Thank you - another series of gaps in my knowledge filled. It is great to hear that you are getting busier again in the real world.

I would never have imagined how important a tiny little thing like a chrono is. I think I'll not forget to use it again. Thanks for the great vid, as usual, superb!
Another question - unrelated to this video but you reminded me when you switched to TA/RA on the TCAS... so what modes are set in the TCAS and when? I know TA/RA when we get permission for takeoff and travel on runways but do you switch TA upon pushback and taxi, or another mode separately for pushback and then taxi? You may wish to do a video on the TCAS... if not done already.
ATC in the US will usually require mode C (TA) while taxiing, while some European countries will only require mode S (XPDR on, TCAS stby) until takeoff. The TCAS switch on TA/RA will run only on TA while on/close to the ground so setting it on TA or TA/RA while on the ground will do the same.
Always interesting hearing the slight variations to SOPs you guys use. Different strokes for different folks. We just use 1 min warm up time for APU thermal stabilisation. Then we wait a minute before a pack goes on after the Bleed. 3 min engine warm up time / cool down time is now uniform across the fleet. CEO & NEO airframes. No IAE engines to worry about. 😉 I never bother timing the engine start. As you say it’s personal preference. It’s quite obvious if you get a hot start or hung start and ECAM tells you quickly enough. And if they think finding the QRH procedure for a tail pipe fire is “timely” enough instead of it being a memory item, it’s good enough for me. Obviously we’d time it on a manual start as you say. 👍 So many ways to skin a cat at the end of the day.

HD, it would be quite interesting having Gav to provide a vid about timing as well to see the differences.
Thank you so much for this very informative video. I've been a jet aviation fan all of my life, and have watched countless in-the-cockpit videos, and one of the things I could never figure out is why the chrono button is pushed at takeoff. Actually, until I watched this video, I never noticed it being pushed at any other time. Thanks for this great video. I am a new subscriber.
Very interesting explanations, as always! Glad to learn so much on how the 320 is used on daily basis. It brings a lot of color and of sense to the simulation! If I may request, could you explain sometime how to fly the standby part of the approaches (where we are supposed to fly in circles waiting for ATC authorization to carry on)? How to do it manually? How to update the MCDU accordingly ? How to resume the approach afterwards? ..
You are the best! I am always looking forward to seeing your new video I am depressed for quite a while until I find your new upload! And as always you do not let us down! Hope you and your family (especially your lovely cat) are all doing well!
It's interesting that in Europe you start eng 2 first and in the US you start with eng 1. I think it's because in the US single-engine taxi is more common and if you have eng 2 running the PTU will be barking whereas if you have eng 1 running you can turn the electric pump on and it's quiet.
On your Terrain Display switches you have them labeled INOP. I'm running the Dev version from a few days ago and I don't see that. And the TD is working fine as far as I can tell.
MAN YOU HAVE THE BEST VIDEOS FR KEEP GOING ALL OF THEM YOU SHOULD MAKE A VITUAL CLASS WITH DSC AND PEOPLE TEACHING WHAT YOU TEACH THEM IN SHARE COCKPIT AND PDF's
Very interesting, I always thought you left the timer running from takeoff to keep track on the times over certain waypoints in your flightplan. I.e. where you should be at certain times during the flight. take-care /Andy
Excellent guide, same with your entire tutorial list. I recently started flying the Toliss A321 and coming from the Zibo 737 I feel like a little kid inside the Airbus. Everything is so straightforward and well thought, the automation always puts a smile on my face, probably timing is the most manual thing in this bird 😄. Regarding this I have a question, do you time anything after landing? For example, engine cooldown time after thrust reversers are closed? I know that some company SOPs for the 737 will require this but I'm not sure if it's happening on the Buses too. Thanks for all these great tutorials. Your list got me up and running in no time.
Hi! I love your videos! It would be awesome if you could make a tutorial covering the radio stuff like near the pedestal like for eg.. VHF1 and VHF2 and stuff. That would be great!
i noticed with the new update they changed the ways you press on the nobs / to change speed/ directions and altitude can someone tell me how to make it work like before?
Great video, thanks. My VA penalises engine shutdown if the engines have not been allowed to thermally stabilise - which seems to be a couple of minutes too. Do you do similar chrono timing IRL here (thinking if you have a shortish taxi to gate or you are doing a one engine taxi home)
Another great and interesting video 320 Sim Pilot! I was wondering, which Airbus 320 is better (eg more realistic)? The Toliss or the FlyByWire? Thanks!
I find it a bit strange that Airbus have not integrated automatic timers for things like idle engines after startup, takeoff trust time etc. if it’s a requirement, the systems should deal with this automatically.
Prevents the igniters from activating. It allows you to motor the engine either for maintenance or incase of a failed start where you need to expel any leftover fuel/fumes so it can’t be ignited accidentally
Interesting. Someone told me that their airline only pays them based on chronometer time flew. Thought that was sorta unfair since pilots are spending hours planning, programming, walk arounds, etc. Guess it is based on airline. When I sim fly my chronometer starts at pushback and ends at parked. :)
That F-14 pilot probably thought it would be funny to park at a gate like that. Wait till he finds out the airport doesn't have the proper Tow Bar to push him back from the gate. 😎🙄 BTW, yes an F-14 or any military aircraft can land at a commercial airport (and do), but they will park in General Parking or Ramp.
I never imagined that a chronometer video could be so interesting.
24 minutes talking about a simple timer? Perfect!

TA/RA is mode Charlie. In Flight Sims it'll be better if you keep your Transponder to Mode Charlie or TCAS to TA/RA

@@leximoding Ah ok - thanks!
As a passenger, I would be really concerned if there was a F-14 parked on my gate.
Yess. Been wondering this.

Thanks a lot ! Great video as always !

Brilliant video, I can't get enough of these, please keep them coming!
Love your insight so much
Please make video on manual engine start procedure and info on the starter limitation. thanks!
Super interesting, stuff I had any clue about. Thanks for sharing !
Awesome!!! These are exactly the little details that are so hard to find! Thank you!
Only you could go on for nearly half an hour about a *clock* xD
Informative as always, even if I forget to use it all the time!

He is using the experimental version, which has a custom ND with inop radar and weather for now until MSFS has better support.
TD is inop in the experimental version

Question: Does the Airbus do any time logging itself, like engine run time, time off/on, that can be viewed via MCDU?
can you make a video about how to read the simbrief OFP?
Gives airbus pilots something to do during the flight. :P
♡ great video. Learned lots!
Really helpful video. Thanks for posting this!!
Who needs flight schools when we have this channel...!
As usual very interesting. I think I soon have a complete typerating just by watching your videos :-) Thanks.
So interesting! Thanks so much 👍🙏🏻 I’m really enjoying the A320 with your help 👨✈️✈️

Hey, what's that empty grey rectangle, left of lower ECAM ? It is a missing instrument ?
Do you use the chrono for holding patterns or is that done by the mcdu
You can program leg lengths/time on the MCDU
I'd love to go shared cockpit with you on VATSIM one day dude.. your videos are awesome and the amount of people you reply to is unreal..
nice f14 ha great teacher you are sir
I thought u started Engine 1 first, as theres an electric hydrolic pump up top, on engine 2, for taxiing, but not for engine 1??
Very excelent!!! Thank y u so much!
Fantastic informative content as always, Thank you .

Just 1,200 subs away from 50k! What have you got planned, a little bit of Concorde perchance? 😄
Does anyone know how you get that wing view?
Always wondered this
Another great and interesting video 320 Sim Pilot! I was wondering, which Airbus 320 is better (eg more realistic)? The Toliss or the FlyByWire? Thanks!
Lisbon Portugal! Nice. I'm pretty much a Noob on the airbus, but your videos are helping quite a bit! edit: how do you get the cabin view?

Q: Do the LEAPs not have the dual cooling thingamajig? Is it just a Pratt and Whitney thing?
Just P&W
@@tomstravels520 ah! Thanks mate!
hello, I just had a question what does the crank engine mode selector mean ?
Prevents the igniters from activating. It allows you to motor the engine either for maintenance or incase of a failed start where you need to expel any leftover fuel/fumes so it can’t be ignited accidentally
funny to see a fighter jet parked on the next gate
