The magic of Pro Tools and AAX plug-ins. Plus I did have to layer this with a heavily filtered version (pass filtered essentially all of the bass-mid range in the track cutting mostly the recorded instruments) of a Puppies Demo to get Les Claypool's vocals in the mix. It's like 90% a tone I tweaked in the VST from listening to several live instances of this song mixed with the layered and filtered track I used to have the vocals in the mix. I've been involved with recording engineering for almost 2 decades now, so I've had a lot of practice, especially now that applications for recording are so ridiculously smart compared to what I started out on with cheap analog and digital 8 tracks. Things I could only imagine of doing when I was young and just starting out are now completely possible with AI, programming, and other advancements with Digital Audio work.
Damn, that tone is studio quality 👌
