Fujifilm XF 33mm F1.4 Honest Opinion: Worth Buying Or Switching?

- Welcome to another lens review, this time for the Fujifilm XF 33mm F/1.4 R LM WR. Well, it's mostly my professional opinion more than a full review but I'm sure you'll find good info here.
The lens is a fantastic lens, but will it replace my current Fujifilm 35mm F/2? That's what I talk about here in this video and you need to watch it to find it out.
I have added a few photo samples as well so you can judge the quality of the lens. Even with the RUclips compression, I'm sure they'll come out pretty nice.
All out of camera of course, and with either Provia or Classic Neg film simulation applied in-camera.
You all seem to appreciate my gear reviews, as the success of the 100-400mm video can testify (relative to my small channel) so let me know if this is something you want me to do more frequently.

Really nuce video bud. Just sold my 16mm f1.4 to get this as a trade in and very excited. Going to be a huge difference in focal length but at the same time, I wasn't getting the shots I wanted with such a wide lens

Great vlog Fabien. I'm not sure I'd buy the 33mm lens right now because I have the old 35mm 1.4 but it isn't weather sealed, and I have the 50mm f2 WR so I'm sort of already covering that focal range although I hear that 33mm is a great lens. I'd love a 70mm fuji lens 😮. I have the old 56mm 1.2 but I find the auto focus isn't brill and I don't use it much, I'm also waiting to see if the XT-5 will be released soon and then I'll want a weather sealed lens for that so you never know, I may end get the 33mm lens after all. 😀👍
The 33mm is amazing in every aspect, but it's a tough choice if you already have those lenses. But it's amazing ☺️
The 70mm is a request I ask Fujifilm every time I have the chance and yet still nothing in the roadmap. My favourite lens ever, since my Nikon days, was the Nikkor 105mm f2 with defocus so of course I want that length on Fuji now! ☺️ And hopefully as good a lens as the 90mm. On your 56mm... just wait a few months 😉

I miss a 100mm focal length too, got the laowa 65 manual lens for macro and portraits. It´s a joy so far. Great review and great looking studio :) subbed
Cheers Christian, thanks for your support! Yeah, I honestly don't understand why Fujifilm never even considered this focal length in 10 years of the X series... I keep bringing that up when I meet them (and they never said it won't happen), so let's keep our fingers crossed. Sigma makes a beautiful one for Sony and Canon and now they're stepping into the Fujifilm system, so maybe via a third party... I haven't tried your lens but laowa makes good glass so I'm not surprised you're happy with it 👍🏻
Nice video; I also have a wishlist lens that I'd buy in a heartbeat, and that would be a 135mm f2.0 giving us a 205mm with the 1.52 crop factor.
That's an interesting choice. What would you use a 205mm for?
Hi, I'm a prime lens lover and have the Samyang 135mm but ended up having to purchase the xf 50-140 lens purely for the long end and af; I love this focal length for portraiture, yes communication is a bit shouty but that just adds a bit of comedy to hole thing.

If you don't mind manual lenses, and you used the Samyang so I suppose you don't (even if you purchased the 50-140)... One of my favourite lenses is the Nikon Nikkor 135 f2 DC (the big sister of my hands down all-time favourite lens, the Nikkor 105mm f2 DC) and it can be adapted to Fuji with a third party ring like Metabones. It has a dual focus system so you can focus on your subject then turn a second focus ring to work the background and the lens is pin sharp with lots of character. That's why I keep banging about the 70mm (105mm equivalent), because I used to have that 105mm lens

You are absolutely right. I'm so used to seeing modern cameras with more refined options that I took f1.8 as a full stop in between. My bad
