Us Americans are very sloppy when using English, his usage was incorrect, but everyone knows what he meant, and we tend to use them interchangeably when casually talking as well. I'm sure tons of people (myself included) didn't even bat an eye when he said that.

A pretty long time ago people used to abuse steam support, they hijacked their own account, sent the skins elsewhere, then from the hijacked account they would write to steam support that they got hacked and steam support would put the skins they "lost" back in their inventory without removing them from the account they got sent to. Now they don't do it anymore.
