I remember Roger Ebert said that it was homophobic because of the yearning for vengance felt so many years later. What a completely clueless remark. It was a great movie and it only gets better with time.
I read the book in 1996 and watched the movie that year too when it came out. I love it-even have a channel here of film coverage and also started an Instagram account for it. Such an underrated film! I’m so glad you reviewed it and that you liked it.
I remember seeing some of the movie like the lunchroom scene with my mom but at 13 I saw the the movie by myself and I was afraid to sleep at night and kept the tv on then watched it a couple more times and wasn't afraid anymore it's one of my favorite movies glad more people are finding out about this movie
Ivd always been confused as to why almost nobody has ever heard of this movie. Lorenzo Carcatera is a great writer. He wrote some of the most interesting episodes of the original Law and Order and some great books. The cast is unbelievable.
I saw sleepers in the Theater back when it came out and it is easily one of the top most memorable and hard hitting movie I have ever seen! The emotional turmoil and anger that, still to this day, hit me is almost one of a kind.
You have said everything about this movie perfectly. This was a must have for my collection and yes it is a hard watch but so amazingly well done and executed! Excellent review!
Watched it with the wife since her friend adviced it and holy moly, what an amazing movie, yes the story so painful but it was done so well. It is a must watch
I remember going to watch this movie in the cinema, I paid just as much for this movie's ticket as I did for Twister, and Titanic and all other "Epic" movies released back then. Yet, this one stuck with me. This is an epic movie in its own right. Great story, great cast. Can't ask for more.
Me and my little brother saw this movie way back in 1997 and what happened to them boys was just devastating but I love the way they got their revenge ESPECIALLY THE SCENE When Rizzo's Brother Lil Ceaser Gets REVENGE. He knew and we all knew Rizzo didn't die from no damn pneumonia.
My father who unfortunately has passed away a long time ago used to record movies for us to watch we had an impressive collection of over 400 recorded VHS tapes. During my high school years Sleepers was one of my favorite movies that I watched a lot and always go back to onto my adulthood ... Very impressive review
This is a fantastic review/analysis of Sleepers. I admit I haven't seen this movie in over a decade at the least. Fun fact, I saw this movie (not for the first time) when I was locked up at a detention center as a juvenile! Though it was like living in a kids daycare.. even moreso compared to wherever these kids were locked up at. Anyways, I agree that Sleepers is a truly underwatched movie. One of those 90's artifacts that hopefully newer generations will sometime watch. I do think that the dark subject matter is what keeps it from being mentioned as one of the greatest movies of its time. Alas, good stuff, thanks for the vid
It's on Max. Just finished it. This movie is a masterpiece! Kevin Bacon is truly reprehensible as a character. Dustin Hoffman gave a subtle, underrated performance. Robert Dinero won my heart in this role. He was 10 toes down for those boys til the end! I cried all through the movie. And OMG, Brad Renfro! 💔

the church desperately needs more priests like Father Bobby
AND LESS RAPISTS!

That's awesome, I'll have to check both out! Thanks for watching my friend!

For sure! It's definitely one worth watching. Easily one of the most overlooked movies ever made
It was an absolute gem of a movie. I watched it once day as it was on Netflix and, wow, I couldn't believe I had never before of it.
This movie is a real sleeper. Very underrated film.
Agreed!!

A stacked cast and stellar writing with some great performances. Very highly underrated.
More people need to know about it

It's one of the deepest movies I've seen. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Brad Pitt is in another masterpiece many people haven’t watched - True Romance (the guy on the couch)
I have watched this movie a number of times now and really find it grabs me everytime...very well made on such a difficult topic.
Completely agree!
I would carefully recommend this movie. I would make sure they know what they're getting into.
Absolutely...
I saw this movie when it first came out. It has affected me till this day. It reminds us how a wrong decision could haunt you. 😢.

Thanks dude! Love this movie too

100% agreed, glad we feel the same about this one

Thanks man! Wish I found this gem as early as you did in life
@@cinemawithsven You are welcome bro. I was surprised to find out that it wasn't a success even with such an impressive cast.
Kevin bacon was crazy in this movie
A true scumbag. He got off easy.

Possibly the most overlooked movie of the 90s. Thanks so much for watching!
One of my favourite movies
Same here! Thanks for watching!
@@cinemawithsven I think everyone should at least see this one

For sure, loved every aspect of this movie and its performances. Thanks for watching!!
Same. Just watched it for the first time on HBO. Good movie. Sad af though.
The movie wasn't given the accolades because of the subject matter. I bet the Vatican had a lot to say about the film too.
Absolute top drawer movie, definitely in my top 20, can't believe how under-reacted to this film is, baffling.
It deserves so much more love! Not sure how it became so overlooked in recent years
@@cinemawithsven can only think that the subject matter may prove a little uncomfortable for some. Beyond that, a real mystery.
It had big name actors at the time, like Brad Pitt and Deniro, but actors that have gotten big since then, like Billy Crudup and Wendell Pierce.
My favorite movie.
Great review. Can you review One fine day (1996)
For sure I will check it out, thanks man!
Great review and great movie. I just showed my daughter this movie two weeks ago
Jason Patrick is in The Lost Boys which is such a good vampire movie and I recommend you to watch it if you haven't.
Haven’t seen it but I will absolutely add it to my watchlist!
Thank you ,Please review Out of Sight (1998).
I can check it out, thanks dude!
The movie is so great.
That movie was like underrated
Great film! Hard to watch but a awesome movie never the less.
Do you like the movie Armageddon
You've never seen Jason Patric in The Lost Boys?
Never
hey have you seen the movie battleship from 2012 and do you like that movie
I have not but heard some interesting things about it
@@cinemawithsven you should watch it and review it its awesome
Thought it dragged a bit in the second half but still an interesting film.
Definitely has its ups and downs but recall this being a great movie overall
Throwback!
Heck yeah! Great movie man
Moving movie, raising awareness of children sexual abuse.
100%, one of the best of the 90s
This is a great movie
Great movie
100% I loved it
@@cinemawithsven I was banned to watch this with my family until last year
Great movie! I own a copy!
I'll have to get one of my own!
