To be fair, what you forgot about the Jeff Gordon thing is that David Gilliland ended up letting Logano pass him so he could get in the top 10 in points, which would have knocked Gordon out. Gordon being added in had nothing to do with Truex, it was a reaction to Penske and FRM's shenanigans.

MTJ had 2 separate careers in 1. The 1st decade winning a race for DEI (2007 Dover), MWR (2013 Sonoma), Furniture Row (2015 Pocono and somehow a championship 4 appearance). The 2nd decade Furniture Row switched to Toyota in 2016 with a JGR alliance. 31 wins (still the most since then) with a dominant 2017 championship season. Truly incredible the greatest career resurgence in history.

Bowyer manipulates the race outcome by spinning on his own and damaging no cars: *Team rightfully gets the worst penalties in Nascar history to the point where the team had to shut down in 2 years*
Harvick does the same thing at Talladega in 2015 but also deliberately causes the big one that wrecks the field: *Nascar does absolutely nothing*
I still believe to this day the only reason Nascar didn’t punish Harvick/SHR was to prevent SHR from having the same outcome MWR had. It was alr known by late 2015 those penalties led to MWR shutting down. Still very inconsistent stuff by Nascar

Hopefully it’s one of those Lagano/Blaney style season where he gets hot in September. That said , I think CBell is the next best thing, race style, talent , clean driver, team , etc. You’re one of my fav NASCAR YTers because of your like for MTJ. While EmpLemon got NASCAR back on my radar, it was S1ap's video on Truex that got me slightly invested in the sport. It was what during a business trip to Miami Beach, convinced me to put on the 2019 Coca Cola 600 and watch from flag to flag. The race was a mess, tons of cautions and it wasn't the most stimulating race. You know what WAS stimulating? Having Truex win the race, it's impressive how an outcome can influence one's view of a race, as the next few months would demonstrate
Alex Bowman FINALLY breaking through to get his first win at Chicagoland
Justin Haley with the biggest upset in recent memory at Daytona for Spire
Kurt Busch narrowly outdueling his brother (a person I loathed at the time) at Kentucky
DiBenedetto coming up just short at Bristol right after Leavine announced he'd be let go after the season
Jimmie Johnson's streak in the postseason coming to an end
Clint Bowyer interviewing a fan sitting in the rain sopping wet on live TV (not an outcome, but it did cement him as my favorite driver)
Elliot's incredible rebound at the Roval after smacking the wall into turn 1 and then doing a burnout ON the wall to spite it
Soon enough I'd have diecasts, I went to the 2020 Daytona 500 and planned to go to Atlanta, I began following people like Eric, I was a fan now and still am. And it's due to this guy's story of redemption and he will be missed on Sundays, thanks for everything Truex
