Hi Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕 hope you’re both doing well today!
What another epic video from The BEST spider/tarantula and other Beasties Channel out there…
That was a very interesting pairing between two prime examples of Funnel Web Spiders 🕷🕷
This was a very, dare I just say Romantic encounter 🥰🥰 And it was so nice to let him see his days out with the female. Also to take him to the Festival to get him immortalised, so you’ll always have him 🥰🕷
Fingers crossed that you’ll have a viable egg sac 🤞🤞🤞
Thanks again Dave and Camera Lady 💙💕🥰xxxx

Fab pairing! The Japanese Funnel Web is a very impressive looking spider, and very different from the tarantulas in many ways. Her red fangs are extraordinary - what a brave chap he is!
It's a measure of the great keepers you are that you take so much time to observe and learn from their natural behaviours, then adjust your methods accordingly. That way they - and you - get the smoothest possible interactions. And hopefully in this case, a fruitful end result in the form of a healthy egg sac. Fingers crossed!
I didn't realise I was a fan of arachnids till I watched DAVE'S LITTLE BEASTIES! Cheers Dave and Camera Lady, sterling work as always! 💖🕷🕸💖🕷🕸💖🕷🕸💖🕷🕸💖🕷🕸💖

Dave, that was fascinating, I find it so exciting that you're sharing your learning experience with us regarding this species.. You've previously stated that there's practically no info about them which is why I feel like I'm witnessing ground breaking footage in the science of these awesome spiders... You said you weren't sure if he was uncomfortable or if this is courtship... I'd like to say, I think you know how to provide comfortable homes for your beasties, so I do believe we're seeing courtship, but wow, talk about breathtaking... Awesome photography, narration and very entertaining, half hour seemed like 10 minutes...
I think you are making ground breaking footage and information, future keepers will have so much owing to Dave's little Beasties... Thankyou for another brilliant episode of the Macrothele Gigas saga...(how are the Phago's coming along?)

You can actually briefly see her in the reflection of some enclosures in the videos and in the video where they re-arranged the Beastie Room, you can get a good look at her as well! Dave has said to me many times though that she is quite shy. He has told me before that if she notices her reflection in the enclosures that she convinces Dave to redo that clip. But when she shows herself, the fans will be happy. At this point, Camera Lady is almost as famous if not more than Dave.

He was trying to be a "gentleman" because he didn't want to be invited to dinner; him being the " main course," because at the end, he knew it was time to go! She let him know to "hit the bricks, buddy!
I don't know anything about these particular spiders, so it was a learning experience for me.
As far as being bitten by Tarantulas, I was holding a Tuscan Blonde once and although I made no sudden movement and she bit me right on my open palm. The pain wasn't too bad, but I never picked her up again. The only other time I was bitten was when 2 of my 6 Chilean Rose Tarantulas got into the same enclosure and began fighting! I tried to separate them and unfortunately one bit me right on my finger! Good thing that was it! It was a custom made aquarium, but it just wasn't as secure as I thought it should be and 1 got through a slight opening in the top and into the other which was supposed to hold 4 separate spiders in a 20 gallon long tank.😮 But I managed to save them both, one with liquid bandage applied to the top of her abdomen and both lived a total of 18 years after that encounter back in 1988! They were my 1rst 2 Tarantulas I ever bought. The Tucson Blonde, I bought about 1991.

Wow, I enjoyed your wee story there 😮
I didny even think tarantulas were in the UK in 1988.
So you had 4 spiders 😮is that right ??
And after u got bitten first time u were ok?? A poisonous 🕷 as well!?
Then u got bitten again when one spider 🕷 managed to get into another spiders enclosure? You separated 2 spiders when they fought!? So you got bit when u pulled them apart ? And then - you used bandage on hurt spider ?? Is that right?? How 🤔 ❓ was it to stop blood from a bite?? Sorry I've no common sense, I need things thoroughly explained to me..😮
And what kind bit u again?? All same kind spiders? Dave has every kind of spider so he's probably got ur kind too......18 years lifespans aswell 😮 My God Almighty - u must've really cared good for them...plus I think Dave said the men die quicker than the women. So was it women u had?? Or did u breed yours??
I've no spiders. I was quite feart by them, then I came across Dave's channel by chance last year and I'm a bit more chilled and I've been able to catch a couple and release out the windy. I canny believe how popular the hobby is. I never imagined that so many folks would keep spiders - however I think it's so cool 😎
I hope u get this reply !! as some reply comments on RUclips I don't receive notifications for.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I saw them pair twice (before he started cleaning himself). It was very clear. He first inserted the left, then the right, before he pulled back. Back to the show... Another insertion, both peti’s, more cleaning... Okay, so I saw the initial pairing with both peti’s, then the second insertion with both, then she had enough. So, I think it was a good pairing. Hopefully, she doesn’t molt out this time, but they seem to know when they have the best chance of raising their young, as most animals do. Maybe try keeping the flow of food going, along with done moisture, to now make the conditions prime for young; plentiful food & prime conditions. Fingers crossed. Much love, Shelbie =) xo 🥰 Take a close look & you’ll see that first pairing.

I also don't mind daddy long legs, I am only afraid of specific looking spiders because we have black widows and brown recluses in our part of the US. The black jumping spiders freak me out as well. Hey Dave!
Sorry for the late comment, didn`t get a chance to watch until yesterday at work on my lunch break (i was like, you know what? I`m gonna watch Dave`s video), just getting to my laptop now to write you a comment.
Great video! Honestly Dave, the pairing videos have grown on me. they used to be my least favourite video ah what`s the word i`m looking for... category, we`ll go with that. ut now, honestly, they`re my favourite videos that you post, so interesting to watch! I knew basically nothing about the body parts and anatomy of the spider about a year or two ago. If you would`ve asked me how they eat, where the emboli is, where the pedipalps is, i would have looked at you and been like: You ok bud? Do you speak another language. But, thanks to you Dave, i know basically every part of the spider and lots of cool facts about them. Thanks Dave! Then of course, you have my grandmother, from time to time i watch your videos with her and every single time, she says: Yuck! He has these monster devils in his house? What if there`s an earthquake? This guy is stupid. And i`m like: Nana, Dave has been doing this for decades, he knows what he`s doing! And i try to explain everything to her but i might as well explain your channel to a rock lol. Oh well, can`t say i didn`t try right?
Very interesting pairing, hard to believe the video is 36 minutes. The paring went by so fast! Maybe it`s because i seldom check how much time is left in a video i`m watching. But, every time i turn on your videos Dave, i CAN`T turn it off, it`s addicting and i`m hooked from the moment you start talking, you have a certain touch Dave, i`ll give you that. Very interesting how much calmer the female was this time around. unfortunate the male passed in the end but at least he served his purpose if you will, hopefully we`ll get an egg sac but only time will give us the answer.
I love your commentary in the pairing videos, Dave. Very calming to listen to and sometimes it makes me laugh, which i really need some days, especially dealing with druggies and Karens (if you catch my drift) at work, you`d be surprised how many of those i get. But my town is very sketchy, and i get the evening shift a lot and most of the time, i`m alone outside at night, every sound makes me whirr around, keeps me alert if you will. There are some seriously sketchy people in my town and honestly Dave, it`s scary and i sometimes find myself to be scared once the sun goes down.
Great video Dave, i hope you, The Beasties and Camera Lady are well, do reply and i will see you shortly, seeing as it`s 12:38AM and in my time-zone, your videos come out at 1:00AM.
    Much love from Ontario, Canada!🙂👍👍👊

Brilliant video! I really appreciate the patience you're giving the process compared to some other channels I've seen that rush it, presumably to get the content they need.

Recovering from a bout of bronchitis and what do I decide to do? Watch Spider sex. RUclips algorithms can be quite crazy lol but I am glad I found your channel. I love all wild life, but some is best observed behind a computer screen! :)

An favourite spider. Macrotheles are great! I have heard that they have pretty strong venom. The whole genus have mote or less potent potent venom. I dont remember if they are within the Dipluridae family, but Dipluridae has venom that are not to be trifle with

It looked like two inseminations on that vid. Before the first time he cleaned his emboli looked like he pulled her in slightly. Hopefully you get a successful pairing this time it's obvious how much work and care you put into this stuff. Methodical and studious.

Wonderful video, as always! Dave, some time ago you unboxed a New Zealand Porrhothele. I was very excited to see this, because here in New Zealand this is literally the only large spider we can legally keep, and little is known about their husbandry and breeding. How are these spiders doing for you? Would love to see some videos about keeping and breeding these - your wisdom would be a huge help to the small group of people trying to keep these spiders here.
