Absolutely the best most authoritative explanation of the physics and physiology of shockwave therapy. Most videos are completely unprofessional. Would have appreciated her recomnendation comparing different machines. Great job.
Maam. This is the best comprehensive explanation I've found so far on the internet addressing so many different health conditions that would prevent shockwave treatments. But since the patients questionable other comorbidities aren't usually at or near the specific joint, muscle, tendon or ligament injury sites couldn't they still receive treatment?
If we do the treatment for second time after a weak,do we also expect the same metabolic reaction again like pain exacerbation swelling macrophages attack again?
Excellent presentation covering many aspects of Shockwave Therapy. I've listened to many others that sound more like a infomercial as opposed to a complete description and explanation. Tried more conventional Plantar Fasciitis therapies that did nothing to resolve pain or P.F. tension. including I.F.on shin muscles, Myofascial Release and foot orthotics.
Currently in process. Just finished 5th session with S.W.. Can be painful on the higher settings especially when plantar is fully stretched as in toes pulled back during procedure and if a tender area such as a fibroid is present in the fascia.
I see, thank you for the reply. I battled plantar fasc for 3 years, the first year was hell, especially as a hospital prof ( the hard floor and long hours) . What worked best was Asics Gel Cumulus 19 and PRP injection, which hurts more than cortisone injection, but PRP cures!! 70% better after 1. I stretch calves and roll my feet before I stand after resting. Fall asleep with ice wrapped around feet too sometimes, never go to sleep with ones feet hurting or hot, ICE!! I have remained 70% better after 2 years since the PRP injection. If I could do over, I would have taken the cortisone injection to quickly get rid of the inflammation vs motrin 800 mg BID, and taken/rested off work for 3 months, then did physical therapy and PRP injection. anyhow, stretch your calves and roll your feet on raquet ball or ice bottle 20 -30x per day, calve and Achilles tightness is a huge part of it, the feet are just the symptom, if you can lose even 5 lbs from your current weight helps too. all the best
Fibroid appears to be shrinking. Next session will involve some Graston techniques between the next set of S.W. therapy. I am also stretching my glute and other muscles etc on my own between sessions. Not for the faint of heart as there is pain with these techniques.
I have not used the shockwave for my knees yet. For my knees a hyaluronic acid 200mg, Astaxanthin 12mg may have helped. The pain was reduced 90% within 2-weeks. It took about 6 months before I begin to regain almost full range of motion and go up and down the stairs fast with confidence. I also used $40 TENS device from amazon once or twice on the knee. I think this may have also helped.
Did three shockwave sessions in the course of two months for my tennis elbow, but am still not completely healed…my fourth session is due soon and the doctor had suggested surgery if I still am unable to heal, is it advisable?

Really enjoyed this video and the explanation was the best I have seen on this kind of treatment 😀
Thank you Larry. Glad you came across it :)
Great explanations! I felt like I was in school again...except you are more concise! Does your clinic also use Focused SWT?
Could you try shock waves with a plate and screws in the ankle,???
