As a new French Defense player from the Caro-Kann, this variation helps me avoid the double-edged Winawer and the lengthy Classical variations, and puts me on good ground. I did not know that IM Martin made the name!
I thought that was pretty a clear interpretation, that if Black needs that draw, or wants to take it easy, this the variation for him. You inferred otherwise??
I really like your video! I have won many games with the Fort Knox :-) but you got the Neg5 variations wrong: 1.e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. Nd2 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Bd7 5. Nf3 Bc6 6. Neg5 Nd7 is a quite solid variation... after 7. Nxf7 KxNf7 8. Ng5+ Ke8 Mr. Comp says the position is very equal (which is good for black btw :-) ). In your variation with 6. ... Bd6 7. Nxf7 Kxf7 8.Ng5+ Ke8 9. Nxe6 Qh4 white doesnt play 10. Bc4 he plays Bd3 instead and White is better Stockfish gives white ~+1 In the variation 6. Ld3 Nd7 7. Neg5 the best continuation for black is h6 and white has to retreat his knight to e4 if he doesn't want to have a really bad position... If white wants to put his knight on g5 he has to do so in the 6th move and then a very sharp but equal position is created which black shouldnt lose if he plays correctly!
I've always wanted to hear what Michael Cane would be like as a chess coach. :)

I actually used this opening in the Las Vegas International Chess Festival as black, and I won :D

6...Be7 is even better. White can't sac with full comp.
Buenas noches alguien tiene ese tomo subtitulado???

I don't think this variation is great. White gets all the fun. White really cant lose. The Rubinstein just leaves white better.
