They needed to keep the conference championship games relevant. It's too much money to give up on them and you cannot put teams that play an extra game at a disadvantage
Nobody is looking at this from how it was supposed to be from the thought of a 12 team playoff. A 12 team playoff was supposed to be the higher ranked teams usually the big ten and sec getting home games against lower ranked teams from other conferences getting in. The problem is that sec teams have lost too many games and the big ten top teams haven't. So now you have the top big ten teams playing the top sec teams. If georgia and bama had only lost q game each this year this video would be irrelevant
SEC needs to stop whinning, there are many teams in the 4 team playoff era that were left out over mediocre SEC teams, SEC only plays 8 conference games with an extra FCS filler, while other conferences play a full 9 conference games with power conference teams
SeC and Big10 making their own playoff is dumb. As SEC Homer I like those smaller teams getting a shot. I believe 1 in 5 years we could end up with a " less deserving conf team" getting to semi finals. Those types of seasons can transform a conference and team. If you lose 3 games your chances should be very slim. Ie. UGA loses 3 wouldn't have been the same as say Texas or Ole Miss losing 3. Why? UGA would have lost 3 to top 15 teams. Whereas Bama, Ole Miss , USC. LOST to horrible teams. If we really want to have SEC and Big10 getting their "earned/ perceived " dominance then we need to go to 24 teams. 6 auto from both. 2 from ACC Big12. 6 or 7 at large and 1 or 2 g5 teams. Either expand or create 4 team conf playoffs as the 9th regular season game for each conf to weed out going a full season with unbalanced schedules

Any SEC team would gladly play 9 conference games if they were in the big 10. Top to bottom you will never find as much blue chip talent anywhere else. 8 of the top 25 teams in the country are from the SEC and even the unranked ones like Florida, LSU and Kentucky are still dangerous. There is no conference where the lower half could still beat you on any given Saturday with sheer amount of talent they possess.
You can’t say Georgia this year has a better chance at winning the natty over Oregon. That’s where the homer comes from. And btw, the last 3 years has NOTHING to do with 2024, so yes Aaron is just a homer with his Georgia analysis
