Devin Townsend is the single most brilliant musician on the planet.
The depth and breadth of his discography is truly staggering.

Hevy Devy is the musical omnicient .... if it were possible to have 2 musical omnicients ... Devin would be both of them.
This is a wild place to begin with Devin's works. He doesn't usually go this hard anymore.
Just a few months after this album was released, he released a solo album called Ocean Machine: Biomech. There's some hints of this style in that album, but it's not an extreme metal album like what City is (Detox is a song from SYL's City album).
For one of his more recent songs that I hold strongly in my heart is Lightworker. You'll be surprised with how his music has evolved.

Certainly knows next to nothing of then genre if "Metallica albums of this period" is what he's comparing Devin to.

I've seen a couple of your react vids before. Never did you talk over a song this much. I don't understand what you're going for by posting a live stream "reaction" and talking about anything else.
All I'm saying is that these guys are not Pantera, they don't sound like groove anything, maybe the style is closer to industrial in this album, and, ah whatever.

Guys, if anything this guy is a musical genius and a unique vocalist.
For an idea of how awesome he is check his EMGtv version of Kingdom or Stormbending in concert. Epicloud, Transcendance, Accelerated Evolution and Addicted are awesome albums.

For the real magical Devin Townsend you'd better start with Ocean Machine Biomech or Devin Townsend Terria.
Start experiencing Biomech with: Greetings + Regulator (two songs but should be played together), Seventh Wave, Life, Funeral, Bastard, ...
Start experiencing Terria with: The Fluke, Earth Day, Canada, ...
Please don't stop the songs too often, let them breathe and develop (Devin is a master in building up majestic songs!). Listen with good gear, listen a bit louder, close your eyes and you'll get enchanted as well, I promise. :)
If you can find one if the songs performed live at the Royal Albert Hall or live in Plovdiv just take the live performance cause sound is good at these two concerts. You'll find "The Fluke" only from CD and nobody presented it on RUclips yet (like most songs from the great first albums), but the song is fantastic! Please do not do a 1005th version of "Deadhead" or "Kingdom"!

90s was great decade for metal, some real classics came out of the 90s, Pantera, fear factory, strapping, carcass, death, machine head, morbid angel, just to name a few
I'm so old I saw these guys at the tivoli. And that's the adelaide tivoli that doesn't exist anymore. Was a great venue.
