I support the parents here. He’s 16 and she’s 14, she’s less mature than he is (based on age) and he could be taking advantage of her. Not saying he is, but it’s a possibility. This could be a mistake but I don’t think it would be an educational mistake

considering guys in college and tiana is approaching studying for gcses i would worry the 16 yr old would take advantage of tiana. being friends yea sure but boyfriend i think can wait until after gcses. as someone who’s probably the same year as the boy i’d worry about my a levels and learning to be more aware about healthy and unhealthy relationships more than already going into a relationship. your guys reasons for not supporting are fully valid and accepted, you worry about tiana more than anything and i agree

as parents please understand that you shouldn’t feel bad about your anxieties around tiana’s relationship, you just want the best for her and as someone who’s basically grown up watching her (started like once she hit 1m as toysandme) i really respect you guys. still make tiana feel loved and supported but education is key to achieving a great relationship 🫶🏼
btw ppl who are saying stuff like oh but my partner and i have a large age gap but we met when we were (adult age) sorry but thats rlly different when it comes to minors, ESPECIALLY if it’s an 18 year old and a 16 year old which tbh 2 years from now, jacob will be 18 and tiana will be 16, an adult and a minor - that’s when i would worry more if the 18 yr old takes advantage especially (obviously idk jacob and his intentions but to many it may come off this way)

i agree, it’s a big different since she’s in high school and he’s in college. But Tiana needs to live a little! If the relationship goes terrible wrong then yes, you can ask Tiana to meet their parents but it’s only 2 years! trust your daughter! Plus he might be a very nice guy! x
Hey, when I was 14 I also had a boyfriend who was 16 which my parents knew about. They were very scared of him taking advantage of me. Now me and the same boy are still together and everything is going very well. It’s not really about the age, it’s about the person. Some people of 14 are on a different level than other people of 14. But I understand your decision. ❤

I completely agree (from an 17 year olds perspective) with you guys on this. For example: I had my so called first relationship I was 15 (about to turn 16) and the person I dated was 1 year older than me. And that was completely fine,( and also by my dad).
But when the age gap is like this situation 14 and 16, I’ll say that’s a no for me. (Not trying to say that tiana did anything wrong) because that much of an age gap and also because tiana is 14 and the guy can take advantage of her yes, but it really depends on how he actually
is as a person. but still I would say: go for people who are either your age or 1 year apart is also fine. But more than that no. (As in a teenager)
But some advice for tiana: be careful with those types of guys, who are willing to date people who are way younger than them. Because they can be dangerous and manipulative. Just stay safe. and I hope your not dating him just to be a cool (for your friends or others) person because your dating a person who is older than you. (I’m saying this from experience (some “old friend”(not anymore) of mine) and that your doing this fr the right reasons and not wrong ones. And that he has not pressured you into this relationship. the thing i love abt this channel, is that theyre not one of those clickbait filming videos, like when someone secretly films and the other person pretends not to know, and these parents are like, so worried abt her, its so cute but obviously normal.
For now, I would just supervise Tiana and Jacob, just to get to know Jacob better, and to see how the relationship works out. I honestly get their concern, it can go wrong in so many ways

As a dad with a 13 Yr old daughter I fully agree with dad I couldn't support it either and agree with mum her education is more important than any boy. Sometimes our kids see us as being strict when in reality we dad's are protective of our daughters.
Honestly I agree, my parents would never let me have a boyfriend who is 2 years older than me! Every parent has different opinions. What they think is best for THEIR daughter is THEIR choice. x
i personally think that as long as tiana is focusing and putting 100 percent effort into school and that she is honest with you this relationship i would say is fine but as long as you make sure she talks to you about him and you get to know him and make sure nothing is happening between them xx

To be honest I am Australian and I have grown up in Australian schools my whole life so, to me have a 16 year old boyfriend at 14 years is completely fine however, what I heard from you guys you go to college at 16??? If I’m correct I think Tiana having a boyfriend who’s in college while she’s still in school is a bit strange and I’m confused how that has worked unless one of them sneaks out of school to see the other…?

Thanks for all the reply’s I’m still a bit confused with the whole thing because in Australia we go to school until year 12 but you can drop out in year 10 but if you drop out in year 10 you have to have a degree in something of have a really good job otherwise you stay until your in year 12 then you would go to university, but again thanks for the help and reply’s I do understand a bit more!

You can still be in year 11 when he 16 and tiana is nearly 15 so they probably knew each other from the same school bc she's in year 10 and he could be year 11 or just left high school. Btw year 10 is 9th grade and year 11 is 10th

To be honest for parents it’s normal to have concerns, Tiana is 14 and dating a 16 year is dangerous cause he could be using her, taking advantage of her or mistreating her so i understand why there worried cause this could be a good relationship but could olso be really bad and it could olso have a bad influence on her, i really hope that it’s not the case but i recommend you guys get no know him and see if he could be a good guy for Tiana cause she is still 14 and less mature but i hope the relationship goes well that he is a nice guy, that the parents get know him and that you can all be happy, i wish the best for Tiana’s relationship

I have some advice. I am a 28 year old and I too found it difficult to tell my parents.
Advice to parents: Tiana is young and she is at an age where her focus should be on education and taking the next steps to planning her future. It makes me happy to see her dad stick to his rules. Those rules are out of love and caring for Tiana. She does not want to get hurt or ruin the future she may have. The age is scary for parents. Tiana is their little girl who has a lot of potential to do great things. Older men like that can take advantage over younger girls who have a popularity.
Advice for Tiana: Don’t rush it. This is your first relationship and it seems so perfect. There will be more. Manage your time because you have a future that is permanent and a boyfriend who may be temporary. If you want to continue a relationship with him.. make sure that there’s a lot of boundaries. You need to protect yourself too because your parents aren’t always going to be there. Your parents don’t even know about him. That means he was not a common person before starting a relationship with him. Protect yourself and give your parents time. Focus on your education because that is what will give you and job you want. Age matters. Sometime older men will want relationships with younger ladies because he wants popularity or he doesn’t want to do things for himself. Be careful sweet girl.

I was 16, my boyfriend was 14. I knew girls at school who took advantage of boys. Me & my boyfriend we’re together for 7 years. Now we are just friends. We never took advantage of the other. It’s the person NOT their age that causes someone to take advantage. Yes you have to be careful. If I were Tirana’s parents I’d want to meet this person and sit down and talk to him. If I deem him a good person I’d also make boundaries like if my daughter wanted him to stay over then they must sleep in separate bedrooms.

Y’all are good parents. I’m 22 and my parents still don’t want me to have a bf or deal with men, as parents they might be thinking they are protecting me but they really not because I’m still dating behind their back and I feel like when I approach them about something they take it the wrong way. Which is why I stopped communicating with them about my feelings or anything that has to do with me. Them being strict on me made me become very sneaky and a liar because in order for me to ask them something if I can go out they always say no so I just come up with a lie. I agree with you both their as I was once there with my eldest daughter. I met her boyfriend and we got on but they are not together now as she is 15 going to be 16 next year and he is 17 he chose to end things but still talks to her as friends which I respect him for that. Downside was she got really upset. You two are doing a great job. Don’t worry about other peoples point of views your amazing parents and the bond you both have with Tiana just goes to show you ❤️

There is a huge difference between 14 and 16. I think the both of you are absolutely right in being concerned. Tiana is too young for a 16 yr old boyfriend. A 14 yr old would be more suitable. Good luck with this

I think that it’s obviously natural to date and I think that for Tiana to tell you shows she’s very open with you but I think you should let her know that she can always come and talk to you if anything happens or goes wrong as you won’t think of her differently as it can reassure her as she is finding her way and having a relationship with someone older can alter that self journey and I think that you should also explain the importance of staying safe in a relationship with someone that is at a more mature stage I hope some of this advice is useful ❤️

a 14 year old cannot make decisions for herself, she still lives under her parents roof, and this boy may have already had experience with other girls when tiana may not be ready for that kind of stuff her dad has explained how tiana has never been in a relationship before so she wouldn't know what's normal and what's not, her parents truly care about her and don't want her to be taken advantage of

We all know the issues about the differences between age but she is old enough to know right from wrong. If you want to be the best you can for your daughter the only way forward is to support her and be respectful for Jacob to. Saying you WANT it to end isn’t what a father should say in my eyes. Hey I think its okay that she has a boyfriend they are 2 years apart and I can tell why your worried just have rules set down that she needs to check in when she is with him and that he has to meet you guys and sit down with her and tell her what will happen if he takes advantage of her but you have to let her do her own things she is old enough to have a boyfriend and i hope she is happy with him
young people should get to know that there is a difference in a relationship between 30 and 32 then someone in a relationship between 14-16 because there are many advantages that an older person could have whether it's the girl who is older or a boy who is the oldest out of the relationship so i don't blame Tiana's amazing father because she loves her and wants to take care of her so my advice would be to give it a bit more time to see whether his a good kid or not as they only been dating for a month whilst in the meantime supporting Tiana and being there for her and see how it goes from there
As my opinion I think it’s a good idea that you guys get to know the boyfriend first, Tiana is still in high school and should focus on her education and career before thinking of having a relationship! Now I’m not saying she can’t have a boyfriend as I’m not the parent here, she is 14 and the person is 16 so that’s a 2 year age gap kind of a 1 year age gap since she is turning 15 this year, unless the person is turning 17 this year! Just make sure everything is ok! Plus the dude is in college she is still in Highschool- especially since not everyone is here forever to protect you! i’m sorry but i think u guys are going too far. i got into a relationship when i was 14 with a 16 year old and it’s going very well after 1 year. tiana is nearly 15, she’s responsible enough to know about her own actions. keep an eye on her and make sure she’s still taking school seriously because that’s important. if her boyfriend was a fan and only wanted to take advantage of her then that’s obviously the wrong person to be with and she should leave, but she’s been with him for a month now so she knows if he truly loves her or not. i’m sure she can see that for herself. just let her live through her teenage years. i completely understand u guys and trying to keep her safe and everything, u guys gotta play ur part as well and not let her sleep in his house etc. in my opinion ur being too protective. she’ll never leave her shell if u continue telling her this stuff, she must be feeling confused

I did. In fact I was the older one and my boyfriend was 14. We were together for 7 years. Now we are just friends. My parents set rules like if I wanted him to stay over he had to sleep in a different bedroom (for both our safety- although I slept over his with him and neither one of us tried anything as neither of us wanted that sort of relationship).

To be honest in my household I was allowed a boyfriend when I turned 14 and my parents said 2 years is the max age gap so 16 would have been ok in my house but I fully understand every house has different rules and your perspective is very reasonable yous are good parents
