    I got really lucky when I booked my first job, but it was probably the most challenging one yet. I got the opportunity to act on stage, but while acting for stage I had to act for the camera as well which was super difficult, since acting for camera and stage are completely different. Luckily the director and the people I worked with were super understanding and it was super fun!

    • @liquidbraino

      ROFL! You can be an actor at ANY age! They need babies to play the character called "A Baby". They need old f**kers like me to play the 50 year old guy with a bald spot and they need people on their death bed (like Sanford Meisner in his last acting job on the show "ER") to play people that are on their death bed.

      @@liquidbraino nevertheless the likely hood of a child watching this and following along is very slim

    • @liquidbraino
      @liquidbraino 2 года назад

      @@henryyancey1117 Well you're right. Most child actors only get into it because their parents paid for their headshots and registered them on casting sites; thinking their child has potential. At least from my experience.
      My best friend wrote and directed a spec commercial with a child actor in it but it was the kids mom that pushed to get him booked on the commercial and the mom was already signed up on the casting sites because she's an actress herself (which is how she saw the casting notice). I thought it was going to be a nightmare because he was just like any other kid, bouncing off the walls with energy. That kid was all over the place until cameras rolled and he absolutely nailed it; was focused and professional then when my best friend said "Cut" he's back to being a kid. I was actually really impressed.

    • @henryyancey1117
      @henryyancey1117 2 года назад +1

      @@liquidbraino oh yea i’m not saying kid actors can’t be good, the kid actor in sixth sense did really amazing, wonderful movie! but the chances that a kid would go out of their way to learn a different accent is slight (unless they’re a big shot then they might take it more seriously)

    • @henryyancey1117
      @henryyancey1117 2 года назад

      i can’t answer the second question for him because i’ve never seen this guy before but being british and having a british accent is definitely something that is interracial, it’s like how any race can have an american accent. look at John Boyega, he’s a black dude with a natural british accent

    Hey I’m an actor moving to Atlanta and I’m from the UK I’ve got all the legal details sorted but getting jobs for commercials would that require me to most likely do an American accent or could I keep my accent

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  2 года назад +1

      the vast majority of roles in the US will want a standard American accent so it will increase your opportunities if you are able to do one. However, you will also get opportunities for British characters in American films and shows so you should also keep your accent for some auditions.

      There is Youth Theatre.
      Where are you in England?
      In London, there is the National Youth Theatre and The Young Vic Youth Theatre.
      Certain that most national theatres in the UK and Eire have youth theatres attached to them.
      Certainly, focus on script interpretation, which means reading scripts, the good, bad or indifferent.
      You are young, read history books and plays and search for youth theatres.
      That will help you more in your career than anything else.
      Trust me.
      I have been in this profession for over forty years.
      Best wishes.

    I want to learn an English accent; Scottish accent; Russian accent; French accent; Australian accent and Texas accent. I need to find a good dialect coach that lives in Los Angeles. I grew up in Texas and had a Texas accent when I was a kid. Then I moved to California when I was nine and got made fun of because of my accent, so I struggled for a whole year to get rid of my Texas accent and now I wish I hadn't because now I can't even fake a Texas accent. I've had to turn down auditions because I couldn't do a believable Texas accent. I'm the ONLY one in my family that doesn't have a Texas accent and I can't even fake it. So now I need to go to a dialect coach to RE-LEARN the accent I already had growing up. Isn't that messed up?
