Thank you for highlighting the River of Life project and its shortcomings. One problem, which you might have realised had you taken the advice issued to MPs, is safety of users. I use and I have had motorcycle riding youngsters behaving threateningly towards pedestrians. Nevertheless the project has made important progress and a future phase could learn from experiences todate. Better policing, drink dispensers (preferably water coolers) and simple exercise islands would be a good way to start. VI Reminder: this is primarily for Malaysian residents and only incidentally for our guests, the tourists.
That's the thing about 'correcting our own', we had no idea what is 'incorrect' until it is too late. So just another reason why we had others to do it for us.
Great point on matriculation. The bottleneck is at public universities vacancies. The opportunity cost for non Bumi is enormous. If you can’t get a course in public Uni later, you are done. Matriculation is not recognised overseas. You are better off doing STPM and open all doors, globally.
On the 10As non bumi acceptance into Matriculation, the question that disturbs me most is the fact that a high number of bumis without 10As are in matriculation. This is a fact as teachers/students at the Matric Centres over the years will attest to and confirm the long standing discrimination meted out to non bumi Malaysians. There is so much hype about allowing non bumps in whereas all along the bumis were never subjected to this requirement and no politician across the aisle is prepared to speak the truth and put the devil to shame. For Malaysia to progress sacrifices must be made now especially when it comes to education because education will be the main factor deciding the future of the country as the changing external economic environment demands a very skilled labour force as highlighted by IMF and UN.Sidestepping and not wanting to discuss these issues in the name of sensitivities because of race will only erode public confidence in the MOE and the ruling government and down the road withing the next 20years Malaysia will be solidly a " A fully matured 3rd World Country".
After matriculation what next ? Pmx did not promise degree program placement for non bumi based on merit Also the choice of career is important . Not all courses fit all
You heard the Chinese saying, "Vote for party, not personality (person)" especially among DAP leaders to voters? Won't it be interesting for a study to be made on the real achievements of all those who were credited with 10 As after their graduation and had worked , say for 5 to 10 years. As the number of 10-As students seem to be poorly reflected in our performance in PISA where less than 5% of Malaysian students were able to achieve the upper 2 sections ( which is divided into 6 sections)

Why judged and picked on what Rafizi said during the Sg Bakap by election campaign? To be fair the Kedah MB speeches were as abrassive if not more then what Rafizi said! Why can compromise on what the MB said but pick on Rafizi? The Speaker decision on the 6 palimentaries seats is looking at a broader pictures Malaysia do not need another six by elections, we all know the majority is with who regardless with or without the 6 by elections. While PH was in the opposition they believe BN should give development fund to the opposition. The fund doesnt belong to the government but the people. But when PH is the government they are doing exactly what BN did which led to the defection of PN MP. Who is to blame now?
This series is starting to feel disgusting, as you two are more focused on promoting yourself as having the perfect solution to everything, without having to face the real situation, it is very easy to sit there and comment, just like KJ. I can understand why Rafizi behave in such a way, because he is tired of all the nonsense and just want to get things done. If he follows your suggestions, things will not be done. My respect for Rafizi increased after this because he is willing to receive all the hit for his boss, where as you two are just concern about how the public view yourself.
I noticed that too, somehow I felt that the solutions they've suggested to every problem mentioned are just too naive, might only works in primary school.
OKM spent a good 7 minutes criticizing Rafizi just because he sounds arrogant without addressing what is right and what is wrong in his recent reply in parliament about Budi and Padu and his conversation with Salim Iskandar really reeks personal hatred.
Agreed, I think OKM and Mr Money is the one who is doing the 'read not heard' thing, (not up to the point of hatred though).. Fair enough if you want to criticize the way he talks, or about him mentioning that OKM and KJ wouldn't win at Sungai Bakap.. but why stop there and keep on harping on the point? What about the comment by Rafizi about voter turnout? About the fact that the support (percentage wise) haven't change? About the fact that malay's political divisiveness being a more dangerous trend going forward? Admission to public universities should be based on meritocracy and not race-based. We have achieved independence for 60 years and yet, we are still practicing affirmative actions. For the country to progress (and further regress), we have to start to reform the education.
If solely based on meritocracy, people from rural areas will not have a chance to receive higher level education. They face more hardship to receive proper education compared to urban area.
