew it deep down but .... Thanks again. Maybe I will be more in tune with my own frequency during my b-day game tomorrow (postponed due to rain). I hope to *Pro* -pelle my game forward and gain *Moe* -mentum, driving my hcp down like a missile going into next season. As always; *much love and respect*
The last bit of this video was very thought provoking. I sometimes wonder if I'm on an endless treadmill of wanting to get "just a bit better." Of course, this is part of my attraction to the game...it is a hobby that I want to hone and enjoy by getting better. But "getting better" means not only improving my scoring but making sure to have fun and relishing the opportunity to spend a few hours outdoors with friends. I could not agree more with the notion of having realistic expectations. For me, the most powerful tool is to not set expectations per hole but have general goals for the whole round.
I dropped my handicap from 14 to 9 this year and I can feel those last sentences so hard Matt... I've forgotten the journey and haven't appreciated what I've done so far, all I want to do is keep going... need to pace myself and my expectations as well.
Any club that I do not have 90% confidence in has come out of the bag. The 5W and 60* are on the shelf for a while. playing a par 90 approach has me in the high 80s. Whenever I think that I need to hit hard, I back off and change clubs. Thinking like a Playa!
Drive on number 16 great. I think that’s why playing with better players than yourself is so beneficial. There game bleeds over into your game on subconscious level. Just my opinion. Peace bro Thank you for all the helpful videos
Great point about playing the game that’s best for you - I play with guys whose long games are better than mine, albeit we are pretty equal overall once short games factored in - mental note to self re long game, thx👍
What is that move he is practicing before every shot? Looks like he's working on covering the ball or tilt or maybe extension? Mo has tree trunks for legs, I be that is a large reason he drives it so well tbh. The biggest thing I noticed is he can play driver every hole because he is so accurate with it where as you have to sometimes use 2i. That and he is always leaving himself a putt on the correct side of the hole.
I got alot better when I starting using logic instead of ego.....playing to my strengths and not weakness (tho still working on weakness)..... Once I broke 80 I almost never went back to 80s, golf is in the mind mostly, course management, and short game! ......if you don't have a short game GET ONE!
Tee shots really killing me lately, when I can get off the tee I can break 80 but anymore I’ve put something in my swing and I’m embarrassed to say I top my driver. Nothing worse than a par 4 teeing up hitting it 50 yards in front of you to reach the green in 3.
Great video bro, if there is one thing that I can add to help u out with ur swing is that if u look at the thumbnail picture, your shoulder is too flat in your backswing compare to Mo's and many more top bros. Keep up with the videos, I'll keep watching
So bro i love you content and have been watching you for a while now and i would like to ask wear you live ? Like you sound South African but i know you aren’t playing in sa.
Playa daddy, king of all playas, life coach that helps with golf too. Please move to Georgia in the us and teach me >.< Also have you golfed Vietnam yet?
You make some good points. I’ll play my round and score better than I ever had. Yet I’m complaining. Couple days later I’m like I played pretty good. I need to accept my fate And enjoy.
With the driver especially Mo keeps his right elbow tucked against his torso on the downswing and has his hips rotate hard through the ball. Maybe a control mechanism worth trying?
Holy crap. The "pros keep the club face square for a long time" just blew my mind. No coach or teacher has ever said that. I am going to have to try that out with my irons and see if the consistency changes cause I struggle with hitting GIR.
I had an instructor some 20+ years ago who would have me lay a tee on the ground a full foot out in front of the ball, on the target line...and tell me to hit the tee. In my mind, after the ball was hit, I thought the club would have to come back inside on its arc and miss the tee, or at the least raise up off the ground (in the air) after the ball and miss the tee. When I figured it out, I could hit the ball and the tee in one motion, resulting in very pure ball direction. I couldn't believe it at the time. I haven't thought about that in a long time.
How liberating it must be to be able to just smash it off the tee without a care. You were both doing that but Mo's drive over the water on the 11th was off the scale.

Mo is insane with the driver. So consistent
Yes
I am most impressed with his accuracy of the tee
His bad shots off the tee seem to just be in the rough and not in the trees
taking my pharmacy law exam today, this was exactly what i needed
Good luck from one pharmacist to a future one.
likewise
Good luck bro
how did you do?

Mo is a swing machine! Love to see him again in the channel!
Going back and watching videos again from a year ago... Is there a more likeable person than Mo? Wadda friend...
I love how the caddy expertly throws the sand down on the divot.
I was born in Thailand but have been in th U.S. since I was a toddler. I so enjoy watching you play these courses. Snuk kab chiwit man ma phrxm kab wan hmdxayu
Love when u get philosophical. You’ve conditioned me like Pavlov’s dogs - I felt ripped off when no birdie music played for Mo on 15.
11:00 eagle music to birdie music transition was smooth AF. Lovely stuff.
What a pity about the incomplete high-five/fist-bump. 😳
The jazzed up tennessee whiskey ish tune always gives a melancholy vibe whilst watching these videos
Mo is a Don, would love to play with him. He would have a big following on the European tour. Hope he gets there.
man I could just listen to the music vibes and crispy iron shots all day.
Matt
One of your best videos. I'm loving the commentary and good golf !
Your videos are getting me thinking in the right direction. Your advise on being a better playing partner for better players is astoundingly right on. I really can't get enough and can't thank you enough man! Also Chiang Mai is one of my all time favorite cities. Super chill!
That shirt is another level

You have the best caddies in the world. I have not seen you introduce them. Or I missed it. Thanks for your videos.
They are squid game escapees
Your comments at the end of this video about looking for more to conquer are so true. I love the philosophy for life and golf I get from this channel. keep it up playa. love it all. :)
Bro, Saffa living in Dubai. Pull in! You have changed my whole game/business life! Keep these kind of videos going!!!
Lovely playa, will get to Dubai one day!
I miss the music u played at 7:40 u barely play it anymore but great videos man keep doing what your doing!!! Ty for all the help!

Loving Pro Mo. Want to get down to scratch - play every day. If you do not play every day then re-set your expectations. Great reality check at 2:35.
Mo is a legend! I'm just tryna break 90 now! Well, even 95 would be nice lol
He cracks the driver so well
Smart and consistent golf, you'll get there playa!
Yup keep practicing. Soon those will be ur bad rounds
Love your videos and narration. I found myself thinking like you this week and it helped
Awesome music editing 🤘😝🤘 Love it, rock and also whatever type of music that other is.
Awesome video thanks 🙏. You guys owned that par 5.

Brutal honesty, awesome!
great style from both of you, diggin the buckets
Great shirt and hat combo playaa
Mo has really been hitting the gym. His thighs are as huge as the numbers on my scorecard^
yet hes hits his 9 iron 130... he knows what hes doing
Drive on number 16 great. I think that’s why playing with better players than yourself is so beneficial. There game bleeds over into your game on subconscious level. Just my opinion.
Peace bro Thank you for all the helpful videos
I almost always hit a knockdown from 125y and in. It makes such a big difference in accuracy.
Very good video. I picked up on some good instruction. Very much appreciated, thank you.
Love the videos - and love the moment at 19:35 where the caddie hands you a practice ball
Best ‘on the course’ videos on You Tube!!!
Damn...Mo is really good, he can shape the ball whatever he wants and control the distance. I wish I can be like Mo someday.
Great point about playing the game that’s best for you - I play with guys whose long games are better than mine, albeit we are pretty equal overall once short games factored in - mental note to self re long game, thx👍
Those green rolled like Velcro, some great chipping throughout, but difficult to get any roll out.
Legendary = Mo's driving consistency
Love watching you guys play.
dunno why I havent seen this before, great video. "what sound does a cow make in Thai?" "Mo." "that´s your name" "yes" class Playa banter.
Hey Matt, which Irons are u playing mate??
greetings from spain fellawwwww
What kind of driver does Mo play - I love the sound of his ball strike gives me goosebumps
I could watch you guys hit knockdowns all day

I HAVE THE puma disc adapt most comfotable golf shoe i have ever had.. i see you do to
Iron strikes sounded awesome .. !
Hard pill to swallow without water. What a line! I have to admit it's a great saying! 😎
The draw on that driver is looking good Matt.
I just come for the fashion show.
I got alot better when I starting using logic instead of ego.....playing to my strengths and not weakness (tho still working on weakness).....

steezy hats. they definitely feel cool wearing those
Mo doing the floss is the best thing about this video
On hole 17 first shot when you drop your club, one of the caddie said " ooh, i almost die". Did the club almost hit her? Nice shot though.
Waddaplaya!!!
Always enjoy your videos! 🤙🏾😎
Great video bro, if there is one thing that I can add to help u out with ur swing is that if u look at the thumbnail picture, your shoulder is too flat in your backswing compare to Mo's and many more top bros. Keep up with the videos, I'll keep watching
That was posed for the thumbnail not a real swing
Haha the high five fist bump grab on eagle putt
i love mo’s floss
So bro i love you content and have been watching you for a while now and i would like to ask wear you live ? Like you sound South African but i know you aren’t playing in sa.
Thank you for the great videos and tips player!
Playa daddy, king of all playas, life coach that helps with golf too. Please move to Georgia in the us and teach me >.< Also have you golfed Vietnam yet?
I would be more than happy to play bogey golf and have the occasional par and rare birdie :) I'm just not there yet :/
At 16:00. When Mo asked about moving the ball left in your stance. Why? Uphill lie?
I have that same gap between PW and 50. 120-125 is my danger ranger.
Got an A wedge. Getting betteR!
I want to play at a club with lady caddies that fill in my divots…man that would cost a fortune in the states. Love the channel.
Americans won't work for less than $50k a year with health and dental plan.
For me a round of golf lasts until my next round of golf, as I find myself still thinking and analysing my shots even when not on the course.
Eagle song is such a treat 🦅
Two best putters alive in Thailand
You make some good points. I’ll play my round and score better than I ever had. Yet I’m complaining. Couple days later I’m like I played pretty good. I need to accept my fate And enjoy.
I don't care if I score poorly, I just hate it when I don't seem to be able to make good contact. And I've shot 79 with bad contact.
Great commentary here!
With the driver especially Mo keeps his right elbow tucked against his torso on the downswing and has his hips rotate hard through the ball. Maybe a control mechanism worth trying?
It's far more detailed with him.
Matt next t-shirt idea... "GOOD SHOT GURRL!!"
Who is doing the voice over? Great video!
Is there any way to get you to play a round at Pinehurst with Lynyrd Skynyrd playing Freebird in the background?
Fun and informative. Thanks
Hi playa did you get a new camera, the video quality is mesmerizing. Cheers
No sir same iphone for last three years
Finishing with a Dark screen with deep thought.
Big fan of the psychology.
Amazing content as always. What is the course and when do I get to play with you? 😭
Holy crap. The "pros keep the club face square for a long time" just blew my mind. No coach or teacher has ever said that. I am going to have to try that out with my irons and see if the consistency changes cause I struggle with hitting GIR.
It's hard to do if you don't know the basics though man, start with chipping, then move to pitching then to longer shots
@@GolfSidekick Thanks for the advice! Enjoying watching the videos. Keep up the great work!

Eric Cogorno demonstrated this concept very well. You might even find it for free, he offers a lot of tips for free.
wow, amazing how much harder Matt is swinging compared to Mo, maybe there is a lesson in that for all of us?
Makes sense bro,,, keep it up'
@6:57 Mo was saying he hated anything between 68 and ??? What was the other distance??? And why?
5:28 most impressive filled divot I’ve ever seen
How liberating it must be to be able to just smash it off the tee without a care. You were both doing that but Mo's drive over the water on the 11th was off the scale.
The knowledge bomb comes at 9:00 mark. The way of the playa.
12:35 “Toed it to 6 feet, great job 😒” 😂😂😂❤️
