As a UX Designer I'll tell you, don't focus too much on the problem that you think your not artistically talented enough. Don't let that drag you down. It's actually a skill everyone can learn. Working with several teams within agencies aswell as a freelancer I can guarantee you designers are not creatively great at any artistic skill, but rather focused on a few. Some may be great at drawing, but bad at digital design. Some may be great in digital design, but draw the most messed up quick sketches on boards, especially in team workshops that becomes clear. The thing is all design skills follow a certain process. Hey! Just seeing that you've gone to a lot of effort here and a lot of people are looking to replicate this (and as someone who's interviewed for design roles) I thought I would add some feedback here. There were three things that stood out to me as red flags and the first one is lack of problem discovery. It went from a compelling anecdote straight to desk research. It would have instilled a lot more confidence in the whole presentation if you were able to show how a more crude version of the problem (e.g. we need to make college students have as much success in their academic goals as their personal goals) could be transformed and better reframed by running a problem discovery effort that outlines the assumptions, generates the root cause questions, synthesises research responses into insights and defining upfront success metrics. I felt I needed reassurance that the anecdote was based in a wider reality. I was left wondering, even if this is an actual problem, what is the size of the market here really and even if it's big enough for us to solve, would they even pay for a solution? This leads to the second gap - no ideation process shown. Once you had the problem statement and converted it to a HMW, there was no process shown on how that HMW question launched an ideation workshop of some sort. Instead it went straight to testing ideas but in reality the ideas that were prototyped should have been shown to come from rank ordering ideas from a prior ideation session. You've done a fantastic presentation and breakdown overall for your main project as well as showcasing the how-to on putting it together. Showing how to be more efficient by recycling your project files for web and presentation formatting is incredibly useful for not only aspiring UX/UI designers, but is something that as a junior graphic designer myself I find I can always improve on as time is money in our respective work areas. Demonstrating how you set up for a live interview/presentation by keeping your main slideshow in the middle with a normal dialogue script nearby helped me to better understand how you were able to come off so naturally throughout the video and really invoked a sense of ease and professionalism throughout. Excellent work!

As a newbie never attend any interview before, I am definitely freaking out about my first call interview, but after watching the video I have more hints to prepare my presentation, thanks, Sharon!
Wow this is incredible!!! WTF. WOW. Another level of brilliance. And funny story about your name; There's something I always joke about as the curse of the Sharons because ever since I was in primary school I was always coming second to girls named Sharon in my classes! That's primary, middle, high school, university although finally in uni I finally bested that one and got the much coveted internship hahaha. Almost feels sad that I've grown up and there are no more tests and structures like school. You were both inspirational and a welcome throwback to keep aiming high. You have a new follower!
This is very cool, I just switched to UX Team (from MFG engineering, I know it's wild) at my company recently and they speak about a lot of ideas that you have mentioned here. I did a presentation in the fist few months when I began and seeing this definitely showed me what I could do better. Kudos and keep it up!

Fantastic work Sharon! Thank you for posting this well crafted out presentation. Its tremendously helpful for me as I put together my portfolio presentation for Product Design role. Hope you keep creating these videos!
Hey Sharon! I appreciate the time and dedication you took for this video. I also like the details you gave about the thought process of your work. This video has given me a good real-life understanding of how a UX portfolio presentation works, so thank you. I'm definitely less anxious about future presentations and interviews.
As a junior ux designer I am keen at understanding how to design better case studies. Just to think out loud what was running on my mind while your presentation: 1. The pain point is relatable. We all can never stike a balance between work and college. I personally think an app can't solve this problem. But hmmm did she achive this? What's her story? 2. Secondary research is a critical starting point. In some projects that alone becomes the source of truth if you have constraints like not getting access to real users. I liked that you held the right issue. That is a behavioural problems. So ideally your solution shaped towards altering the behavior. 3. I lost my focus after this. Waiting to listen what were stories from your participants. They are interesting as most of other steps on the way are very common like empathy mapping, user journey etc. 4. Where are the outputs? The visual elements looks simple and on point. Shows you know your craft well. 5. Did you show the versions to your users? How did they adapt? 🎉🎉 Very clean presentation.
Wow, great work! I'm enrolled in a bootcamp as a UX/UI student and I really admire how thought out your process is. Your work is exemplary. Congratulations, and thank you for the helpful tips✊🏼👏🏼

Third is a couple of eyebrow raisers. The design system that was shown wasn't a design system. Design systems are more like self service guides to help devs and designers be enabled to make the right decision within their job. Even if it was, creating a design system is questionable for such a small bespoke project so calls judgement into question. If it were a platform then it'd seem a more appropriate use of an employers money. Other half is a simple one but one you gotta sort out... spelling error in a header with 'competitive'. We all do it so there's grace for it but when it's so prominent, seems like attention to details wasn't given.
Well articulated and delivered so all that's in the bag, highly desirable and obviously has worked for you :)

Wish I could like this a million times! This is great, congrats!
Thank you! :-)
LOL that’s a funny story 😂 thanks for your support!! Took a break but will be back very soon.
This was so interesting and helpful! Girl, YES! You've got this and you've inspired me! Thank you for sharing!
Well done, this also reminds me why I love UX Design so much.
This is very cool, I just switched to UX Team (from MFG engineering, I know it's wild) at my company recently and they speak about a lot of ideas that you have mentioned here. I did a presentation in the fist few months when I began and seeing this definitely showed me what I could do better. Kudos and keep it up!
Thank you Parth! :-)))
Your 1st project is soo cool and timely! I'm sure many can relate

I am looking into this career and I am pleased to see how interchangeable my skills from my psychology/neuroscience degree are. Specifically, in terms of the research, analytical, and the statistical aspect. I look forward to hearing more about you and you just earned a new subscriber!

Glad to hear that :)
As a junior ux designer I am keen at understanding how to design better case studies. Just to think out loud what was running on my mind while your presentation:
Thank you for this I am doing ny research and learning more and more about UX design
