I agree with the first lesson on a level that you can’t even imagine. Doing free work can really give you tons of possibilities - ofc you don’t have to be used by a client
Hook was superb, loved the pacing of the video. I usually space out during talking heads, but was engaged the entire time. crushed it brotha. lesson #2 is the best piece of advice in this video. Boundaries prevent so many issues.
We are so back. It's cool to say that I've watched you learn some of these lessons through trial and error over the last few years :) Glad to see you back posting on RUclips brother!
I appreciate the authenticity of your content Kyle, both here and on IG. Thanks for dropping some gems for those of us who are getting our start. What I like most about your editing style is that it feels good to watch your videos. The editing choices come off as very intentional which holds attention without feeling like it’s begging for it. It’s just refreshing to be reminded that high quality editing doesn’t require a constant onslaught of stimulation tricks.
Thank you so much John! Always tried to keep things intentional and tasteful, in a digital landscape full of those stimulation tricks, simplicity actually becomes the way you stand out
As a content creator that does everything on their own, do you think that stepping up the editing (as in “not getting complacent”) might really help in reaching out more people? As in “better editing” necessarily equals more reach (I’ve seen videos with just an amazing message that got tons of reach)
It definitely applies more from a freelance perspective, where having the ability to create a wide range of content at a high level comes in useful. For your own content, not so much, especially if you’re on a tight schedule, message alone can be enough. Don’t over think it
