Important note that STR != physical and INT != magical. That will be hard to untangle for lots of players!
So what do they represent in smite 2?
...yeah... which I suppose means magic dealers will need magic pen, even if you want a str build.

Will the attributes of the gods in Smite 1 differ in Smite 2?
What about the items we buy inside Alchemy?
What about the gods that you collected in Samayet 1? Will they be transferred to Samayet 2?
So even if you're building strength, it contributes/converts into your magical damage auto's?
depending on the god, but yea. like right now the scaling is 100% str stat plus 20% of int stat. but the auto attack can still do either physical or magical damage.
Int or Str don't directly translate to magical or physical damage. Some abilities deal magical damage and some deal physical. Some abilities scale with Int, and some scale with Str. These have nothing, strictly speaking, to do with each other.

The magical pen is really confusing to me. If I was building sol strength auto attack you would think I would build strength pen for my autos. I don’t understand the magical pen
There is no strength pen. It's Physical pen. Characters do Magical or Physical damage. Then those damage types scale with either strength or intelligence or a combination. Sol does magical damage with her basic attacks, but it scales with 100% strength and 20% intelligence. So building strength increases basic attack damage, but it still does magical damage, so she needs magical pen.
You just have to look at the damage type of each character ability and which stat it scales from. It's going to take some getting used to for sure

Olorun could already crit though…
@MrProdigy810 like idk if his passive even means much with how much better strength crit items (including bloodforge and the rest of strength adc items) are than rings on smite 1.
eh freya and ao kuang scale off of their ability damage not auto damage, so crit won't be fantastic on them

I got a feeling that those over-exaggerated effects will be this games undoing.
People thinking they hit something while they only hit them with visual effect.
It makes for fairly poor gameplay feedback
