The rocket plane rework honestly made rocket planes useless in TX
Correct me if I'm wrong, but these seem to be pretty good at harassing enemy CVs with damage. Their reasonably high alphas, long attack range, and single-use squadrons mean that the enemy auto-fighters won't get much of a chance to lock on and chew up your planes for the trouble. This is ofc ignoring that the planes are pretty slow so going for a CV (i.e. sniping them early) is probably a waste of time and effort.
You can only do that up to tier 6, because remember the aa accuracy on cv is %100 , and tier 8 above will shred youre planes, maybe except the tier 8 ijn.
@@mikkodoria4778 Not true. The skips on Chkalov and Nakhimov are ~6km and accurate at that range. They're reliable at efficiently harassing CVs without major losses. So any ship will have enough time to ask their CV to put fighters or call by themselves, or just prepare their AA range. If you are new player i don't recommend you those CV's.
you really don’t need the squadron hp because you only have one drop. AA is designed in a way to prevent oder deter any 2nd, 3rd and 4th drop. That's the thing. Both Chkalov and Nakhimov have an extra skip which puts them right around 6km max skip. RU CVs are pretty weak IMO. Toptier, why putting water on the mills of the "CV OP" crybabies? Hitting standing ships without AA is unrealistic. Even Bots use sector prio now, and they dodge not only with rudder, but with stopping and accelerating. Try to hit a human played Huanghe with Serow that hard or just a DD with the rockets, with luck you´ll score 1 - 3 hits and lose some planes before the drop. Played Serow last evening in cw and it is not the easy way with her. There are 2 Huanghe, they have smoke all the time and with a DD as spotter they shoot down many planes before the drop. The problem is not outplaying the bursts, just the pure DPM that can´t be avoided. I had the "pleasure" to lose 1 rocket plane to a Hatsuharu by just spotting her for 2 or 3 seconds. Torps are slow and have a very long time before the warheads are ready, so they´re easy to dodge and most time only 1 or 2 will hit. My average damage output was a little higher compared to Weser or Furious, my spotting damage a little less. But my team said they´ve noticed no difference in their gameplay between Weser and Serow. I noticed that Serow is easier to deplane compared to Weser because there´s no pre-drop possible and Serow has slower and lower HP planes. So telling someone who has to angle to survive to turn into the coming skip bombers really isn't useful because this gives them the choice of being ciradelled by enemy BBs for like 30k dmg or staying angled and taking the 6 skip bombs for 15k dmg + triple fire
Try a single, fully armed Cleveland Bot with your tier 8 soviets, after that, tell us how OP Cleveland AA is 😂
