Thank you very much for this video. I recently had to drop the gas tank to fix a 3 foot crack in my rear frame on the driver side to AutoZone to have the code machine hooked up and this all happened after I put the tent back in so I unplug the battery in the code or the dash light stayed off. Thank you though something else I learned about my Toyota I appreciate your time.
@1:09 is the lower hose the one that goes back to the intake manifold? Is that a good place to do a seafoam spray treatment (vs taking off the entire air filter box to get to the throttle body)? Or is it the side hose (right side of the photo) that goes back to the intake manifold?
i have P0440 ( i have already replaced gas cap) reset code and it returned and now it also has P0441/446 as well.,, im thinking purge valve and can sometimes smell gas outside vehicle as if i just finished refueling
At close to 150,000. miles, I began having a few minor problems mechanically. I replaced both the charcoal canister and the purge valve. The purge valve was the culprit, but the Tacoma seemed to run like new after both were changed. If your truck ever seems to have any trouble starting, it probably is also time to change out that starter relay in the fuse box too. My truck has the manual transmission and it has never had any real problems.
Thanks for making this video. I'm chasing a P0441 on a 2006 V6 4Runner. Has a strong smell of fuel vapors by the gas cap. Have replaced the gas cap and purge valve. Didn't fix it. Filled the truck with fuel with the engine running and fuel ran down the fuel filler neck lines. So I thought there was a hole in the filler neck and replaced it. That's when I learned there's a vent up there by the gas cap that appears to come directly from the leak detection pump on the charcoal box. Fuel was pulled through this line and then leaked back down the filler neck lines. Have also heard gurgling noises coming from the fuel cap area when the truck is on. Current gut feeling is the leak detection pump is stuck on or stuck open? Is it even possible for the leak detection pump to get stuck on? Any advice here would be very welcome. Thanks!
Hi very informative video. I have a 2016 Corolla with strong fuel smell coming from AC vent first 1-2 min after being started in morning, the clear normal air. Any idea of what could be the issue?
I just bought a 2004 Sienna xle with 244k miles. The car runs like butter. The only thing after 200 miles of driving a CE light appears I immediately went and got the scan tool 3 codes the One mentioned in this video plus 0442 and 0446 all to with the EVAP components if I'm not mistaken. This car had been sitting for a few months and needed a jump to start. Once started, it only died once when I was fooling with the radio with the key turned to power with the car off, not a good idea. Do you think the codes I'm getting could be from a faulty battery ? The scan tool did mention a side note that my battery reading was a tad bit low like one volt from being a bad battery. I want to replace the battery to see if it helps, and I did experience some loss of power when I was on the freeway. I had been going about 75mph for about 20 minutes before I came into some bumper 2 bumper traffic that lasted about 10 minutes. As the traffic digressed, I felt the van not want to go as I pressed on the gas pedal. The RPM was almost at 4500 before it shifted to the next gear. What are your thoughts on this, and thank you for reading my comment. I appreciate it very much!
It needs to be diagnosed, but if the battery is starting to fail, I would definitely replace it. Vehicles that sit for a while, and not run, often can have problems. I always run a fuel additive to a vehicle that has sat awhile. The EVAP codes shouldn't affect the engine running, unless the purge valve is stuck open. I would clear those codes and see if they return.
Great video subbed & upped ya. Got a 2010 Corolla 65K Miles and a PO441. Based on your video I replaced the purge valve and the gas cap with OEM Toyota parts. Cleared code and a week later it threw the 441 again. Now I smell fuel back by the fill cap area. I'm the only one that fills the gas. Today I will get under there and see what the hoses look like. Hope its not the canister that's a expensive oem part. Btw, where is the PCV valve please I can't seem to locate it on the valve cover. It must not look like the standard pcv valve. Thanks for your help let you know what I find.
I got under the rear of my car today and its a horror show. In addition to the fuel pump and its output there's a large vapor hose that goes to the canister. There's also another small plastic tube coming off the gas tank I found that tube has a small chunk missing out of it. And it is weeping fuel. It is integral to the tank. Only hose that comes with the tank and you cannot buy it by itself. I am pretty screwed. Trying to come up with ways to fix it. It must have had a pin hole which set the P0441. Then got larger to the point I smelled gas at the rear drivers side tire. Its a strange hose with hard plastic disks. Looks like an armored hose. Wish i could post a picture.
Yes, question. I searched online and came across info stating that the purge switch, which is near throttle body under hood in my 2007 Camry 2.4, would have no suction if a specific hose was disconnected while engine is running. Is that true?
